The iphone in that stock photo looks really sharp. I've always preferred hard edges on the 4 and 5 as opposed to the rounded edges on the 6.

Oh, and....wait for it....as this one won't be aluminum we will once again be able to get the iPhone in BLACK!!! :D

(well, yeah, like the rendering pictured above) :) Surprised no-one else is losing their 5#!T over that! :)

Who is being lazy?

Is it the lack of a completely redesigned case that defines laziness to you? Apple developing the best SoC for mobile devices in the world is laziness?

I mean the press creating this atmosphere that Apple is saving something really special for next year just because it has a round number attached to it.

I'm one of those suckers who bought the 3rd gen.

I never had any problem with my 3 ... NONE ... the ONLY reason I upgraded to an IPP this year was because 1) it was time and 2) doing a lot of research these days and the split-screen has become invaluable along with the need for more storage.

Incredible how so many let a company charge them premium prices for stone age tech like a 1080P or worse, 720P LCD screen. Can't ever imagine letting a company rip me off with premium prices for a product that clearly is not giving me premium hardware. What's even worse, these same people will repeat the same BS reason the company spews out of their greedy mouth, for not giving you the much more advance and superior hardware. Absolutely incredible. Smh.

Classic uninformed complainer.

Never created or marketed a thing.
Never ran a company or produced a thing.
Not tuned into what is technically possible, R & D etc.etc.

But, reserves right to call Apple lazy, as in not working.
(They made all their money by sitting in their offices looking out the window)

Granted they have been slow lately, but they always were.

It's just magnified now, when the competitors throw out product after product to see what sticks.

Easiest would be to just not buy what is not good enough for them.

Apple is not changing what they are doing.

Plus it is not necessary to keep redesigning the outer . I work with what it does and is inside.

So, next iPhone, faster, more memory etc. and I'll be there again. 2-4 year cycle is fine.

I'm very interested to see how Apple handles this year's iPhone announcement. Expecting damage control to be at 100%.

Plus everyone I know is not buying Macs because we all wait for hardware.
If THAT is a disappointment as well, Apple will have a few bad quarters ahead.

I will not buy the IP7 on day one, but I might after iFixit revealed the internal specs.
This all depends on how well my iPhone 6 battery will last.

I would love to see a better screenon the IP7, but I guess it's not happening.
OLED is not that important, you can build good LCD's.

OLED is interesting if you need a section of your display to constantly display stuff.

iPhone 4 2.0? I will say, iPhone 4 was my first iphone and honestly, it has been my favorite so far.

Yep, I'm another with exactly the same view. I've used almost every model (setting them up for others etc) but the iPhone 4 was my first iPhone and I still like it the best, though the SE is close. Other than lacking control centre I preferred the experience of iOS then too, not a fan of the stark bland iOS 7+ and OS X 10.10+ look (just IMHO). Although the insane skeuomorphic thing was getting too much in places by iOS 6, I will concede.

My 32GB iPhone 4 is now my lossless iPod steadfastly stuck on iOS 5.1.1 and never being updated if I can help it!

I do look forward to seeing what Apple make for the 'tenth anniversary' iPhone though. I'd like to see a new look for iOS as well as the hardware itself.

Here we go with this ******** again. SO ****ING WHAT? Is this an excuse to be lazy this year? No, it's not.

Yeah! And last year too, they should have released this phone then! Oh, and 2014! Wait, 2013, yeah 2013, they should have had this phone then! or 2012. 2011? 2010... this just should have been the first iPhone released. Oh, if they had released this in the 90s then they'd really dominate the market.

lazy I tell ya.

The only thing that sucks for Apple is that after they release this redesign next year, we'll probably all be back to, saying, "This is a boring incremental upgrade!" in 2018, 2019, and probably 2020, as well.

So it's "lazy" not to rush out a total redesign simply for the sake of accommodating your short attention span? If you don't want the new version, don't buy it. They don't owe you anything, and it's not like YOU are designing anything at all.

If these leaks get traction beyond the geek/rumors crowd, iPhone 2016 is going to have seriously bad sales. Most people will wait a year if they know something truly awesome is coming. Will be interesting to see how forward looking people are with AAPL stock if they have a few more bad quarters in anticipation of a monster upgrade cycle in 2017.

Apple did something similar to this in 2012 with the introduction of "the New iPad" (aka the iPad, 3rd gen with retina display.) Six months later - breaking the year-long release cycle for the first and only time - the 4th generation was released and was much improved. I'm one of those suckers who bought the 3rd gen. Never again.

Yep, I bought the Verizon third-gen iPad because I wanted an iOS device that could connect to the LTE network and provide an LTE hotspot for my iPhone. I was very happy with it initially; but man, was I kicking myself six months later. Now, I have a T-Mo SIM in that iPad and it gets used primary as a baby monitor because that's about all it's good for these days.
