I'm going to install on a friends new computer soon, like a 2.4 P4 so one more computer. :D

I just had some more machines open up for me. I'll be assimilating them any time now.

Our numbers are really high!

Anyone know why my second core isn't running gromacs? Or does it only run gromacs sometimes.

It will only occasional download a gromacs unit. Look at this page. It shows all the potential projects that are currently available for processing. There doesn't seem to be an exact pattern to which one you get so take notice out of all of them there is only one that is gromacs. It's the last project on the page.

I just joined with my 733 MHZ G4. I can't run it much but I am interested in this whole thing.

How long should a WU take? I have had mine on for a half hour and im only at .6% (it jumped from 0.0 to .6 real quick and then stopped)

Welcome to the team, I see you have installed the no-brains needed graphical client. :p
The client will do that, because once a 'frame' is completed it will show you have you have completed 1/400 (400 frames being the most used) done.
A WU should take, lets use my computer for example because I have a similar computer, but there are varibles (should be in FAQ ;) ;) ):
a) the 'size' of a WU -- more points see here
b) Computer speed
c) time computer is idle
More idle the computer, the faster folding will go. On average running 20/7 I average a WU 3-4 days. 70 (large) take much longer while 19.7 pointers (small) take less time.

I hope I explained that.

Oh and sorry if if this has been asked before, but does/will this use Altivec / DP machines?
When you get gromac units it should be faster. For DP... I don't expect a major difference because remember when you have DP it is really just running 2 folding programs for each CPU.

So what you should say is it will not complete one unit faster but you will still be able to turn out twice the work of a single processor unit in the same amount of time.

And I'm still saying it should be in the FAQ, rower did a good job, but people have other speific questions that we are answering over and over, no offense.

People are actually going to read first, post second? :D That's a theory with no basis in reality.

Gonna finish my gromacs WU later today...

Nice to see you back, even though you're "sleeping with the enemies". ;)

I've hardly been sleeping. :D

Considering that I only have two machines and three CPUs, I'm hardly a big addition to or subtraction from the team. I really hated to see MacNN go too far down and, it was apparent that my contribution was not what it once was, so I went to help another Macintosh team.

If anyone has truly read my posts about folding, they have primarily been about Macintoshes folding and raising noticeable contributions. My progress monitor is all about this, even though it isn't Macintosh specific. I still have the Mac OS X look-and-feel on the web site and I'm not taking it down. :D

I remain a part of MacRumors and a friend to those who will have me. You are all a part of me.

So after going to the folding site and taking the red pill - I'm wondering if we're going to see a big jump in production? I know not all members are crunching away on macs, but if their 10x speed is to be believed that's going to have a huge affect.

And if there are more members on the other mac teams with macs and they all upgrade we actually might not catch them as easily.

:Notice:
They did not say 10x the point, they didn't say 10x the speed. They mean the gromac units will give them 10x the infomation, these are much more complex protiens, but we are able to do them faster... beacuse of the new core, gromac.
