I don't know if you had a 70 pointer, but know I am having serious problems. Some of my machines are unable to connect to the asignment servers. So I ain't geting any new WU's!!!!
The strange thing is that the machines do work normal and they can connect to the internet.

I reaaly have no idea what's wrong here, but I do know I'm falling behind.

check on the servers uptime, if they are truely down then there is no problem, if its on your side, you have a problem...

No problem, I'll make it easy if you plan on using it. First you would unzip the files, then double click install.bat. I will set it to run the fah3console automatically so you can fill in your name and team number. To make it truly stealthy you should set the cpu usage to 25% Nobody cares if their CPU is running 25%. (that is advanced options after you fill in your name and such.) After you setup the client you will need to press ctrl c to kill it. Let the script finish and then it should be running. (in theory. ;)) I will test it and make sure I give you explicit instructions. :)

But if I set it up for you, please use it. :)

You don't need ANY of that. All you need is the fah3console and ElectronMicroscope III (do a search on google). There's a setting in EM3 that allows it and fah to be run in stealth mode and another to open fah as soon as it launches. All you would need to do is to create a shortcut to EM3 and place it into the start menu->programs->Startup folder. If you want to be really sneaky, you can add an entry to EM3 into the CurrentVersion/Run registry key in the windoze registry.

The cpu usage shouldn't be set to 25% because the priority of fah3console is automatically set to low (the lowest setting) and any program would get priority over it, so there wouldn't be any noticeable slowdowns if it were set at 100%.

I can't believe that no-one's mentioned this so far, but Team Macrumors is now ranked 31st overall! In the past week we've finally overtaken University of Al and AthlonXP (did you need more proof that mac's are faster ;):p), and are about to take MSU ACM later on today.

Not a bad week overall, would you not agree? I'm not sure how we managed it, but our production has suddenly jumped, to over 29k/week! Impressive.

After being neck and neck with MSU this is great news...finally to be able to kick out and beat them on the rail...the recent speed jump after the lull is great, some body being doing illigal whipping of the macrumours horse to get these increases ;) Next target the penguin and a 30k a week rate. Though if we want to get top 20 we need a pretty serious increase of 10k or more and to keep Mayhem off our backs...they came from no where to get over 40k a week.

I am very impressed with the teams progress. Does anyone have access to any more labs? The ones I help manage are out of the question unfortunatly. Network administrator said no! :-(

I just went and checked out the Extreme Overclocking stats page and in the potential threats we have only two!!!

But one of them is slated to pass us in 2012!?!?! Not bad...

I agree with britboy that our next goal should be cracking 30k a week. We've been hovering just under for the last few days.

Between getting some new people on board and the Gromacs core we should be able to do it easily. :)

Think Arn will give us some front page billing again for a few weeks? It has been a month or so since the last big membership rush....

Edited: Tells you how little I read the front page.... There is our team under the Of Interest Section....

OK, any other ideas to get new members?

Now would be the perfect time for another membership rush - new core and mc68k finished the updated DP and SP scripts. Sounds like a good opportunity to me.

The way I see it, we have to come up with an average increase of about 2,000 points a day - We really don't want to be taken over by General [M]ayhem in 40 days. Is that possible? Probably not, but it's good to shoot for it - if anything it would give us more conquest capabilities and a greater distance from them.

Though 30k a week is a good goal too.

Just started bringing a company laptop back home at weekends to fold on. Its a P4 1.8Ghz. Seems to be quite slow at folding though. Any other people here using P4's?? Its taking about 8mins to do a frame. I know it depends on the unit though.

The one I am doing is a 400 frame job. My Dual 1Ghz does frames about the same speed. However, I am only running folding on one processor at the current time.

One of the machines I have folding for me is a 3GHz P4. On average it seems to take about 3-4 mins a frame. I'd say that your laptop is running about as fast as could be expected. It's still a whole sight better than my Tibook, which takes about 23 mins a frame.....

*recruit* Needed

Omg...
Some one please tell me someone didn't somehow resurrect Free-DC!

They were dead and buried, BURIED I SAY! They get what 4 members and sudden point increase!
And now they outpace up by 1k/day...
fold_758_Graph_ttmp4440887_sr.png

don't start about General Mayhem... we can't stop them... wrecking ball... 2k/day.

On the good news I think we cracked 3k today...
fold_3446_Graph_ttmp1337494_sr.png

But as we all can see we took a major hit (from...?) somewhere and so there goes that...

Tommorow, I'm gonna check my 1000 AOL mails and see if stelliform sent me the invisible folding thing. I'll get my friends on board.

This is annoying me! Before I came home from work I stored about 8 folding units on the laptop (installed into separate directories). This means that when I reconnect to the network on monday I can send my units back. However, the Folding Console on windows keeps locking up + not folding. I left the laptop chugging away last night + woke up this morning to find it had only done 4 frames over the whole night. At some point it had crashed (not XP, just folding). Anybody know a fix for this? The laptop is running XP Professional.
Also, did you see that the new Folding client has support for Gromacs which in turn supports Altivec?

You don't have indexing going on, by any chance? winXP becomes "winDoze" when it's activated because it thinks it needs maximum processor time for the effort. I had this problem, too, and after flipping it off, everything ran at top speed.

Dont think so. I dont have any major HD activity. Where abouts in XP is the indexing option anyway? When I close the folding client I get an error saying that the program is not responding. This happens so many times a day. I am unable to leave the machine, it just wont carry on folding. Also, the P4 mobile. Is there a setting somewhere that allows you to adjust the clock speed? For example, if running off batteries, lower the clock to improve battery life?

How do I know if I'm using gromacs yet? Has it been integrated with mc68k's scripts yet for DP etc etc? I wanna fold faster if I can. I installed folding from the DP scripts a while back, when did these gromacs come out and how do I get it on my MDD 1ghz DP?

I need this to help the team.

cheers

Falleron:

To open Indexing Service

1. Open Computer Management (Local).
2. In the console tree, double-click "Services and Applications".
3. Double-click "Indexing Service".

(this is from Microsoft's built-in help.)

My school got two new 1GHz eMac's today and I could fold on them but the school's ISP's proxy blocks IP addresses, which F@H uses to connect to the server instead of a subdomain address. Does any one know how I can by pass this? I know an external proxy would work, but there aren't any public proxies open on the ports that are open, so is there another way?
