Man I'll definitely get the trifold, what an amazing device. Sadly I just got the ZF7 so I'll probably wait for the 2nd gen of the trifold. By that time I can finally get rid of my iPad Pro M4 13 and go single device for my travels.

iPhone Fold will have arrived by then to upset your plans

Wow, poster wants to keep the TriFold as a secondary phone! That is an expensive backup phone. Also humorous is the lady using the park bench to roll out her hamstring at 3:52 mark.

I don't think I need any more convincing and battery life appears to average 7-8 hours of on-screen time/moderate use. I usually get that duration from my Fold 4-6 and that's enough to get me through a full day from wake to sleep.

While the Huawei Mate XT allows you to go single/dual/tri screen, I don't know how often I'd use the middle size display. I also worry that one edge of the phone is comprised of the screen. While the poster has had his Mate XT for a year without issues, I am paranoid that if I squeeze the "frame" of the Mate XT too hard then over time it's going to damage the exposed screen edge in the closed state.

You never know what's coming
True, but for Apple to claim that their Fold will have the iPad Mini aspect ratio the phone/folded mode would have to be pretty fat/thicc. So I'll wait until I see some official pictures, the Trifold on the other hand the aspect ratio is perfect for me. But with that being said Apple tend to have a huge influence on what Samsung does with their phones and if the rumors are to be believed I rather Samsung bring back the underdisplay cameras and spen support just to copy Apple's Fold. I'm not in a hurry to get rid of my ZF7 but a Trifold with:

- under display cameras or at least one that is pushed to the corners
- spen support(maybe?)
- 6000mah solid state battery

If it has all of these plus upgraded cameras (for example: 200mp/50mp/50mp), then I'd probably drop whatever Samsung wants for it.

When I first got into the Galaxy Z Flip, I did so because of the compact form factor. Originally I thought I'd eventually get on to the Fold. To this date, I'm still preferring the Flip series over the fold. If I ever decide to get into a fold, it will most definitely be Samsung's Tri-Fold. This is now a proper phone to tablet device. Seems like reviewers are starting to feel this is the form factor that will be standard. I have to agree. Maybe I'll jump on the 3rd when I decide to upgrade my Flip 7.

I enjoy the production quality from The Tech Chap channel and he just did a quick segment on the TriFold. I still can't get over the massive difference between Fold 7 vs TriFold when it comes to widescreen content. That kickstand case is going to be a necessity for me. Amusing and shocking when he flicks the TriFold open one-handed.

But they not rotating the Fold 7 screen though... whenever I'm watching something in full screen on my Galaxy Fold it will be rotated in landscape orientation.

Tech reviewers do love comparing the ZF7's portrait mode to the Trifold's landscape mode...

I'll probably still get the trifold eventually but to me Samsung missed the mark on a few things like not going solid state batteries or invisible selfie cam. I personally also think that for its size it should have contacts in the back along with magnets for a keyboard stand. I would love to own a phone that can fold out to be a full fledge laptop.

@Ludatyk and @Cuesca, I get it and rotate my Fold 6 too for maximum widescreen effect. But there are comparisons of the Fold 7 rotated versus the TriFold and it's still a significant disparity in level of immersive experience. The best part of the Fold inner screen is simply made even better with the TriFold.

TriFold released in UAE today. Hurry up, Samsung, and ship to the US!

With the kick stand case, add a keyboard... load up DeX then you practically are using a full fledge laptop.

And to add if Samsung copies Apple and changes their design to where it unfolds in landscape versus portrait... that would be great!

Full aware that the TriFold has a bigger screen than the Fold 7... but these Tech reviewers should at least compare the Fold 7 in landscape orientation instead of portrait when viewing content in full screen.

Yeah, probably will go and check them out when it's in stores... waiting to see Flossy's take on it.

IIRC they stock allocation in Korea is 3000 units a week and 20k worldwide, so it's not going to be easy for anyone to get their hands on one. It's also still pretty much in Beta, but this concept especially after we see in it practice, I think should eventually sell better than the normal Fold. Apple's Fold is rumored to be 4:3 which is also great but for that to happen wouldn't the folded/slab mode going to be pretty short and fat like the Surface Duo?

Yeah, it's going to be like the original Pixel Fold and that design was copied from Oppo Find N.

Personally, I find opening in landscape orientation is better for viewing content and multitasking.

My Z Tri fold arrives on Monday!!
Looking forward to your thoughts on Monday!

It is ironic that I kept looking at Fold 7 promotions and still didn't bite, but am absolutely looking forward to the much more expensive TriFold.

Seeing more comparisons with the Huawei XT, I wondered how much would I really use the XT's "2-screen" option. Hard to say, but given the S/M/L sizing options I think medium would be used the least. Plus, the whole exposed screen edge design on the Mate XT gives me concern.

I may rely on the TriFold's bigger cover display more than the one on my Fold 6, but it's nice to know I always have that ginormous inner screen as an option. Interestingly, all the videos only show 3 apps open on the TriFold inner screen. Did they take away the floating 4th screen option? I guess that is now achievable with native DeX anyways.

Is that 20K total? Or 20K a week worldwide production (~1 million units annually)? I wonder if Samsung is underestimating demand seeing as how the TriFold has sold out twice now in South Korea and unsure when the next replenishment will be. Time will tell if the demand is sustained or just a surge of early adopters.

Not necessarily. You are drawn by the bigger screen of the TriFold... and if the Fold 7 were to have S-Pen support then you would have bought it already as I would have.

Think I seen a YT video where they discussed how majority of XT users didn't use the mini-tablet much... which is understandable, if I have a bigger display available to me then that's what I'd gravitate toward. But personally I find the whole Huawei design (one screen... and more versatile along being slightly thinner) to look better than Samsung's.

4th screen? Like a 2x2 grid?

Truth...followed by regret and buyer's remorse when the TriFold was announced for US shores.

Admittedly pretty rare to need four. I use three open apps daily, but there's the rare occasion I need the calculator app too on top of everything, lol. A 2x2 grid would be nice since nothing gets obscured by a floating panel.

I also look forward to testing a capacitive stylus on the TriFold because that portrait mode would be awesome with Samsung Notes in work meetings.

If there's anything you guys want me to test on Monday let me know. Will be similar to fold 7 though but can do so
