Huh, what? What garbage? I use an Android device and an iOS device. Every single app I have on both is identical.

Every one, huh? Outright lie. Find me an Android version of Auria.

Lazy, hmm.

In the meantime, I think that everything you can do on an iPhone, I'll do on my Android phone, faster. It's just a better flow. Back button. On the bottom of the screen, where it should be. Notifications, done right. App switching - two taps (you need two clicks and a tap). Translate any text selection, right from the context menu. Select something in the browser, slide up search results (super slick). iOS is like a clunky 2009 OS in comparison.

My latest Android phone does everything better than the 6S. It's about as big as the 6S but with a screen closer to the Plus (those bezels!). Loads most apps faster. Has a better battery life. A much nicer screen. Way nicer build quality. Thinner and lighter. Way better camera and app. Has 160Gb memory (32 + 128). I can hook it up to my PC and, you know, just copy stuff. Paid CHF464 for it. A 16Gb iPhone 6S is CHF879. Must be really fashionable to get one of those.

An iPhone is nearly now the Bang & Olufsen of the smartphone world. Way overpriced, fashion tech, otherwise pretty modest in capabilities.

Funny you didn't mention your phone so we could do a comparison. Nor did you mention any specific Apps you claim load faster.

You should prove your point first before ask someone disapprove your point.

Show me the prof that iOS will always be more secure than Android?

By the way, that is great that you like iOS. But you will be the minority pretty soon. Android will dominate the market like Windows dominate PC market.

Really who is more superior is pointless. People will buy whichever is best for them. For vast majority people, they will choice good and cheaper one, especially people in developing nations.

There are two universal truths to software:

1. All software will have bugs/exploits. Especially something as complex as an OS, which has to allow software to access the hardware through thousands of APIs, and is constantly getting updated to add new features.

2. Given #1 above, the best way to deal with exploits is to be able to quickly issue updates.

Even if iOS and Android had the EXACT same number and type of exploits, iOS will still be far more secure due to the ability for Apple to issue fixes to everyone on short notice.

Google is trying this with Google Play Services (GPS), but as we've seen time and again, the majority of severe Android exploits are low level and can't be fixed via GPS. Which means going through the lengthy process of getting OEMs and carriers to issue the update (if they even bother to, as devices over a year old often wait months for an update). That is, if they ever get the update.

So as I stated, Android can never be as secure. If they fix their update method then they could be considered equal, but until then they'll be behind.

As to me proving my point about Android Apps and the S7, I tried that some time ago but was accused of cherry-picking specific Apps that made my 6S Plus perform better than my S7. Which is why I want the Android lovers (of which there are sooooo many here on MR) to pick the Apps. Then I can't be accused of being biased or cheating.

You can claim Touchwiz can never as secure. But you cannot claim same thing about Android. Google is pushing out monthly security updates and my Nexus 5X and 6P receive all updates. Even old Nexus 5 gets updates.

As far as I know, Samsung is pushing monthly securities updates as well. Samsung maybe slow on update major version, but they aren't slow on monthly update.

If you really insist security, there are security focused Android based smartphone, like Black Phone or BlackBerry Priv and DTEK 50.

The beauty about Android is that you can get whatever you want. I dislike Samsung Touchwiz, fine I will flash Cyanogen Mod. If I want secure phone, I will take BlackBerry Android phone.

And I don't think most people care about 64 bit or not. It isn't something average people will think about it. Heck, even Apple Store employee do not advertising about 64 bit. As far as I know, apps that I use are equally good with Android and iOS. Some apps are more refined with iOS version, I don't deny it. But some apps are Android optimized.

I don't think iOS is any superior than Android or other way around.

No hardware / software system can ever be secure.

Well you know what happens when numbers are down, speed of forced obsolescence goes up. Should be seeing our current phones slow down dramatically this time next year.

4" iPhone 6/6s is missing from the line up. That's why sales are falling and failing.

Wrong price too. Apple is pricing iPhone out of existence. It might work temporarily for shareholders, but it's clearly not working for customers.

iPhone SE is the 4" iPhone 6. Same insides. What's missing again?

I would expect my phone to slow down somewhat. It is from late 2014. However I doubt it will be so slow that email, Text messages, web browsing, music playback and phone calls would be effected. I have come to the realization that this is what I need from my phone.

I'm not interested in mobile gaming or any of the other apps on the phone. I don't use the phone in the house and out of the house I try not to have my head buried in the phone in condition white.

I have a 6 and I still don't see a reason to upgrade. And people who have the 5 or 5S might be more interested in the 5SE.

Even the biggest Apple Fanboys don't seem to be able to make a case for the new phone. If you are, please do!
immmm....its just the SE.

iPhone SE is the 4" iPhone 6S*. Same insides. What's missing again?
its the same as the 6s*

No Amoled, big bezels, same design. Of course there will be a better camera, of course it will be faster... But it's all soooooo 2014 compared to for example Galaxy S7 edge and Note 7.

Ehhh I guess. It's still a great phone. I understand what you're saying, but Apple has ALWAYS been slow with their updates. Look at the differences for literally every iPhone that has come out...

The most dramatic phones were in 2010 and 2014. I'm sure 2017 will be no different, but this year's phone is going to be nice. If you want an Android, go for it.

Most of them do leak ahead of time these days. When was the last time you saw a Cook keynote and you were truly surprised by a phone feature that wasn't leaked? The iPhone 7 is going to be about as banal as rumored. Sorry.

Gone are the days Jobs moving a hula hoop around an iBook to show it's wireless. Now, that was a surprise.

Uhhh the iPhone 4 leaked, iPhone 3GS leaked... iPhone 4S leaked. We know the features of EVERY iPhone. We knew the iPhone 4 would have Retina Display, we knew 4S would have Siri... Features have been leaking forever. I truly do not remember a surprise besides maybe iMessage.

You are correct, it is too early but everything you mentioned is already out there in competitor phones and better. I am hoping for one, just one redeeming feature that makes sense to upgrade, but really, Samsung note is looking like a great option because Apple isn't the tech gem it was under Steve.

While I don't want to be drastic, it's not like Tim has an A-game and has been killing it with his products. If anything, all products under his leadership have been mediocre at best.

iOS and the whole ecosystem work just fine for me and a lot of other people. There are benefits to Apple and benefits to Android. I have high expectations for Apple as well, but the point is that Apple was NEVER perfect. Not even under Steve! I don't know why people keep thinking that. All products under Tim have been mediocre? You sound crazy.

How is the rMBP, retina iMac, MacBook, Apple TV, iPhone 5S/6S etc. mediocre? I'm sure you can have reasons as to why you think they're mediocre, but again... Steve released mediocre products too...

Because it's Apple. No one seems to realize Motorola released the Moto Z with no headphone jack in sight. Where were the articles telling of how Motorola is doomed because they didn't bother to put in a standard 3.5mm hole? I doubt anyone cared one way or another. A company isn't allowed to change anything unless the consumer gives an OK? Hogwash! I can't believe the stupidity of people who are always yelling for change but when it happens, they don't want it. Those who don't want Apple products should just stay silent and look elsewhere for some other company's perfect product. Moaning and griping isn't going to change anything and a couple of hundred million new iPhones will still be sold to the silent majority over the next year or so, standard jack or not. Why wait for Apple's announcement of actual features when people can gripe over rumors?

THANK YOU. It really baffles me that people have such strange opinions. Apple has always been annoying in some capacity. They're only more annoying now because they're so big and have such a huge influence. If you're mad at Apple now you should've been mad at them forever. They make great products and although not everything they do is perfect, they do a great job in a lot of areas.

How about we wait for this next phone and see what's to come in 2017 (and late 2016).

This is the way things will be....until Apple re-invents the phone...or the iPhone....or some other gadget. The consumer has caught up with everyday tech. Or is it the other way around, tech has caught up with the everyday consumer?

No surprise, really.

I wonder if the slump isn't just about a "lack of innovation" but maybe more, or at least partly, due to market saturation. So many people have iPhone's now and other smartphones that eventually sales would slow down at some point.

This whole "doom and gloom" sentiment seems silly to me at this point. The companies are still making money hand over fist here and they're not even close to going under or anything like that.

I agree. The markets overreact all the time, plus people are used to seeing constant growth. Apple is in fine shape financially and in terms of innovation. It's a silly game to play to have to pander to the masses. They know what they're doing and it's smart to be long Apple.

The iPhone 6s Plus charges as fast as a S7 Edge if using the iPad charger.

"Fast" charging only compared to their older products.

And no cosrumization same grid? Doesn't iOS 9 add 3D Touch menus? iOS 10 isn't Assing pop-up widgets? Widgets on iOS have surpassed those on Android, Android widgets can't be that active, can't show video, etc.

Android still doesn't have good looking icons, on iOS every icon respects the same shape and most respect the same proportions and colors. On Amdroid it's a mess even with Google icons:

You actually think iOS icons are better?! wow! After Jony messed with them they haven't looked that great since.

Besides, you do realize on Android you can change every icon from theme'ing in Launchers or icon packs in one easy swoop. Heck you can make Android look like iOS icons. This is such a weak argument since I can go into so many different ways Android looks better than iOS but it's a wasted argument to make since it's all just opinion.
[doublepost=1471066303][/doublepost]
Any Nexus or 5x has absolutely no significance in sales. Every Nexus is a sales flop in whatever way you measure. Only geeks use nexus just as a bragging right. Never ever in Android history that Nexus was even in top 10 of sales chart.

The top 3 selling Android phones in 2016 - S7 Edge, J2 and S7. Nexus are nowhere to be seen.

Me and my GF tried the J3 and were very impressed by it and the AMOLED screen for a non-premium phone. Android has come a long way in improvements and looks. With all the customization we now had we decided to remain on the jump and sell the iPhones. I have my eye on an S7edge or Note 7 down the road, both with amazing screens that is just too hard to look at the iPhone the same way anymore. Apple is going to have to re-evaluate that premium price sooner rather than later or just keep watching the decline. If you aren't leading, you're behind.
[doublepost=1471067959][/doublepost]
Yes yes yes! I've been saying this for months now. The iPhone is still the best value of a smartphone out there, it's just that everyone has it now! It isn't 2007 anymore when the iPhone was this uber big deal, astronomically expensive, and locked to just one carrier. Because of all those things it was highly coveted and sought after.

If Ferrari suddenly stopped making $250,000 cars and instead made $30,000 cars that many more people could afford, there is nothing to covet or envy anymore because so many would have it. Doesn't mean it would be of any less quality since it's still a Ferrari, but it just doesn't sit on that marketing pedestal that it once did.

that sounds great in theory but I don't think that's it here. Apple really has stagnated on the iPhone with tiny incremental upgrades just for the sake of having something to say at the new reveal while maximizing their profits. When you become mediocre and cheap but still at a premium cost people start looking elsewhere. When Steve was there, he brought over 150% to the table with something new and fresh while TC has just let it lag with only small improvements that only a detailist would ever notice.

Tell me I'm wrong but I stick to this until I see something, anything new and fresh from Apple that blows my socks off. I'm not holding my breath though. You can say it's only like this because it's now a fully grown product that's saturated the market but seriously they haven't added or changed much of the software for so long. It's time! Past time for something GREAT again from Apple.

Tell Samsung there's just no room anymore for something great and interesting because the market is too saturated. Folks are in denial or just too biased to what they want to see. I personally like all phones whether it's an iPhone, Windows phone (soon to be dead), or Android.

The phone hasn't even been announced yet lmao you do realizes not every single feature leaks right?

The camera, the speed, new software that's only iPhone 7 compatible, different home button, better reception because of the antenna bands, maybe some type of water proofing...

I don't know why everyone just to such drastic conclusions about a phone that hasn't released...

Because everyone is a ****ing know-it-all naysayer. Apparently, that's all the rage these days.

Good job Apple, a company that can't quite figure out how to make a base model phone with more than 2011 levels of storage (even though even mid-range Android handsets had 32gb years ago).

Apple totally deserves this. I hope it hits them right where it hurts (their wallets).

ad Apple should license iOS to other OEM's.

I would say Apple should license iOS and macOS to other OEM's.

same crazy prices for genuine Apple macOS devices (wtf is price of Mac Pro, 5k Imac without 5400 rpm hdd, 15 rMBP with dedicated graphics..) and extremely expensive accesories and second-hand market (parts for repairs macOS devices, crazy price for upgrade from 4 to 8 gb ram in the past and now from 8 to 16 gb, also for ssd`s 120-240-480-960 in the decision making when I would buy new macOS device

No, iPhone SE was an acknowledgement from Apple late in the game "oh gee, we're missing a 4-inch flagship iPhone what should we do?".
WRONG! Fact check! iPhone SE doesn't follow any design cues of iPhone 6/6s 6+/6s+. Doesn't have force touch, doesn't have retina HD display, doesn't have dual domain pixels, doesn't have second generation Touch ID, doesn't have 5mp face time camera, no 128GB option, no barometer, has a lesser wifi and lesser 4G LTE. Sorry, iPhone SE does not have the same internals or externals as iPhone 6s/6s+.

The iPhone SE does not import some of the features from the flagship 6s as you mentioned. Now, I owned the 6s and I currently own the SE. It's fast, solidly built and over all exceptional iPhone. In a month, I will be upgrading to the iPhone 7.

That being said, Apple figured out a large portion of their iPhone users were not upgrading from their 4 inch iPhones being they did not want a larger iPhone. Apple decided to release the iPhone SE to allow the customer to have the option to upgrade from the iPhone 4s/5 to the SE. And to make it affordable, they trimmed some of the 6s features to do so. Not everyone needs Apple's latest features and only is seeking something viable and reliable.

Apple never questioned themself stating "What do We do?" How do you know that? Did Apple ever say this? Doubtful. Apple made the SE available as a solid powerhouse phone, not some desperate measure. And they were smart in doing so, it was Apple's best decision all year in my opinion. The SE will be a popular sell for years to come.

For me the last big, killer feature they added was a fingerprint scanner to unlock the phone. Apple Pay is nice, but in the UK we've had contactless cards for years - if anything I find Apple Pay slower and (occasionally) prone to just not working. It works maybe 50% of the time with my Apple Watch, and 90% with my iPhone 6. Whereas my contactless card works every time.

I'm tied into the iOS ecosystem a little too much so I won't be able to switch, but I want to. Apple just don't cut it any more.

But as I understand Foxconn make loads of machines I use like the PS4, PS3, 3DS, Wii U etc.

Dear oh dear... What a way you've tried to spin it! Pinch to zoom out and look at the whole situation. If Apple is still selling SE "for years to come", which is really an iPhone 5 design from 2012, then Apple will be on a glide slope to crashing sometime in 2019-2021. Absolutely iPhone SE was a desperate measure, otherwise if this was all planned well, a 4" would have been released alongside 6/6plus in 2014. Apple were so embarrassed with iPhone SE they barely dedicated ten minutes to it at the keynote. Many users have not upgraded to SE and are waiting for a true flagship 4 inch. Everyone wants the greatest features in 4 inch factor, not recycled trash from years earlier.

iPhone SE is Apple's most recent release, BUT it still contains many older technologies. Features weren't trimmed to make it affordable, instead old tech was incorporated to get rid of surplus components in supply, we see this kind of thing in "special edition" cars where car manufacturers create special models to get rid of older components. SE is not an affordable phone, and when you factor in the old tech it contains, it's a poor value product.

Steve Jobs would not have done this that's for certain. Steve Jobs' Apple was forward thinking and progressive. The Apple of 2016 is not progressive. Apple's past progressive nature was evidenced by truely delivering great products with new technologies at fair pricing. Steve would never have done this overpriced iPhone SE rehashed product with an OLD 2012 case design, OLD internals with NO force touch, NO retina HD display, NO dual domain pixels, NO second generation Touch ID, NO 5mp face time camera, NO 128GB option, NO barometer, NO better wifi and NO better 4G LTE. These technologies were released at least two years ago and still never made their way into the desperate iPhone SE released this year.

Total fragmentation and no inspiration. iPhone SE is a rubbish old tech product. This is just so sad for Apple and the true supporters.

Tim Cook is breeding complacency and can only ride Steve Jobs' former successes so far. It's high time for him to put up or shut up. Not saying that the iPhone 7 will be a dud, but it will be interesting to see how well it is received by the public, media and by Wall Street once unveiled.
