Im finally half way done with a WU, but it is taking forever! Is there a way I can tell how big a WU is and how many points its worth? My current one is p543_BBA5_ext .

Starting on friday I can get alot done because summer vacation starts :)

Sure what you are looking for is stats at the Stanford Folding website. You then want to go to project summary. Your project number is 543. Here's a link to the page.

It looks like it's a 33 point Gromacs with a deadline of 15 days.

Or maybe increase size of profile links?

Comeone people think, my brain is fried!

I think we need to be even more upfront about it. A small flashing banner ad on all the forums and the front page of the main site. The banner should link to a small faq explaining what it is and what they are helping doing (i.e. finding a cure for Alzheimer's etc..). Then there should be a link to the install scripts from there with a short readme that downloads with the scripts to explain step by step the short installation.

What you're talking about sounds more like what MacAddict does. They can't expect to take over the whole forums/site, so they use a separate one here.

I don't really want to take over the whole site. More of a small banner ad in the corner of each main forum page and the main home page that links to another page or a closed forum for the folding information and updates.

i recruited a DP 1.4GHz at CompUSA today

the iMac 1GHz has been steadily folding, thanks to the crontab entry, for a few weeks now at that same store

ive been getting some more library machines since i have to walk across campus for summer school. might as well stop by and start them up every day, since those machines remove startup items.

I wish we had a few big stores around here that had a Macs. All we have with computers is Circuit City and Office Depot. The only place in town for Macs is 'The Computer Store' a NW chain of Apple resellers.

I should have setup the Apples at the University of Oregon bookstore when I was there the other day. Maybe I'll go back. I just have to memorize the Crontab bit. I was left alone there long enough the other day I could have gotten 4 laptops and a PowerMac. I don't think I'll do the school computers. For one I don't go to the schools anymore and two I know the guy that runs the computers at the one school locally and I wouldn't want it coming back to me. He would figure it out.

Hey guys, if my calculations are correct, we need only 3,554.13 points tomorrow to break 30,000 in a seven-day stretch. In my book, that's as good as done. Great work guys!

Good job guys! BTW I finally got my Altivec enabled core downloaded. Can't wait to see if I get a point boost!

Good News we passed 30k.

Well we saw that coming for months.... Well you were the first to point it out...

Also: Watch out for:
General [M]ayhem, they have been creeping on the stats around our production for a while but finally ourproduced us and are currently set to beat us in 2016, well I expect maybe in a year or 2 we might see then near us in stats.

They rose up very quickly, we can hope that the lose steam just as fast. ;)

p543_BBA5_ext = 33 points.

Here is the page: http://folding.stanford.edu/psummary.html

I'd like to echo what MrMacman said earlier about us passing 30k a week. Not only have we reached that goal, we've surpassed it. Truly awesome! :D

Ha, well we were 28th for a short moment - but we'll be back again.

And a little looking into where this extra umph is coming from and it seems as though mc68k has been upping his output significantly. The past seven days we've done 7 days of 4k+ and the past 7 days he's done 1k+. He's a quarter of our output - you guys get some new machines or another lab open up?!?!

D

i haven't added enough to warrant the increase i've been getting. i would attribute the increase to less students in the labs (absolutely 24/7 folding) and the gromacs core/proteins.

i've seen it increase from ~5000 to ~8500/day in a short amount of time. the only machines ive added are a few P4s, an iMac and a DP 1.4 MDD. the majority of my machines are PCs, which seem to fold faster with the gromacs proteins.

keep an eye on bertmans output...i expect that to go up a few thousand in the next couple of weeks as well.

not as fast as you are going...sheesh, and I'm suppose to be a rocket scientist--you are really flying!

I got 10 of the new machines out and running last night--10 more to go. I'm in the last week before finals and both weeks will be killer on both me and the computers. I'll be loosing 8 athlons though when I bring in the next ten... sad but has to happen.

I'm glad I can help as much as I do :).

side note, the last couple of days have been great for me only because of one computer, a 3.06G P4 with hyperthreading... the thing has really helped me by turning out 14 WU's in the last week even though I've been using it for a few lan parties ;).

oh yeah, I'll be expanding my work to another department this summer, maybe they'll have some helpers there too :D.

Hey what are they doing with those old PCs? I could really use an old PC if anyone knows where they're getting rid of some. I just need it to interface with my GPS and upload maps to it.

Yeah, where are those old ones going?

Just don't dump them!

Heck I can use some old comps.

how many times I've heard this, I can't remember...

They are just going down the hall to another lab.

With the california school budget distruction we only got new machines because we made a deal with a few people who needed newer machines (they were using PII 180's). They get our not-so-old Athlons while we get the money they were gunna have to buy alot of computers for cheap. We hand picked the parts so each machine was about $400--saved on monitors (used the old ones) and a few other things we already had, like windows licenses.

I'm going to see if I can keep folding running on the machines in the new lab, but I'm not sure if it could happen.

Oh well a faster processor is always good.

true, but as the machines I'm loosing were made by gateway (the machines we got from them always seemed to be alittle "off") and rarely worked as fast as other similarly spec'ed comps, I'm not feeling to much of a lose ;P
