This is a mass produced consumer item made quickly with cheap labor. It's not going to be perfect. No matter how much you paid for it (your choice) it is what it is. You paid full price and expect a flawless phone? You chose to pay that much of a premium on a cheaply made consumer device. The premium you are paying for is the Apple name.

This is how Apple makes so much money. Make it cheap, charge a fortune.

You would think with all these returned iPhones with dings and knicks, there would be an abundance of supply at the Apple Store...

meh, my black one came with 2 dents. Didn't want to bother swapping it in since it's covered by apple care plus so i'll just swap it in a year or so. Is yours covered by ac+?

I love this guy. No but seriously, I hate you. I hate people whos laying off their plan like this. As if were interested what you do with the phone? Youre gonna scam people off 500 iPhones 5? Ok, I dont care. You know what, keep those plans to yourself. Its not even remotely interesting

If the nick or dent were the same size as the ones I see in these threads, I would not care.

Agreed. I do a quick look over on a new car for major issues. A tiny finger nail size nick, I probably wouldn't even notice or care about if I found it. I don't go over every inch of a car with a magnifying glass looking for issues.

My iPhone 5 has a really tiny nick by the sim card tray. Probably from when it was put in at the factory. No biggie. It's already got 2 very slight wear marks on each side that came from me. I have a habit of sticking it in a cup holder in my car while I drive and it bounces around. In 2 years, I'll sell it and buy another. Life goes on and the phone is still bad ass.

If there were a decent sized dent, the dealer would have had it popped out, repaired before you even saw it. You'd have no idea it damaged in shipment and repaired.

The iPhone is a mass produced electronic device. They'll make 50+ million of these things. No way you'll ever see the quality of it like you'd see in a car.

Comparing it to cars would be like Apple retail stores opening and inspecting every single phone, weeding out the messed up ones and selling the perfect ones.

No, I wouldn't. Much like the paint scrapes I have on my car now, I don't care.

maybe when the rust hits you might ;)

Anyways I will see what they say if they say go ***** yourself so be it but it shouldn't have wear damage and I was asking if anyone has done this and what was said.

exactly so when I get my phone I am the one who notices and does something about it.

I feel like if I went in after work (I dont have the box with me, would this cause an issue) I would be laughed at because it seems so finnicky.

You obviously know its something so minuscule or you wouldn't have posted this. You are wasting the employees time and are preventing someone who actually needs help from getting it. I can't imagine how you are in everyday life for items that are more than "$400"

I posted it because there is uproar at the black ones but hardly any issues with the white so I was asking politely. I always intended to go in a find out. There are threads about earphones and how ads are deceptive but mine was an issue to see if any one has an issue and I get this?

Because your "issue" is really a non-issue. You would have to literally scan every square cm of your phone (which I'm sure you did) to find an imperfection that small. The people who have dented and really bad scuffed up phones out of the box I can understand. You don't fall into either of those categories.

I did look and it is easy to spot because when using the phone the light catches it and makes it noticeable. It was an issue with the 3G/3GS bezel too

I know (my brother and a neighbor) and have met many people with severe cases of OCD, but the people on this iPhone forum make the people that I know appear normal.

Some people let the tiniest things in life bother them.
I wish a tiny nick like that was my only problem and I could waste precious time and effort from my busy schedule to be as nit pick.

How do you find time to post in a forum about nit picks? ;)

I take a few breaks to browse online with my phone.
Is that ok?:)

Sure. :)

I think Apple (although less and less as time goes on for me) spells quality. I totally get someone being bummed about a nick or a defect on their shiny new toy. Should it be important than the real things in life? Of course not but this is the universe of MacRoumors where this stuff is supposed to go.

True that.
Here a nick is the end of the world:D
