I will be pre-ordering right at 3AM EST but hoping to receive mine before Thanksgiving. This year I'll be celebrating with the in-laws in NY so I hope to have the phone by then to take pictures and of course show off...

The guy at T-Mobile who I got my V30 from, we started talking about the iPhone X.

He went on to tell me that he bets people will be waiting until next year to get theirs. He said that he thinks the quantity will not meet need.

I don't doubt it, my opinion is that this device will be just as frustrating as the Airpod dilemma. We'll see!

That's pretty great! Do they also have a patent for turning them on wirelessly, inside a box, and then turn them off?

Just because there's a patent, doesn't mean they are using it for anything.
"Off" may also be standby mode. (we did that at BlackBerry to decrease the boot time - the only way to actually turn the device off was to pull the battery) :) They could easily have it in standby mode, using very, very little power, just waiting for a "wake" signal over bluetooth.

i've been on this forum for so many iphone launches and these posts appear every year. every single year the same crap. nothing new. and it's never as bad as they're trying to make us believe. you joined the club last year so i'll give you a pass for believing everything that gets posted on here about stock and supply
So you’re saying you’ve been blind for years. Yea I trust your unverified and biased opinion over legitimate reports and rumors.

legitimate reports by who? digitimes? lol! there are NO legitimate reports unless apple themselves release a report everything else is just rumors and speculation. all of it is clickbait and trying to make people panic so they buy the phone when it comes out. it has noting to do with being blind. i was scared the first time i wanted to preorder and all those reports were coming in that they were having manufacturing problems and i fell for it. well the stock was fine and apple had a lot of them. after that year i never fell for it and the same reports came year after year. it's not about bein blind, it's about not trusting every BS that gets posted on a RUMORS forum. of course some of it might be true but it's not guaranteed

Whatever false lies float your boat man. Just don’t be spreading your biased opinion as if it’s fact.

All other manufacturers are going bigger, whilst Apple is going smaller. I think Apple is neglecting me and other like me, and I think it’ll hurt sales.
Who in the world said Apple is going smaller??? iPhone X display is bigger than iPhone 8 display (in width, height, and diagonally), do the math...

Apple manufacturer Foxconn has started shipping the first iPhone X units to countries in Europe and the Middle East, according to a Chinese report on Monday.

China-based Xinhuanet said the first batch of 46,500 units have already been shipped out from Zhengzhou and Shanghai to the Netherlands and the United Arab Emirates, respectively. However, the initial shipments of iPhone X units were much lower than previous iPhone models, according to the Chinese-language Commercial Times.

Forecasts for iPhone X production have consistently pointed to lower-than-average numbers in the run-up to the smartphone's launch on Friday, November 3. Last week an analyst with Taipei-based Yuanta Investment Consulting lowered his production estimate for the iPhone X to 36 million units, down from 40 million.

The revised forecast followed earlier warnings that Apple's TrueDepth camera may be the main production bottleneck of the iPhone X ramp. KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has said the facial recognition system is "far more complex" than those on competing devices, which is making it challenging for Apple to achieve mass production.

Kuo said shipments of iPhone X components will likely ramp up in mid to late October. Meanwhile, customer pre-orders begin October 27, with the potential for them to exceed 40-50 million units, according to Kuo, further suggesting the phone could be hard to come by for some time. Lower adoption of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus also indicate that many customers may be waiting for the iPhone X.

I want a device the size of the 8 Plus with a full bezel-less screen, but at the current price of the 8 Plus. I’d be surprised if my thoughts are not common. All other manufacturers are going bigger, whilst Apple is going smaller. I think Apple is neglecting me and other like me, and I think it’ll hurt sales.

And I feel like Apple neglected me and others like me for the past several years, by putting very desirable features only in a phone that’s too damn big for me to comfortably hold, carry, and use. I’m glad to finally have all the best features in a usable (to me) size. And I’m obviously not the only one who doesn’t like the Plus form factor.

I don’t care if they also offer a bigger X in the future, as long as the size is the only difference.

Go to istocknow.com and they update what stores have it daily. Start on November 3rd and check it everyday if you see it available in your area just go to apple.com order and choose pick up at store. It's what I have been doing for years usually they it's like 2 or 3 weeks after launch that you will see steady shipments I'd rather do that than pre-order and wait a month later

The iPhone X is smaller. You get more usable displace space because it's edge to edge instead of the black borders at the top and bottom but the actual phone is smaller than the Plus.

I feel like as long as you’re on the Apple Store app at 2:55AM and speed thru the process you should get a launch day iPhone X.

That’s my plan. I’m on the iPhone Upgrade Program so hopefully the preapproval that they introduced with iPhone 8 preorders comes back.

I’ll be ordering through the AT&T Next upgrade program so I hope it’s smooth sailing through the Apple Store App. We’ll see, though. I have a feeling ship dates are going to slip almost instantly.

It is not wider. It is not larger by area.

iPhone 6Plus/6SPlus/7Plus/8Plus is the largest iPhone display.

Jeeez that's a lot of samey samey for 4! years? It's odd when typing it out.

Except its been only 3 years since the iphone 6 plus was released (sept. 2014), so in what time dimension do you get 4 years out of that?

But this will give rise to next years’ new and improved iPhone XS and give Customer what they really wanted in the first instance!

It'll definitely give customers what they wanted; a running joke! With a name like that, it'll either be the iPhone Tennis (10S) or the iPhone Excess (like XS Price, XS size, etc.). I think the iPhone X2 would be more likely. Or even the X² would be a more fitting name so that next year's iPhone 9 can "catch up" with the last physical TouchID as the X² comes with it built into the display. Maybe the metal band around the iPhone becomes the "Touch Band". With your watch on your wrist, it will always be on and unlocked to your touch. The way it was meant to be if passwords weren't required. But to everyone else, they will see the lock screen. Because why disable security for ease of access?

But really, the iPhone 9 needs to be a hybrid iPhone X since using the same design as the iPhone 8 with a spec bump may burn sales and would definitely be the worst iPhone to date sales-wise. It'd have the same design as 2014's iPhone 6. But I can guarantee the 2018 iPhone will be the 9 and a revised X. Otherwise they should've called the 8 the 7S, but that would be silly vs a name like the iPhone X (10).

I can't see it. They'll put something minor different and undermine their smaller product. I don't know why they started doing this but a lot of other manufacturers are the same now in that aren't they?

... said shallow consumers everwhere, who measure their self worth by the latest gadget theyve bought.
No measure of self worth here. Just like shiny new gadgets.
Some people collect stamps. I collect technology.

Why do you feel a technophile is shallow? Do you feel coin collectors are shallow? My little pony, t-shirts, shot glass collectors; are they shallow as well? <sarcasm>Pretty sure the my little pony collectors do indeed measure their self worth based on the latest pony release, but the rest of them? Doubtful.</sarcasm>

Sometimes we just like stuff.
