Child developer developing for children gamers?

I fear I’m missing something. In what world do Epic feel that they can come out of this on top?
And yet they'll point the finger at Apple. As if they couldn't continue to provide support for iOS users immediately by simply removing their deliberately invalid update. By making these mobile players suffer, they'll be upset, and Epic is standing there trying to make out like their hands are tied and Apple is holding the game hostage, when the exact opposite is true. I'm not invested in this fight - beyond holding Apple stock - but this behavior still makes me feel icky (to use the technical term). It’s their choice of course, but Epic treating Fortnite players as pawns in their little stunt shows just how little Epic care about them.
a lot of games on ios/mac are made on resources provided by epic for free to developers that apple doesn't pay epic for. same with unity
this not only includes the game engine but also assets
because it’s not just Epic. When iOS devices cannot have Epic games, xBox or Stadia people will eventually speak with their wallets. Of course if Candy Crush is your bag, you’ll be fine
lol at a Epic thinking holding back the Mac app somehow increases their leverage.
While I am not a dev that statement seems false based on this link:

Download Unreal Engine
Follow these steps to download and install Unreal Engine.www.unrealengine.com
Licensing for unreal engine is not free to game devs and seems to only be free for small, non-game, indie devs creating 3d or free content.

They could release on the Epic Store on macOS if they weren’t being stubborn puppets for the CCP. Apple or Microsoft don’t make anything from that desktop app.
But the quicker people give up Fortnite the better anyway. I worry that all this online role play has spilled over violently into the real world. That’s worth thinking about and investigating no matter what our opinions of games are. Some people can be affected by spending too much time in a fantasy.
No, it was 30% from the beginning. They were cheered when they announced this because it was well below the roughly 50% that developers were accustomed to paying retail outlets for distribution. Nobody here seems to remember that, though.I still don't get all of this. As far as I can remember, The App Store launched 2008 and the 30% cut was there from the very beginning. Or did Apple lure in developers with a 10% cut and later on raised it to 30%?
What about the android version? Is it being updated? Maybe they are only updating the side loaded version and not the google play version. Why is it that all the news on this seems to be about iOS and not about google and the play store?
That’s not really true. Or at least not very different than what Apple does. Unreal charges devs off the gross once they make over a certain amount of profit.a lot of games on ios/mac are made on resources provided by epic for free to developers that apple doesn't pay epic for. same with unity

That would be an interesting wrinkle. I’m not a lawyer, so I have no idea if that would work, but I’m guessing by the same justification you just made, Apple could excuse itself very easily. Epic might be stuck though—depends on the TOS. Kinda hope someone does this. . .Does anybody know if users have the right to ask for their money back from Apple/Epic? Or if users can launch a class-action suit against them. Apple/Epic collected funds to provide a service based on the rules at the time of purchase. Epic decided to break the rules with complete disregard to the consequences to the paid users. Further to this, a judge has already determined this is self imposed by Epic and can be easily be remedied by reinstating the status quo until the matter is settled. I have no problem with Epic wanting to stand their ground, but they should give all iOS users their money back on all purchases since the users are the ones suffering the consequences of Epic's decisions and actions without having any say in the matter. By not allowing purchasers to get their money back, it is setting a precedence that any developer can collect a ton of money, break the rules and stop or hamper the promised service they were supposed to provide.
That's why Epic Games for the first time ever makes you able to keep playing on an older version of the game (on ios/macos) when the new Season drops.Does anybody know if users have the right to ask for their money back from Apple/Epic? Or if users can launch a class-action suit against them.
And your data ... for free ... so a bunch of 1%ers can get even richer off of you ... have a nice day.Unlike Apple, Google doesn't have overbearing control of your device to disrupt apps and services since they provide a way to side load apps. For the case of Fortnite side loaded app it will continue to be updated and purchases made direct from Epic. Only thing you're giving up is the convenience of Google Play Store. Similar to paying by cash or credit analogy at gas stations.
This is crazy. Most of us agree that Apple can be very particular in their opinions and someone could make a good case for or against the app store. But what in the world is Epic trying to do. This PROVES that iOS (and MacOS) is not a monopoly as it pertains to Fortnite. This is simply Epic not liking Apple's terms and conditions and so they are not going to develop Fortnite on the Mac. No big deal, there are a lot of Apps not on the App store.
"Judge, iOS is a Monopoly, there is NO OTHER way for us to sell games so um we decided to sell games on 4 or 5 other platforms and stores. But yeah, monopoly!"
