The only configurations available for release day delivery are Space Black & Sky Blue now. Other colours have 7-10 days and some 2-3 weeks in all storage options in UK.

The battery on the air is more than likely based on average use, not pro level, not power users; why so much comparison of the air to a Pro or Pro Max is very unfair, and I believe Apple made the 16 Pro statement as a point of reference and that's all. These phones are intended for two completely different markets.
Apple doesn't differentiate battery tests across iPhone lines - the tests are the same (the rated hours are video playback, at the same brightness level, same video, same audio level) The 40 hour Pro battery life is not shooting 4k60 while livestreaming and getting directions via GPS, it is just playing a locally stored video file at average brightness, just like it is for every other iPhone battery life test.

Space Black looks 🔥

That black is actually amazing looking !

It really is. All the Air colors are so nice it's hard to just choose one.

Guessing that titanium frame is what makes the look so elegant ?

Nah. Apple can get the same finish with other metals including aluminum (Jet Black iPhone 7). Caveat with aluminum is it will likely be more prone to bending at that thinness.

I'm 80% getting the Pro, but will wait to see what the reviews on the air are like in relation to performance and battery life. Also want to try them both in store to see what it's like, and choose a color

This really makes me think, like you, many people just don't want to risk it until they see it, and it'll instantly go out of stock after friday.

Just looking at the battery...

The EU battery endurance test is a standardised test so there's no 'apple trickery' to skew the numbers.

The test sequence includes the following tasks performed in succession until the battery charge is depleted entirely:

4min Phone call
30min Standby
9min Web browsing
30min Standby
4min Video streaming
1min web game
30min Standby
8min File upload/download
30min Standby
4min Local video playback

Full details:

"The "Battery endurance per cycle" rating is represented as the number of hours a single charge would last if the device is used in a repeated test pattern of use cases."

So basically they repeat the above until it's dead. Of course it would be skewed if there's standby optimisations more aggresively applied to one phone over another, but I think this is the best comparison we can get right now.

17 Pro Max
53:00h endurance, 1000 cycles

17 Pro
47:00h endurance, 1000 cycles

17
41:00h endurance, 1000 cycles

16 Pro Max
48:00h endurance, 1000 cycles

16 Pro
37:00h endurance, 1000 cycles

16
37:00h endurance, 1000 cycles

Air
40:00h endurance, 1000 cycles

omg, i'm second guessing my choise of white now :/
I'm still good with white. I had trouble choosing too. Every air color is gorgeous and that's unusual for me, normally there will only be one or two colors in any given year that I like. I don't really like any of the Pros this year, the orange, I need to see that one in person. The regular 17 colors are nice, although muted yet again. So the air hit it out of the ballpark on so many levels.

Yeah, it's the textures and the glossy imaculateness of it. I wonder if the back 'plateua' would scratch over time putting it on a table though. (not trying to make myself feel better about my choice - honest!)
During work hours I have my phone propped up on a stand, it it's not there it's in my hand or pocket. I don't set it down anywhere and I don't type or anything because of that wobble.
Cloud White is still the winner for me, but DAMN... The polished titanium is giving much more durable and scratch resistant jet black iPhone 7 2025 edition.👏🏼
I like that too. The titanium really grew on me these last two years after being not really thrilled with the whole idea.

Will the old MagSafe Battery Pack (discontinued) work with the Iphone Air? I use it frequently on my Iphone 15 pro... I have $1100 trade in credit with Xfinity on the 15 Pro. I was all set on the 17 Pro, but that Air is tempting. Would feel so much better in my pocket while hiking and taking walks.

And I'm so glad to see Apple switching it up and going glossy vs matte this time around with it too, despite debuting the finish only 2 years ago.👏🏼

Thought I'd take a look on how the pro max colors were doing in my immediate area (Seattle):

Orange: all versions sold out, with delivery windows 10/7-14
Deep Blue: the 512 and 2 tb available, delivery window on the 256 10/7-14
Silver: all versions sold out, with delivery windows 10/7-14

So silver and orange are hot, deep blue lagging behind a little. The regular Pro had a lot of availability too.

Plus China put a last minute hold on the iPhone Air because of the e-sim only. When it opens up… the Air will be hard to get. I think the will be a significant number of 17 Pro’s being returned for the Air.
