Organic Purple

I have absolutely no idea what this plant/flower is but its bright.

I have a few though not taken in the right time frame. I've only recently found the photog section here so next time I'll take them within the allotted time frame.

This one is from the Tokyo fish market with a plain point and shoot. The color contract between the blue plastic and orange/red octopus was interesting.

One more from the fish market. I liked this composition because of the many elements.

I really love my 50mm Nikon lens. Sharp focus and great soft backgrounds.

There is no rule that the photos must be taken during the challenge period
the rule says

2. Produced within the challenge period if possible. the important words are "If possible"

So don't worry to much. We would prefer you to post lots of pictures.

PS. there is a new suggestions thread for the next challenge if you haven't seen it https://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=9530109#post9530109

I've been browsing these forums for a while and here's my first post. I used to do a lot of photography back in high-school and after 12 years I'm finally finding time to get back into it as a hobby. Thanks,

Yeah I saw that it was only 'if possible', but I like the timeframe idea because it will force me to go take some pictures :)

Checking out the other thread now.

Well I was sorting through some old photos and found this one which seems pretty organic to me!

We're glad you're here.

I like this subject. It is very menacing in a sci-fi sort of way. It looks like the tentacles are reaching out to get me. Very effective. There are 2 things I would do differently: 1) The focus should be on the flowers. As is, the focus is at the middle of one of the tentacles. 2) I would brighten the yellows a little to give a bit more life to the flowers. That, however, is a personal thing. On the positive side, the framing on this and the depth of field are spot on.

Keep posting.

Thanks for the welcoming and the constructive criticism. I completely agree on the focusing. Unfortunately it was very windy and I was busy BBQ'ing so I only had time to grab about 6 shots so our food didn't burn :)

I'll have to see if I can snap a few more shots before I pull those weeds. Thanks again,

^^ CALM DOWN. I was going to post some organic molecules, but my super-ultra-micro-macro didn't get here on time...

This is as close as I could get - quality not good - still searching for the original. This is a fruit fly impaled on a protein sequencer - yep at the molecular level. The drop of liquid (containing protein sample) on the right is sprayed over the cone detector in the middle - and measured. Except when a dead fly (2mm) is sucked into the sealed unit somehow. The droplet is approx 0.25 mm.

^^ I saw the first one when you posted it in the Weekly Contest. For some reason this looks brighter. I like the twisty organic forms in the railing. Interesting design and nice photo. The skylights in the second are wonderful. The lighting must have been a challenge and you did a very nice job with it.

Been busy lately, but thanks for the comments.

I did lighten the first one a bit, going for a more pastel look to the colours, but I think it could probably stand a bit more lightening.

The white balance in the second image was a killer - RAW saves the day!

Anyway, on to the next challenge...

I dig the color and the contrast. Quite ambient.

Here's another architectural feature inspired by organic design. Reminds me of so many spiral patterns in nature. I pretend that the light at the bottom is bioluminescence.

Where did you take this picture? Is it in a building or a well? It reminded me of this one I took last year.
