I've waited this long, 2 more months won't be a big deal. First I'd try to order it online. Maybe I'll be lucky and get one of the first. If that doesn't work I'll camp out at my local Apple store on release day. If I strike out there then I'll just wait and be happy when I get it.

I've only camped out one other time. That was an overnight thing. #3 in line and it was a great experience.

There's certainly nothing wrong with camping out if that's what somebody wants to do, but I think this may not be a successful event to try to do this with the iPhone X. Apple is trying to get customers to not camp out from stores anymore, they want those to order online. But, of course there are those who will be successful and achieving An X on launch day.

There is a point you reach though where you start to wonder whether to wait for the next one. If you are still waiting in February/March then it’s only 6 months to the new models.

I camped out last year, was second in line. But i live in a smaller city with an apple store. it sucked but would do it again for the 10
[doublepost=1506118597][/doublepost]

i was told by my local apple store today that they would have reservation times for the 10. so they will be getting some.

The employees at an Apple store know little about the stock this far away.

I managed to get a Jet Black plus last year on launch weekend and have secured launch day delivery on every previous iPhone pre-order so I am hoping that my luck continues this year.

I have had every iPhone (with the exception of the 7 which I did not order at all) on release day. I too am hoping to have the same luck this year. That said I am the least optimistic I have ever been. Within a month and I'll make the purchase... Anything more and I will just wait till next year.

It will be interesting to see how this affects everyones upgrade cycle and whether or not Apple continues with two separate release dates. I assume that this later release date is solely based on production issues and not some desire by apple to push the annual release window back.

If the delivery time is sometime next year, I would just wait until the iPhone 10s modle in 2018. Hopefully they would have all the bugs worked out, add a few additional features that we may like, and maybe even offer us a different size plus color. You know about Siri being approved with the next model year plus we had some minor issues with the screen, so waiting another few months it’s not gonna be a big deal.

Oct 27 start pre
30 - 60 second times for who fast can get it
otherwise wait between 6-8 weeks

sound like its avail at least Jan 2018

then new iphone leak after 4 months

999$ worth for half yrs

What A Life :)

I'm optimistic!!! Considering the chaos I went through last year to get the 7+.
  • (embarrassingly)...had to get AT&T bill current, found out AFTER going through IUP check night of pre-order!! So I lost additional time having to log into AT&T to catch up on bill (won't forget this year!!).
  • Locked out of Apple website for 15 minutes!
  • Applying for IUP (first time).
And still managed to get the phone I wanted, 1 week after launch!!

This year I'm prepared, but I'm expecting to have my hands on a device in 2018, hopefully before spring!! :eek:o_O:(

I generally pay in full so it makes the entire process take around ~10 seconds. I save the phone I want as a favorite in the Apple store app, make sure touchID is set up, and spam the app starting around 2:55am EST

True, but Unless they don’t sell any in stores and just sell it at the carrier store then they will be getting some. Never have they not had any stock of product at launch in my store. I guess I shouldn’t say never..lol

I highly doubt the phone will be available after the Holliday’s. It’s set up for holiday buying. They need this for there next quarter sales.

I would be disappointed but wait it out. Sometimes the phones come well before the estimated time. My 7+ will hold me down in the meantime. I would definitely not get the 8 as it’s the same design for a 4th year in a row.... and no putting glass on the back instead of aluminum doesn’t make it a design change.

I've said before if anyone who orders this phone on the first day has to wait 6 months for it, or even 3 or 4 months, Apple shouldn't have launched it this year, and probably wouldn't have.

The world doesn't revolve around us obsessive iPhone fans. If those of us who are planning to order at the stroke of 12:00 PST can't get a phone for months, how long will it take people who wait until they wake up at their normal time, possibly several hours later? Or those who wait for their lunch break? Or those who want to try it in store first, so they don't pre-order at all. If it's backordered by months within minutes or even seconds as people are suggesting, most people wouldn't get their's before the point where it makes more sense to just wait for the next one. You can't have a product that everyone knows will be replaced in 12 months and then release so few that the average person can't get one for the first 4-6 months.

So I don't think people's odds are as bad as they seem to think. Despite the absurd report that Apple isn't even starting production until 2 weeks before launch, there will be millions of them ready to land on launch day, and every week after that.

It’s one of the main reasons I pay in full. Like some others here, I have never missed a launch day delivery, and I credit it solely to paying outright.

I usually just wait a few months after launch to buy. Everything's typically in stock then, and I get to read a few month's worth of users' real world experiences with the new model.

I have a 7P currently it's definitely serving me well I am just looking to downsize to an X. If it's 8 weeks then so be it.

Rumor has it demand should catch to supply some time in July since they can only product 10,000'a day due to oled screen limitations.

Apple needs some sort of a Galaxy Note 7 fiasco to humble themselves a bit. Not anything that would endanger the public, but something really stupid that forces them into clean-up mode for a bit. I say this as an Apple aficionado and Mac user since 1995; Apple and many of its consumers will continue to ride the crest of seeming invincibility until the wave breaks against the rocks. It's only a matter of time.

Sadly anything close to that would probably come close to destroying the company.

Samsung has construction, finance, insurance and lots of other divisions so if mobile tanks they still make money.

Apple doesn’t and it’s quite scary from an investor standpoint how much of the bottom line is tied to a single product line.

Depending on how the pre approval process goes, I may have to resort to paying in full!

That is the only thing that has me nervous. I would really like to get on the IUP this time around, but I'm nervous that taking the time to get approved for the IUP is going to push me a lot farther back in the queue than I care to be. I can afford to buy it outright but would much rather have the 0% with the ease of swapping in a year if possible. Decisions, decisions....

I think that is a decision a lot of people are going to face. I feel like the initial wave will be IUP upgrades and people paying in full

They did that for existing customers on the 8/8+. For people not currently on the IUP, they had to do it during purchase.
Got it. Do you know how much of a delay this causes during the purchase? I know last year I ordered the 7 plus through the Citizens One loan (without AppleCare)... there was no delay and I received my phone on release day.

There have been a fair number of rumors that supplies are going to be extremely limited for the X. So what would you do if presented with a delivery estimate more than 8 weeks from the pre-order date? I don't know if I'd place the order and wait that long. Under 4 weeks and I'd definitely place the order. Beyond that I'd start considering other options. Depending on the weather (West Michigan so it could be in the 20s overnight in early November) I may camp out. There probably isn't a lot of harm in placing the order and cancelling later.
Like I did for my 7 Plus Jet Black, I would try to place my pre-order within the first minute or two after pre-orders opening, irrespective of the delivery estimate. Then while I wait for the delivery, I would keep a close look-out for store stock to become available and then order one for pick-up the moment one becomes available. That's how I got my 7 Plus last year. If the latter works out, I would cancel the pre-order. If it doesn't work out, while I keep waiting for the delivery, I am sure the rumours would start coming in for the 2018 model. I can then decide whether to wait out for the delayed 2017 phone delivery or just wait it out for the next one. The only problem with this is is that I have committed to sell my 7 Plus for €680 for a recycling site and so I won't be too happy ti keep going with my 5s for a long time. So, I might cave in and get an 8 Plus if I decide to wait it out for the next iteration.
