My partners ipad has done this every night, except last night where he done something different.
Normally he puts it on charge over night (device turned on) and in the morning he will unplug the device before waking up the display by opening up the Smart Cover and then when the Smart Cover is opened the iPad is found to be dead.
This morning my partner did the same but didn't unplug the charger and opened up the Smart Cover where it then came to life as normal and was at 100%,he then shut the Smart Cover again without doing anything to the device/unlocking it and unplugged the charger,1 minute later he opened up the cover again and the device was dead and required a reboot.
So could it be that device shuts down if the device is charged and then unplugged before the screen is woken up and it's not doing it for some people as they unplug the device while the screen is active.
Could be worth a few people trying to use the device before they unplug it from the power.
