For the iPad 3G launch, the Apple Store at Willow Bend in Plano, Texas gave out bottled water. I understand they also gave out coffee for the iPad WiFi launch.

- Steve

Cool I'm either going there or Stonebriar in Frisco to buy my iPhone 4.

Last year my wife made some coffee while I worked from my home office on launch day. I also asked my kids to clap for me as I walked to our front door to sign for the package. I'm hoping for the same this year.

LOL

haha

I doubt it. If your in line that means you have money to pay, Why would they give it away??

Coffee and/or water is not really a good thing for people who have to stand in line for HOURS...logistically speaking, of course....:D

I usually buy juices or some sort of breakfast item for the people that I meet early in line. Since I plan on going there at 11PM, I might be talking to a couple people before everyone else shows up.

Apple store I went to gave water, and some food out to people waiting in line.

The best camping experience I have ever had was on black friday of 2002, Fry's electronics hired a local bbq joint to come down, and it was free hot dogs, burgers for everyone waiting in the snow for black friday to begin. Was truely epic.

AT&T gave us nothing. Chick Fil A and a couple other places close enough to see the line in the 90+ degree heat DID kindly bring us stuff however.

For the 3G launch the manager came out at 12-1 Am, took one look at us, giggled (it was a girl, though I guess guys can giggle but I would have left), walked back in the store, and came out with juice , water, and t shirts that had the store name on the front and something else on the back, made by American apparel. Probably one of the most comfortable shirts I own.

I wanted a free shirt. Last year, we got smartWater and the iReady pamphlet things.

Now I'm curious... what Apple branded merchandise has been given away by Apple, and when? (excluding grand openings for stores). Just at launches? And what?

the apple store nearest me (fashion fair) usually has starbucks coffee, smart water, but for the 3g launch and once we got inside the store, the employees bought us pizza and had it delivered to the store.

but i didnt want to wait in line this year, so ill be having my own starbucks and food :)

Chick fil A brought us sweet tea, coffee, and tiny little chicken sandwiches.

For the 3G launch, my local AT&T gave us bottled water. That's it. But then the blendtec guy showed up with his film crew and gave us all a "Will it Blend?" DVD with the first 50 videos. I still have it but it's still in the shrink-wrap.

xBox @ Tescos - We got some food and coffee while we waited, which was very nice of them :)

Nintendo Wii @ Toys R' Us - We got nothing

PS3 @ Gamestation - We got nothing... people who queued up outside Sony in London got a free TV and some PS3 games.....

Never done an Apple launch as my nearest store is more than 3 hours away so unless it is something on scale with what Sony did in London for the PS3 it wouldn't really be worth the drive.

I've never been to a launch, but I think I heard somewhere they sometimes give out free food and such to customers in line? Is that true? Do they give out anything else? I was planning on getting mine in the morning around 9 (well, GETTING there at 9 to wait in line) or even earlier to be a part of the morning rush... but I'm considering sleeping in and just picking it up a couple hours later instead. Would I be missing out on anything exciting? Or just be in a huge line of tired cranky people?

The only thing I got at the 3G launch was water which was fine I wasn't really expecting anything. For the iPad it was the same thing but some of the smarter food vendors came up to the lines and were taking orders for coffee, pastries, etc. That wasn't free but at least you didn't have to leave the line to get food if you were hungry.

I was told that the Albany,NY Apple Store will be giving out free coffee. It will be Starbucks as Starbucks forces out all other coffee shops when they set up shop in a mall.

A fellow MacRumors poster said he was bringing donuts.

My only problem-I am 42. My bladder is not as good as it used to be, so I will be stingy on the coffee!:(

I like the story that I think was in Readers Digest that on 3Gs launch day last year the FEDEX delivery man told a woman's husband as he handed him his iPhone that he couldn't play with his new toy until he had all of his chores done.

At the Albany NY apple store for the 3G launch they were giving out smartwater and starbucks coffee. I think they gave out T-shirts at the launch of Snow Leopard. I am planning on going to the mall at 6 or so but I am tempted to show up at 1am with a cooler of beer.
