Seen on a Reddit post Samsung were going with the M14 panel over the M13 with the wide variant and staying M13 on the Fold 8 Ultra…
That's pretty impressive. I won't be able to tell a difference with my eyes but it's still a good thing.

To be fair, I don't even notice a difference between the 25 Ultra display (M13) and S26 Ultra display (M14). I never use phones on full brightness. I rarely ever have my phone over half brightness because it's already really bright at half brightness. When I go outside, putting the phones in adaptive, already makes them fully visible. In terms of image quality, I think we've been at peak performance for a few years now.

I think the only true advantage to the M14 or any newer panels, would be improvements to power efficiency. Brightness only matters when going outside, and flagship phones for the last 4 years have been plenty bright when going outside. I think, the real advantage to outside viewing will now come from the anti-reflective coating used. This article sums it up nicely. They all have the same M14 panel, but the Samsung runs away with it for outside viewing.

Most definitely all the latest phones that I have are excellent, especially outdoors. But if it does help for the power efficiency, I'm all for it, especially on a foldable using the screen.
 
Hopefully that crease improves on actual production units. That's more noticeable than on the ZF 7 and the Trifold and rumors were that it was to be virtually creaseless. Also maybe it is just me but this looks thicker than the ZF 7 and nearly to the thickness of the Trifold. I'm excited for iOS on a foldable but I'm starting to lean towards sitting out the first version. I still really love my Trifold and using it alongside my Pixel 10PXL

I'm also curious to see how that crease is going to look but I've decided that I'm definitely going to skip this first version, tbh face ID is one thing that I want to keep on my iOS side phone
 
Yeah that would be the one thing I'm curious to see how the whole software experience is going to be hopefully iOS can implement some really nice mini tablet stuff on it..
App optimization could be an advantage for this phone and hopefully it will be able to have more than two apps on screen at the same time.

Other than the likely physical limitation prohibiting face ID I would not want it on a Fold where you ID then have a compulsory long swipe up, then open to inner screen, that would drive me nuts 🙂

I know most IPhone users have muscle memory for that long swipe up after ID'ing, but I don't as my IPhone is just a secondary device.

If it's like the Samsung foldable you don't need to swipe up as soon as you wake the screen you can get right into the phone with your face ID

I may be misinterpreting your post, but on previous home button iPhones there is an accessibility setting called Rest Finger To Open. Combined with raise to wake you can pickup the phone with your thumb on the home button to instantly unlock, dismiss the lock screen and enter the home screen.

It's described in the very last sentence here https://support.apple.com/en-au/102528. The mention of top button suggests this works on iPads too so hopefully the fold also.
