I just taped up the bottom speaker of my iPhone 16 and the top speakers is quite loud. Good for portrait videos like TikTok or YouTube shorts. So having one speaker should be fine/adequate on the Air.

I did the same a few days ago and realised I’d rather shove a spoon in my ear than having to use the stereo speakers in my 16 PM for any prolonged period of time. So it doesn’t really matter to me if I remove the bottom one since it is already too terrible to use.

For showing my wife something quick on YouTube both covered and uncovered are awful but provides enough volume to accomplish the task.

And the audio is split between the top/bottom so in reality the Air would sound better than what you tried.

If the downgrade in audio quality is too noticeable, there's always 2 weeks to return.

I just tested it with this:

You can hear super highs from the right speaker still - probabaly simulating surround, so if you hold your hand over it you can block that to see.

Volume, clarity etc is all fine with one speaker. It takes a little getting use to that the volume is skewed to the left tho.

On a side note - If you rotate the phone you can of course make it come out the bottom speaker and you can see they are pretty much identical
In their sound quality.

Keep in mind the
I was going to get the Sky Blue iPhone Air, but then I realised the differences between the Air and the new 17 Pros:

For me, the camera is a downgrade (from my iPhone 15 Pro Max). I need the zoom options, and I love the macro photography. I cancelled my pre-order, and I'm not getting the 17 Pro Max either. I'll likely just replace the battery and live with this for another year.
Keep in mind the Air doesn't even share it's one camera with the Pro, it has the sensor from the base model

Correct, Dave2D (I think) uploaded a video trying to use it on other phones, only fits the Air and its single-camera 'plateau.' (I can't even take myself seriously calling it that)
Agree, I can't believe the amount of reviewers who took it on straight away and started calling it the 'plateau'. It's a goddam camera bump

Just picked this up.

Apple (3149mAh) - £99
125g - 12w
123 x 71.5 x 6.5mm

Kuulaa Power Bank Ultra Slim (5000mAh) - £29
110g - 7.5w
103 x 68 x 6.9mm

Slower charging, but smaller and more capacity - and it looks closer to the white Air design.

It's just a little Kuulaa than the Apple one lol

If you wanted something closer to what Apple is offering I would just get an Anker MagGo, have been using one for a year and they're great

For sure Anker is the better battery and brand, but I was going to use this as a stop gap until they release something specifically for the Air. All the big name brands are a fair bit thicker than 6.5mm. Anyway for £29 it's a throw/give away item for me later.

Will the old MagSafe Battery Pack (discontinued) work with the Iphone Air? I use it frequently on my Iphone 15 pro... I have $1100 trade in credit with Xfinity on the 15 Pro. I was all set on the 17 Pro, but that Air is tempting. Would feel so much better in my pocket while hiking and taking walks.
Yes. MagSafe is standardised so all iPhones are compatible with the old/new MagSafe battery pack. I have the old one too which is really thick, I will absolutely purchase the new one if I do decide to pull the trigger on the Air rather than the 17 Pro.

Argh, I am completely torn about the Air. I have a feeling I'll go to the Apple Store for a 17 Pro and leave with the Air. I am a sucker for a very good looking device, even if it turns out not to be particularly practical for my use case.
I agonized over the decision and ultimately decided I needed to live with the air for a week to see if the trade off is worth it for me. I actually think there’s a good chance I’ll end up returning it, but like you I’m a sucker for the design, so I really want it to work for me.

Now that I am looking at the new Magsafe Air battery, I think white would be better than any other color ?

The charge light is orange which is dated because it reminds me of my Magsafe 1, 2, and 3 chargers used on my Macbooks.....

Battery pack does not charge any other model I have (14PM and 16 Pro) - the battery has to be placed 90 degrees from the phone.

No Air’s are now available for launch day delivery on the Apple Store app in the UK. Most 7-10 days and some 2-3 weeks.
Really?! I checked a couple air's and they were available so I didn't bother checking the rest of them, figuring they had a lot available.

Same issue with big bulky heavy phones as of late for me as my arthritis can flare up and make it difficult to use my current 16 Pro.

Can't wait for the Air - the thinner profile will mean less strength required to wrap my fingers around it.

Meloxicam anyone ?o_O
This was me with the PM, I don't know how many times I dropped that thing, a lot; but I've never dropped the 16 pro. I think I'm looking forward to the thinness more than the weight as well.

I've done that the last couple of years, I'd get the Plus at launch, hate it because of the 60 hz and inferior camera, and then go back in January for a Pro because they'd be restocked by then, but I don't think I'm going to do that this time around. I have a Pixel for the rare moment I need zoom, and the air will have 120 hz.

I didn't even think of that when I chose Cloud White, which I fell in love with when I watched a couple of the event videos. Yeah!

Air only retail boxes 😃

Didn't even see this post yesterday I was so into the pic of the black phone you put up, I love these boxes, I don't normally save the boxes but I think I will this time, these are special!
The only configurations available for release day delivery are Space Black & Sky Blue now. Other colours have 7-10 days and some 2-3 weeks in all storage options in UK.
For the air you mean? So the Cloud White and Gold are not available?
Same with me.

If there had been any Pro color that I really liked, I might not even have seriously thought about the Air. But once I started thinking, the whole thing kind of snowballed. Sky blue for me this year, with matching accessories.
Ditto. The Pro colors were just blah, and I didn't think it could ever get worse than the last couple of years. I had been wanting a copper color Pro forever, and I held out hope this orange would look copper in certain lighting conditions but I stopped fooling myself....this is Orange with a capital O.

I checked this morning and all colours and storage configurations are now showing 7-10 days or 2-3 weeks for some! None available for launch day delivery now on the Apple Store app.
That's good news then, because I want the Air to do well. Albeit not good news for those that might want to swap for a different color.

In the US for a Florida pick up I was able to order a gold Air yesterday for launch day. So, we might just have more availability in the states. Also, it seems like the gold was the least popular color, and I got the 1 TB configuration, so the least popular configuration of the least popular color.

I will go to an Apple Store on Friday (my day off) to check out all of the colors. I'm leaning Sky Blue. Could go Cloud White or Space Black if the moment suits it.

I'm also getting a cheap clear bumper case from Amazon to see how that works with the Air.

Nice find. Where did you pull the 7.5W number from? I don't see it on amazon. Anker has a 15W one but I wish it was as slim as this one.

Swipe through the pictures and it shows 15w/7.5w. There’s various versions of this with different style outsides but the internals are identical. On some of those descriptions it says 7.5w for iPhone and 15w for android.

If you use the provided cable then it’s 20w.

I been looking for an updated version with qi2 but they are all thicker. So this will do for now and I’ll get a new one if/when they get released.

Generally my use case will be to charge it in my pocket, or on a table eg at a restaurant etc, rather than carry it with a battery on it all the time. So I’m planning to use this for top ups rather than 24/7

Forgot to say iPhone now shows how long to 80% on the lock screen now, so I’ll test this vs my belkin MagSafe night charger and see the time difference. Will report back!

Ok my belkin boost change shows 31 minutes from 52% to 80%

This shows 58 minutes.

Of course charging slows down the higher you go.
