I’m obviously a heavier user of Apple gear than most that frequent this forum but even I was impressed with the iPhone Duo for Apple’s first go around.

Clearly won’t have the level of customization/multi-tasking available on many of it’s Android counterparts but kudos on modifying the OS/software to work better on the different aspect ratio displays, using an underdisplay camera (we’ll have to see how good it actually is though). Lots of well thought out functionality/features that change with the orientation/configuration of the phone. Glad it’s IP68 as well with a nanotexture inner display to reduce glare. And Pencil support—didn’t see that coming.

I’m so glad that didn’t replicate the speaker layout of the Fold 8 so you have some degree of stereo sound regardless of the phone orientation. And I was worried that it wouldn’t have MagSafe after it wasn’t mentioned a single time during the presentation but Apple’s website confirmed it on the Duo.

Only change I would love is swapping the ultrawide lens for a telephone.

I was so close to buying the Fold 8 today but decided that I'd wait to see what announced, I'm glad I did.

My 1st foldable and I'm near enough 100% sure that the Duo is where my money is going come October, the software looks well thought out and the hardware isn't too shabby either.
Even if you don't buy any Android foldable... you are still welcomed into the foldable world! And I'm impressed with what Apple has done... this will only push Samsung to get better!

Man, as much as I love my TriFold, Apple really hit it out of the park with the iPhone Duo. Makes me seriously consider rejoining the ecosystem, lol. The Duo is slightly slimmer than a Fold 6 and about as heavy as a Fold 5, both phones I really enjoyed using. Some people already complaining about the Duo's weight but it really isn't bad at all considering it has MagSafe support.

How much are TriFolds selling on Swappa again?!?! Haha. I'm not making any moves immediately, but credit Apple for a great demo and first impression of their foldable. What I really enjoy is all the posts from folks suddenly considering a foldable despite the Duo's price. The 1TB would be the sweet spot for me. I like the Apple Pencil support, but not sure if it attaches anywhere (maybe with a special case).

Edit: Quick check of Swappa shows the handful of TriFold listings selling for more than what I paid. However, demand will probably decline in the near future now that the iPhone Duo is released.

Definitely not the slimmest foldable but quite a margin (Samsung is still the market leader here) but as someone who’s only owned and used Pixel foldables, it’ll feel just fine to me. 😂😉 I’ll take it if it means including MagSafe.

That Apple Pencil support is a winner! That would be perfect for you... since you tend to use a stylus for writing.

I still write on the TriFold with a generic capacitive mesh stylus, as well as write with the built-in stylus in my work-issued Surface Pro 10. Pencil support is definitely appealing, but as you say S pen may make a comeback next year in response to the Duo.

The iPhone Duo is a very polished design. Nothing "first-gen" about it. However, I'm gonna wait for some hands-on experience in-store. There are still things I don't like about iOS, such as lack of a true file manager. And I'm used to having 3 apps open simultaneously, but can make do with two. The fact I'm even considering the Duo is testament to how well Apple did with the Duo.

Did you see the new Huawei XT,?

Well, my lady is intrigued about it. So… it’s a chance I get it for her and that way I could try it myself lol.

But I’m not moving away from the Android side of things (from Good Lock to the little things that’s available on the platform)… think since I have an iPad, means that I can do without an iPhone. If the iPad doesn’t exist, then I’ll certainly be interested in the iPhone Duo.

I guess I'll get it, they had me at Grade 5 Titanium. $2k is hefty but I am willing to pay a little more over the ZF8 with slightly more premium materials. I will miss having launchers and KWGT though...
