Is there a market for Android tablets?

Android essentially gave up on tablet software years ago. Even big tech companies don’t have Android tablet specific apps. It’s just blown up phone apps.
There definitely is. Samsung sells a lot of tablets and is basically keeping the Android tablets afloat by itself. They are improving software and doing arguably better than apple here in this regard.

They’re collaborating with Microsoft and now Luma fusion to bring better software to the tablets.
android itself is still not amazing on tablets but Samsung has done a lot to improve the experience

Samsung events are one of the most boring ones on Earth, this one is not an exception. Super unorganized and just a big mess.

Zero takeaways from this Apple user. 😝
I was thinking about taking a PTO today and spending the entire day over at samsungrumors.com to try and convince Samsung users that their way is wrong and that their CEO should be fired. 😜

Typing that out and looking at it and thinking that some people actually do just that makes it seem even more bizarre than I already thought it was - and I already thought it incredibly bizarre.

Which, in hindsight was a huge mistake. They could be killing it with real laptop replacement tablets now without the annoying iPadOS restrictions imposed by Apple in order to protect macbook sales.

So notch isn't that bad Samsung?!

There was a period 3-7 years ago where the hardware advantages of Samsung devices were compelling. Now that Apple has caught up on silicon, cameras, displays, etc., the advantages are negligible. Until folding devices and AR become mainstream, the differentiator is software, far from Samsung's strength.

I actually was a really impressed with the level of productivity that Samsung’s customization of Android software allows on the Tab S line. I am hopeful, but not expecting big changes to iPadOS 16. I think Apple will begin to see decreases in sales of the Pro models if they don’t offer something that truly makes them different than a $300 iPad.

The competition is a good thing. I think they knocked it off the park. Not going to lie, these are some massive improvements.
I expect many here will pipe in with "Why is Samsung on the front page" but I appreciate MR's decision to cover a major competitor's keynote. I likely would not otherwise have any clue what Samsung was doing. So, thanks MR.

And for Samsung users, I'm sure they're feeling good about what they saw today. Yah for them. And here's the fun part - it's completely possible to let them enjoy their day. Both Samsung and Apple user bases have fun things to discuss and - crazier - both platforms can coexist. ?

The fact that Samsung needs to promise Android updates for a certain number of years is still beyond ridiculous. They don't make the operating system and thus should have nothing to do with this. If they didn't insist on shipping their own fudged version of Android, people could just upgrade their Android version whenever they please and the world would be a better place.

If I'll ever buy an Android phone it'll be a Google Pixel, because hell will have to freeze over before I'll allow Samsung to be the useless middleman for my mobile operating system.
Google does 3 years of OS and 5 Security

Agreed. Apple has never had the industry leading hardware except their silicon. Now they have hardware that is as good or better than any one else in most areas, with the advantage of incredible optimization with the software. The only area where they are clearly behind is zoom on their cameras. It’s not even close with the Pixel and S21 Ultra, never mind the S22 Ultra.

Wi-Fi 6E is already obsolete.

Wi-Fi 7 is the future.

as someone who works in this field, thats not going to happen. Vendors have spent time and money etc into 6E, I dont see 7 happening until 2025. wifi 7 is not ratified etc yet and that takes time, client chips and AP radio chips take time, etc, etc, etc 6E is here now and its Greenfield, as in with 6E there will be no crappy old clients on it to bring it down.
