Oh yeah, Eddy. Haven't thought about him in a long time.

Meanwhile, I never use Siri or Apple Music and iTunes is full of bugs.

You only need to look at the results... there’s not a single thing Eddy manages that’s done exceedingly well. In fact, under his leadership, Apple has fallen behind or remains far behind in whatever he oversees. More telling is how quickly Siri and the App Store improved after those responsibilities were handed to Craig and Phil respectively.

He’s a good maintenance guy but not the creative leader that Apple needs for its services. He’s always a couple of steps behind the competition and clearly the weak link in Apple’s hardware, software and services strategy. That’s probably why Steve never promoted him to the upper ranks, and keeping him around has been Tim’s biggest failing IMO.

Siri did NOT improve at all under Craig. No new features other than a more realistic voice and guess what that came from an acquisition that was already under negotiations from Eddie his major skillset. I posted an article that highlights all things Siri since inception to Craig. Have a read through it.

There’s a difference between aging and getting fat. Tim Cook is just as old and very fit, probably has a lot more on his plate than Cue. The point is Eddie’s appearance oozes of someone who has gotten too comfortable and whose true passions lie outside of his responsibilities at Apple. If you don’t want to buy the appearance theory, look at everything he manages and how hopelessly complicated and behind the competition these are. The guy isn’t some junior level manager, he’s a SVP, is paid handsomely and should perform accordingly. He’s not though and should be fired immediately.

There is a difference yet genetics and aging play a HUGE role in your physical fitness abilities.

Cook has gotten very fat and out of shape the last 3 major presentations; how could you not even notice that? Lol.

Your physical fitness has NOTHING to do with your business acumen nor your performance unless your mobility is affected: this is not the case with Eddie. While we’re on it then by your arrogantly narrow minded summation of physical fitness equaling ones ability to do their job then Phil Schiller should’ve been ousted over a decade ago. My word. We don’t know if he’s had medical conditions affecting his abdomen - notice his hands nor legs are not fat either?! Seems to me it’s somethhing else that is affecting his prego belly - potentially high sugar intact, lactose intolerance or gluten rejection.

Furthermore you don’t work at Apple in a level to really KNOW if Eddie is not doing his job or not. He’s also a board memeber of Ferrari.

How’s this? Every time I watch him on stage, I f’ing cringe. I dislike the guy, at least from what I’ve seen. Just an opinion. Like yours.

Let’s let people have opinions without trying to demean them.

Where in the quotes you’ve made of my comments have I sounded demeaning of someone else’s opinion? I asked for reasons to explain for their opinions of dislike based on assumptions he doesn’t do his job well. I’ve defended mine with reason.

I thought the days of being judgemental of how someone looks should affect heir job was gone in the 80’a a la revenge of the nerds era. Guess I was wrong.

Do you have a source for this? Not anything I’ve read/heard ever suggested he was being groomed for that. Also if this was true why would Steve write a letter to the board recommending Tim replace him as CEO? According to Adam Lashinsky in his book about Apple there were only 4 Apple employees at Steve’s burial service - Tim Cook, Jony Ive, Eddy Cue and Katie Cotton. Seems Tim, Eddy and Jony were closer to Steve than Scott ever was.

There was an article on macrumors about this. There was the smithsonian interview of Apple employees that worked on the iPhone OG were forstall mentioned his friendship of Jobs.

"Always doing too many things" -- yeah, like sleeping at work and over-eating.

Eddy? Is that you? Haha. Siri absolutely took a leap forward under Craig. Even the way information was presented took a leap forward, besting a Google assistant.

What "leap" in less than a year did Siri actually take under Craig?
Natural Speech Recognition and Vocal Audio ... Alex Acero (2013 - Present)
PS: This cold cat was with Apple in 1990-1991 as the Snr Voice Engineer, then went to Microsoft for 19yrs and another 2 companies and returned! Oh yeah you BEST BELIEVE he's worth his weight in iOS/Siri improvements!

Machine Learning?
Anoop Sinha (2014-2016) He's now at FaceBook.

UI Presentation of Siri? Really?
That IS EXPECTED under Craig and anything horrible before IS CRAIGS fault as he's headed the UI for iOS and macOS for the past 6yrs. All you have is the Siri presentation and how it bested Google Assistant, really?

FYI back to Eddie ... (2017 tweet) but looks like he was having more success in India than Cook did.

Thanks for that Eddy. Maybe you should spend more time focused on skating to where the puck will be instead of where it was 5 years ago and defending yourself on macrumors. Let us know when you regain the lead Steve left you with in music and video.

To let tiny startups like Spotify, Netflix and Roku race past you in markets Apple once dominated is downright embarrassing. Not to mention you you let an online retailer beat you at AI! And after all these years, the fact that you can’t close the gap with Google maps is just sad.

Let me know when anything you manage actually lives up to Apple’s high standards and is looked upon by the industry as the gold standard, instead of as a has been or laughing stock, like planet of the apps and the disastrous Apple Music launch. Apple’s hardware and software teams won’t be able to carry you forever.

I'm not Eddie .. that is easy to find looking at my post history on varied topics over the years. Some piece of work not accepting better debate than just personal dislike. Referencing a 25yr old quote from a non related topic, and from a very linear profession ... classic. I'd like to think you create the "puck" or create a whole new offence in a different rink as a better analogy to what Apple should be doing.

Netflix ... their spending a LOT and it's not related to revenue, sales as it used to be - I posted about this a few weeks ago with better research than I did in this debate ... have a search. Spotify maybe beating Apple, but without any profits yet for how long can they hold out? Hmm. Roku ... ? By the very nature of AI and the need to use a neural network, then yes an online retailer SHOULD beat Apple at AI ... online is THE biggest neural network capable on the planet! Google Maps, from the same online retailer SHOULD be better, especially with that many more devices feeding location data 30+ times a minute EVEN if disabled, and with additional Apple users having GMaps doing the same thing. (Again there is a thread posted on GMaps uploading data even if closed or disabled explicitly by the user right here on Macrumors featuring this).

Gold standard from Eddie at Apple?
iTunes Music Deals
iTunes library content ... still KING in all the streaming or purchase industry!
Still ongoing and has been for years ... say again?

Do you even listen/read what you're typing and actually give thought or are you so blinded by your dislike for an Apple employee based on his physical looks or just his name and diatribes of threads ready to pounce? How about researching his efforts and what he's brought to Apple for so many years before attacking the guy outright and spitting nonsensical claims ... I've bested you at just about every listing you've posted. You cannot sensibly debate back with content ... just mentioning other companies and frustration. Nice.

Have a coke and a smile ... I'm too sexy for this debate ;)

I think that we should all cut down on personalised attacks against Mr Cue.

None of us know him or really know what’s going on at Apple (I’d wager).

For me, it just seems that his portfolio is too big for anyone to handle.

Also, I wonder if the relatively small senior exec team is going to keep on serving Apple well & that many of its members are expected to handle too much. That may be the root cause.

I have to conclude that Eddy’s genius is hardly recognised by currently living creatures.
So my last hope is, he will update iCloud to save his brain contents and transplant it to another urban Bokito in the future.
Look forward to BrainStream®️ - as only Apple can do - that will allow for The Return Of The New Eddy.

Where did I mention how Cue looks? I cringe when he gets on stage because he is an Uber dork.

Yes I remember that profile but I don’t remember seeing anything about Jobs or the board grooming him to be CEO. Neither of those profiles really suggested he was being groomed to take over. After he left the stories we got were he didn’t get along well with the rest of the executive team. Bob Mansfield allegedly refused to be in meetings with him if Tim Cook wasn’t present. Other stores claimed he would send out emails to his team ripping on other teams within Apple. John Gruber said he heard Forstall and Schiller didn’t get along. Some people look at this and think he’s a mini Steve and that’s a good thing. The way I see it is from a personality standpoint he had all the bad qualities of Steve without some of the good qualities. And when Steve was there he kept the bad tendencies in check.
