No, but alot of things you do in your life are things you like doing, where you have fun. If you go to a movie it's because you like to. He wants to be first in line. No problem with that. Some people like to "waste" a week camping in the woods for fun. You got a problem with that too?

By camping in the woods do you mean communing with nature? The freedom to go where you want, when you want? The opposite of sitting down on a hard piece of concrete for a week long endeavor to obtain some gadget that will be rendered obsolete in mere weeks or months? Yeah, I see your point, camping in the woods or in a mountain is exactly the same as pitching a tent outside of a storefront.

Um actually i justify that because you are with mother nature not just waiting for a phone. You have so much time in your hands go to volunteer place and help the homeless and needy

So you have a problem not because of the time he's spending but because it's for a phone. Well you certainly shouldn't judge his hobby. It helps others the same amount that camping does.

Hey think of it like this. If this was in the UK he would either have one of the following happen.

1. Moved on by the police for being a nuisance.
2. Been told not to be silly and go home by his mum.
3. Have eggs thrown at him like David Blane.

Also the Apple store here would not have given him any electricity power.

Sorry if this offends anyone from the UK imagine if it was the London Store for options above.

Rabid consumerism isn't a hobby. It's a mental disorder. And you're an apologist.

What Apple should do is build Thursdays line off of him, with him at the back. That'll send a message to dullards the world over to not do something this stupid. :p

Exactly people now see camping outside a store the same as in the woods which is not. I agree with you. That guy needs to get out of the four walls he lives in with all his apple gadgets and go to a real camping trip

For both I mean most people around the world line up for hours for a meal but he lines up for a phone a week before it comes out. Is total bs get a life I respect what' he does but I don't agree at all

I like the eggs part lol

no offense taken here :p, thats pretty much exactly what would have happened +

4. some group of people would have started on him destroying his stuff and making off with it, and its very likely that would happen :(

I seem to recall an Apple/MacIntosh commercial back in the 80's that parodied the Russians with everyone wearing the same clothes (making fun of the huge Microsoft/PC stronghold on the computing market). It would seem that Apple people would be more for individualism and people enjoying life and having fun however those people define it, not by our values of what is "fun".

Let Justin have fun. He enjoys this. Camping is whatever one defines it to be, whether in mother nature or outside an Apple store.

Alright, I guess if you guys feel that way it's fine. I just didn't realize it was a big *ucking deal when someone camps out for a week to get yes, a gadget. God forbid anyone strays from the path of your amazingly well-rounded lifestyles.

Not saying he's deserving of anything, I just think it would be a nice gesture by Apple to give him a little discount, but definitely not the phone for free.

Why does he deserve even a discount that the rest of us don't get? I'm not being facetious. What logical reason is there to give him a discount and not other "loyal" Apple customers that can't be sitting on a sidewalk for a week for no reason.

What's funny is that there are people in this thread saying things about justin and how he needs to get a life. Yet some of these same people are on this BOARD crying over the lack of a white iphone, upset because there is no flash on the iPhone, Etc.

So you guys are hypocrites because just as he is camping out, You guys are "Camping out"too everytime you make a 50 page thread devote to lack of this or that on the iPhone.

Before you look at someone else..look at yourself and then once your perfect and can walk on water then you can say something about someone else.

i love how people automatically judge him based of invalid assumptions about him....

k lets put it this way, do we talk bad about people who go out in the wilderness for days to go hunting? I dont hear people say no they are idiots theres a food store right around the corner why do that?

just because someone does something that may seem stupid to you, may be an adventure for him.. what if he cant afford a vacation to go somewhere, whats wrong with the adventure of camping out in front of a store meeting tons of people. i bet its a lot better than staying in the basement all day bashing people on the internet cause you dont have a life either..

just my opinion

Did you not read what I wrote? I'm NOT saying he's deserving. So you think it's wrong for Apple to give him a little discount for camping out a full week before release BECAUSE we don't get a discount for sitting at home waiting for our delivery? Give me a break.

I think Justin is entitled to do what he wants and believe that he's doing this for fun. I support him in his endeavor.

However, I do not think he earns a free or discounted phone from this as the camping was *his* choice just as it was my choice to stay home and wait for Fedex.

Free choice does not mean free phone. :D

No, I read what you wrote just fine. Maybe you did not understand what you wrote. When you give Person A a discount that isn't available to an entire class of people then they had to "deserve" it, or they wouldn't be singled out for the "reward." What I was, and am still, asking is what did this guy do besides sit on his ass for a week to deserve a discount the rest of us are not entitled to? Please, just give me a well formed, logical answer.

Personally, I cringe at the thought of people being rewarded for unremarkable and stupid feats. I think doing so is depraved. If Apple wants to give iPhones away, or discounts there are plenty of real heroes they can find and probably would be appreciative. That is my position, what is yours?

Also, I'm not twittling my thumbs on a sidewalk, no. And I won't be doing so either on Thurs. Through the magic of computers I can do my work at home just fine.

Free? That's absurd.

Now people camp out for any big item or event. Black Friday. Do people get a free TV for being first?

How about those people who camped out for the new Star Wars prequel awhile back? I know it was a week or more. I doubt they even got a free movie ticket or popcorn.

Apple doesn't need the extra publicity. The phone is doing it for them.

So no need to thank him anymore than the press he's been getting now.
