YES!!!! finally finished my first one. More points to the cause... a modest 15 or so.

Cool! Every WU helps! (As mc68k's percentage proves. He keeps adding power, but produces less percentage for the team. :))

I just one of my friends folding for team MacRumors. He brings a Powerbook G4 500 and his new dual 1Ghz. He will be under Macs4Me when he finishes his first unit.

(And I have fixed my home PC now so it is folding again, and just got another dual 350 PII crunching)

Jumped me out of my dormant state and back up the rankings...and 73 points for the team ain't bad either. ;)

This is good tho'...i got a new protein i can finished in days...not weeks.:D

Congratulations! That's quite a feat.

I still have my 73 pointer after nearly two weeks. Thankfully, my slower machine hasn't received one. :)

wow i hope i don't get one of those monsters...

anyway, did you guys notice something on the stats...? we have a higher output per week than macaddict4life....!! it might take awhile but we could become the number 2 mac team!!! pretty exciting.

Keep up the good work, team, we're only 500 points/week behind LWD!

If we beat them today our average keeps increasing... so... soon enough... we might... well you know.

Remember THEY ARE LISTENING. :D
Beat MacAddict4Life wow... us a simple web-site beating a full blown publication?

Well, I just lost that packet on me PC due to System Restore having to be run when an old game program fouled XP. Tried to retrieve it, but got an error message about "hash marks match file... etc, etc" and...

Any idea what all those files do? A flowchart of program operation and file interaction would be great in trying to get a 99% finished packet to finish 1% rather than starting over.

So I have a new packet -- on Stanford's "reference system", a 500Mhz Celeron (about equal to a 600Mhz iBook, I think), it'll take 50 days. We'll see what 2.4ghz does -- barring any further system restores.

---

It takes 10 minutes a frame. Thats... 33 hours for a 50-day packet.

if u guys really want the extra push, i could get the library comps going again, but there has to be good reason for me to walk to the library every day again.

Just us wanting it isn't a really good reason? ;)

true, but...

at this point it's only like 5 of you that have expressed your sentiment. if you guys really want to get me into gear send me a PM saying you want the library machines folding for 3446.

i can set up 1 PC in <1 min. the security cameras help me go faster. :)

I would like to see the extra points from those computers. I don't understand why you have to go in there everyday though. Why doesn't it start up on it's own?

they have a program that apparently cleans out the startup folder. is there any other way to make programs launch at startup? if, so it would save me a lot of trouble.

the accounts do not have any kind of admin privledges.

The only other ways to start an app automatically (I am assuming this is windows) that I know of is:

adding a entry under this registry key:
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

all programs listed there will automatically run.

The other location is in the win.ini. There is a load= (or run=) in that file. (at the top) Just add the location (i.e. c:\fah\fah3console.exe) after the = sign. If there is already something there, just put a semi-colon after it.

I hope this helps.

I know of a few ways but... um... they have some other things attached that if the library saw you loading something of that nature they will kick you out...
 You know what I mean. ;)

There are windows startup folders and folder that lanch apps but I would need to look into which folder these are.

I could add a few computers at school to fold but I need a proxy on one of the open ports, The schools proxy won't send or receve data on IP based addresses, thats whay I can't use the schools proxy. Can someone set up a proxy server to send and recieve folding units?

Can I really be this fast??

I,m folding the hell out of my machines, according to the stats pages of MacNN I am at pos 29 at Macrumors Team. In fact, I really do not believe my machines are folding this fast. The stats told me for about a week I had 4,4 Ghz of power. When I checked again yesterday morning I had 10,5 Ghz and right now I'm at a stunning 11,1 Ghz.

At the moment I've got the folowing machines folding for the good cause (MacRumors.com that is :D :D )

G4 Dual 876
TiBook 667
Dual P4 Xeon 2,0 Ghz
P4 1,7 Ghz
P4 2.4 Ghz

Can I really be this fast or is it just that my machines we're ready with their respective units at the same time?

Anyway, my efforts seem to help.

it's prob an approximation of power. i don't think they have any way of really gauging the exact MHz.

Yes, that would take needed info from each comp directly. they base this that most computers aren't only running folding 24/7 and that if it takes you ___ amount of time for a ___ point WU than you have your folding GHZ.

Your rate put you passing me! So I have scrounged up another machine. :) But With the computers listed you could very well be running that fast.

Did I just hear you say I should find an extra machine to add to my folding power...?:D
Did we just start a little competition here?:p :D

Anyway I think it will take some time for catching up with you. During weekends my folding rate is higher than during working hours.
;)

Cheers,
Arjen
