The MST aspect is what makes Samsung pay more useable for consumers. You don't have to see if they accept NFC or tap to pay. Old school terminals or new ones work 100% of the time. Granted depending on who accepts contactless payments increases your chances of using this new technology. However, the roll out for new payment terminals that include this new payment feature has been slow.I've never tried Samsung Pay, I'm curious to hear how you think it differentiates from Apple Pay and how it's better?
Why? I'm really trying to be non-judgemental about this and legitimately wondering what is the point? If I have an iPhone, why would I download an external app, give them my credit card number, and use some convoluted payment scheme to only pay online using a third party app? Most credit cards already offer virtual credit card numbers if safety is your concern, and honestly at that point i'd be more worried baout trusting Samsung with my data given how their smart TVs behave.
Who is going to unlock their phone and open an app to pay?

You may not be aware ( as an apple fan) but Samsung Pay is superior to Apple Pay in every way, shape or form. You just need to inform yourself a little more and maybe you won't be laughing so much.![]()
Wow. Color me uninformed, I didn't realize phones could mimic a card swipe. I thought it was NFC or bust. Does Android pay offer this functionality?Samsung Pay can work on both NFC and traditional card terminals. The latest flagships have a magnetic coil in them that beams the virtualized /tokenized card number to mimic a card swipe. This takes the guessing out of whether or not a store has NFC.
In addition, Samsung Pay seems to have more loyalty card options and will utilize the proximity sensor as an IR blaster to make barcodes easily scannable at the register.

I'm in Tampa and out of all the places I shop, only Walgreens and a cigar shop offer NFC payments. A few others use to but got rid of it due to it bringing more problems than solutions. I would assume that this was more of a lack of training due declined transactions that I would see from the cashier doing it wrong.
I love this new payments feature for its security and convenience, I just wish that the opportunity to use it increases.
For me, it seems like you don't know how Samsung Pay works.[doublepost=1464366546][/doublepost]

Apple Pay only lets you pay on terminals that offer NFC payment. Samsung Pay lets you pay on NFC terminals as well as regular, plain card readers that do not have any NFC capability whatsoever.

Do you even know what Samsung Pay does? How it works?
Is ApplePay in S Korea yet?Wait, WHAT? Why would anyone even consider using this over Apple Pay? Hahahahahahah!
And the point of this would be?
Got to love the "One post, brand new member" pro-samsung comment that every samsung article on here has.[doublepost=1464366546][/doublepost]

Following Poor Performance on Galaxy Phones, 'Samsung Pay Mini' Reportedly Heading to iOS
Where do you shop? CVS is literally the only place I've ever been that accepts NFC payments that accepts Samsung Pay and not Apple Pay. Anywhere that accepts NFC is technically capable of accepting Apple Pay. They have to be blocking it on the software side to not accept it.

I use Apple Pay. My husband uses Samsung Pay. Now that he's ironed out the kinks, he can use it anywhere we shop. Whether the people at the register know it or not. I can use my Apple Pay in about 4 places. I'd love to have access to both and stop carrying around a wallet altogether.
Samsung Pay is built on true innovation
I wouldn't really call buying out a company that has the needed patents "innovation", but to each his own.
