I'm not saying give him a free iPhone... but why on earth are you criticizing someone's hobby?

I'll answer that right after you tell me when sitting on the concrete waiting to buy something became a hobby. It's a mental sickness, not a hobby.

Knowing the publicity he would get, he should have been wearing company-paid signs on his body and equipment, which would have easily paid for a free iPhone.

It's exciting. He's passionate about his tech life and even more so, Apple. He may be single and have a decent job. So decided to take a week off using his PDOs and get himself in the paper and be the first to get an iPhone in his area. Don't be so judgmental when really, you haven't the slightest idea about this guy or his situation.

giving him a phone for free, is like praising our president every time he sneezes....oh wait, we still do that.

No, but I say give him $100 off and a free bumper or something similar. If you give him a free one, then every launch day after this one you're gonna have idiots camping out a week ahead of time thinking they'll be entitled to a free one as well.

+1 If we Americans are one thing, most of us have an unfounded sense of entitlement.

They should tell him he has to go home and take a bath before he can come into the store on Friday or later.

Give him a phone for dedication?

It's a mental sickness? How? Because it's something you don't think is necessary? I'm sure your opinion means nothing to Justin, or anybody else in this forum, and rightfully so. Get over yourself.

He doesn't deserve one. If he had a SOB story he might receive one, but he doesn't have one. Maybe if he was a starving Somalian civil war refugee child who emigrated to America illegally so he can wait in line weeks before the iPhone 4's release at an Miami Apple Store. If he was that, then I would say he deserved one. Since he's not too bad, so sad.... :p
Waiting in line very early shouldn't entitle you to a free iPhone. If so, many more people would do it.

I like this story of Justin's adventure, and I really think its cool that he is so dedicated and excited for the new device.

However, I don't think he should get a new phone because of it. He knows at the end of the adventure that he expects to pay for it -- he stood in line to be the first to PURCHASE a device from the company he loves, not to get one for free.

Though I think getting a t-shirt/bumper or a small token of appreciation isn't such a bad thing.

Hypothetically, he should be arrested for being illegal. Yes, i live in AZ.:)

The people comparing our spending minutes a day posting on this board from our offices/bedrooms/etc to some doofus collecting dust loitering outside of a store need slaps to their heads.

And to the genius who made the rambling post about how if this kid is an ass for loitering for a week to buy a cell phone then hunters are morons because they can just go to a grocery store . . . Hunting, even with a rifle, requires skillsets that would have very useful applications in many situations aside from getting a bite to eat on a Saturday morning.

Again, this kid is sitting on his ass on the sidewalk for a week. Glorifying or even being liberal with your understanding of his "individuality" is absolutely ludicrous.
