Who is asking for this?
Apple customers who would like a foldable iPhone.
Who is asking for this?
I'd rather have an iPhone Mini + iPad Mini, with separate batteries, both stupid small and light, both usable simultaneously, and oh, collectively cheaper ... like less than half the cost? ...
It should/could have iOS on the small screen and iPadOS on the bigger screen. If it doesn’t have its own special version of iOS, it is dead on arrival.
Not sure is that would work. An MacOS would likely bring the iPhone’s processor to its knees, making for a less than optimal solution. Since you’d need a dock and monitor, traveling would not be ideal either. The iPad would be a much more likely candidate, but if it the total revenue is less due to canabalization of Mac sales and not made up by much higher iPad sales, it would be a bad idea from a revenue standpoint.Looking at that mockup, the one thing that would tempt me to get a foldable is if the entire bottom half could be a keyboard and run more powerful apps, and while docked, it would run full MacOS. Imagine the Mac market share if an iPhone ran full macOS when docked? Likewise, the iPad Pro should run full macOS when docked. Apple is not fully leveraging its unique Mac asset.
They didn’t say “no crease”, they said “nearly invisible crease”.No crease and a better hinge.

The Internet: I want my iPhone to run MacOS.
Also the Internet: Why does my phone keep throttling?
😂
Same folks who wanted the vision pro.Who is asking for this?

5.5” outer display? Hmmmm… sounds like a hellava high price to replace my iPhone 13 mini.
But, if it’s the only way to get a replacement……
At that aspect ratio 5.5” is wider closed than even the 6.9” Pro Max screen though:Oh the irony if people prefer using the phone folded closed and say that the 5.5" is just fine for them.
That seems unlikely, because it would mean that you couldn’t switch apps between inner and outer display. It would also mean two copies of an OS, double the RAM usage, and so on.It will probably run iOS when folded, and iPadOS when unfolded.
Solving a problem that doesn't exist, what's the point of this?
100% this, but a mini pro 🥳I'd rather have an iPhone Mini + iPad Mini, with separate batteries, both stupid small and light, both usable simultaneously, and oh, collectively cheaper ... like less than half the cost? ...
So it replaces a standard iphone and an ipad mini.. Samsung and other makes have tried to make these a thing since 2019, they all have massive compromises, durability issues, and cost substantially moreThe fact you have to ask shows it’s not for you. It’s obvious what problem this solves.
