Maybe because it is! Seriously, people like you in denial are the reason why we will never be able to live without it. Wear a mask, get vaxxed & protect those you actually love & care about.

I am 3 times vaccinated. Everyone will eventually get it. With or without mask. It’s just a matter of time and unfortunately some people will be the unfortunate ones but just like with any other decease, not everyone can be saved. Our tight restrictions have finally been lifted a month ago and it made no difference whatsoever on the hospitalization rate (which has been pretty low with Omnicron anyway. In fact, the mortality rate is indeed roughly the same as a seasonal flu now).

Right now it’s more like „lol … I got Covid again. How annoying“ „ooops my test was positive“

Somehow I still haven’t had it yet. I feel almost left out at this point

Yeah, but the most advanced semiconductor fabs are in Taiwan. Furthermore, TSMC has more than half of the global foundry revenue marketshare.

It's no surprise that US is nervous about this, and has "encouraged" TSMC to build a fab or two in the US.
Eh, US-based fabs are not exactly basic either. We have 5nm and 7nm fabs here.

But more importantly, those advanced fabs are not making the chips that are most needed. For example, at one point the huge supply chain constraint was power management chips, which are routinely made at 300nm or even 1+um. Even the infotainment or controls chips going into cars need be durable and long lasting, so the tried and true and well-tested 65nm node is super important to global supply chain.

I'm not denying that it's a problem, but in terms of stuff that we rely on China/Taiwan for, Chips are maybe halfway down the list.

I mostly agree with you on this point. However, in the context of this thread, when it comes to our precious iPhones and Macs, TSMC's fabs are of very high importance. Infineon or TI or even Intel aren't going to be making A17 or M3 chips.

Till today, I didn't realize "till" was a real word. I had always assumed it was an informal short form for "until", but it isn't. It's actually a separate word that has the same meaning as "until".
Mandela effect. It used to be 'til.

Apple, stop relying on China, please. They’re the reasons they’re costing you a loss of dollars now.

Why can't Apple can focus on India and built the new iPhones there?

Because that facility is under its own struggles that are not entirely unlike what has taken place in China

Foxconn is building a fab stateside. This is already known

Nah. Apparently, till is the oldest word. Until is a more recent word than till, but both are correct.

Some people say 'til should not be used unless in very informal writing, as it serves as a short form of until but is confused with till.

I learned all this today. :)

"So there you have it: you will probably wish to avoid ’till, use ’til advisedly, and use both until and till freely. And if you use till in writing and someone tells you that you have made an error, simply take the extra L off the end of the word and poke them in the eye with it."

:D

No.

Quit telling people what to do. A little common sense goes a long way and I think everyone knows that. If you’re sick, stay home. Same thing as if you had the flu. Otherwise, weigh the risks of going out in public and make that decision for yourself. Masks, vaccines… all personal choices. Besides, if there’s anything we know now, it’s that the efficacy of these preventative measures is… inconsistent at best.

Masks are inconsistent because no one is wearing them, masks are more effective if everyone is wearing them.
And sick people do not stay home, because they lose pay.

Yep, Im getting ready for my next booster.
I'm pretty healthy so I wouldn't worry about catching myself but I wear a mask
and get the shots for the older people around me.
If I weren't around older people I might try to catch it for the extra immunity.
But there are no guarantees that I might not be able to beat it.
I know healthy young people that have died.
We're all tired of this but not wearing a mask is just lazy.

Do you wear a mask during flu season before Covid? If not you were putting older folks in danger..

Burger flippers are demanding $15/hour in the US. What do you think those iPhone line worker will demand if they move production to the US? Plus all the restrictive regulations imposed on US business that they don't have in China or India or other countries. Do you really want $5000 iPhones?

It may be some combination of automated processes and humans that allow them to move here?
The government subsidizes the oil and military industries why not tech?

Covid killed more people than the flu though and that's with all the restrictions we had. Imagine how much worse it would have been if we didn't do anything.
I bet a lot of states would not have restricted this much if they knew the economic burden. So many businesses shut down and never re opened.

For what he’s worth, I’m vaccinated and wear a mask only when required.

But this is just insane, need to move on with life.

I think i read that we are around 60% that have had COvid so between that and the shots
were getting closer to moving on.
I wear a mask in the market or smaller places cause its rampant right now.

lol. I never wore a mask, never got a vaccine and got covid and it was literally less than my seasonal allergies. If covid affects you that much, maybe you should have thought of your health years or even decades earlier. ?
So I told that teacher lady, the only letters that I know are U. S. and A

Why are people still pretending covid is a thing? Get over it. It's a cold. Take care of yourself and you'll be fine. People are so weird.
Good God the ignorance on display in this post is breathtaking. Yes in some cases, maybe most cases, it’s milder than a cold. But there’s something about this virus that will exploit even the slightest vulnerability in young and old alike.

You can’t just dismiss the human suffering this pandemic has caused. I won’t let you.

When my mom was recently in a physical therapy rehab place recovering from a slip and fall accident, her roommate was trying to get back the ability to walk again after Covid. The poor woman was a nurse. She lost her brothers, both were doctors, to Covid. A simple cold wouldn’t have taken out her family and her like that.

Oh, and Covid contributed to the death of my father and outright killed his best friend’s two sons who were young strong men in the prime of life. One left behind a wife and kids. So…I’ll see myself out of this post before I say something really ugly to you.
