If you could see the full electromagnetic spectrum right now, you'd be amazed at all the EMF affecting your body/brain/ears right now.

Yet we're all alive and have been for millions of years.

All those quadrillion upon sextilions of neutrinos, dark matter particles, and emf waves you can't see are going THROUGH you right now.

It is voodoo and complete ********.

In May 2011 the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) evaluated cancer risks from radiofrequency (RF) radiation. Human epidemiological studies gave evidence of increased risk for glioma and acoustic neuroma. RF radiation was classified as Group 2B, a possible human carcinogen.

What do you know that they don’t?

I know that having a slightly increased risk (disputed) of developing any disease is magnitudes of less importance compared to HAVING A PLANET TO LIVE AND BREATH ON IN THE NEAR FUTURE.

Respectfully, that wasn’t the question I asked. I’d also be grateful (if you’re disputing it) if you could direct me to the credible article(s) to which you refer.

I agree with the environmental effects of including EarPods since everyone must have that or AirPods. However, they really should have included a power brick. I ordered one to use with MagSafe after ordering the MagSafe charger, meaning extra shipping and packaging. I'm sure most iPhone 12 users will purchase a USB-C 20W power adapter which defeats the purpose of saving the environment.

They must be knowing the amount of people having existing chargers or buying more custom ones (Anker, Choetech). i bought my ipad in 2013, i was using its charger untill last year with my iphone, then i bought Apple 30 watt USBC adapter to charge my ipad & iphone both. i never touched the adapter inside the iphone box, i still have the iphone 4S or 3GS charger, that thin flat diamond edge one, i think with the original wrapper on it.

Also, i dont beleive, those extra chargers land up in fields, i still have ear buds of iphone 4S on my desk along side Airpods Pro. Multiple charger help, i have one on my desk, one attached next to my bed, one in my office etc.

Interesting that one country says cell phone radiation is toxic but another says its not. So now it's all about belief.

From a legal standpoint it's rather actually how you apply the precautionary principle to the available research on the subject.
In Eu law it's an increasingly broad, powerful and encompassing principle and it's now also starting to permeate French law as well, for better or worse (IMO in that case very much worse, but hey, nothing's perfect and the law most certainly not).

I’m late to the outrage party but Apple has a comment on this in iOS :

Settings > General > Legal & Regulatory > RF Exposure

So it would be better to have bigger, more wasteful boxes everywhere, with empty space for no EarPods? Or tool up a whole assembly line just for France’s iPhone boxes?
Two boxes, one large and one small, vs one large box, what uses more material?

Simple math, don't bother telling me the answer.

Apple: PLEASE develop an Apple version of the FairPhone to give those who really want to protect the environment the OPTION (keep the super-slim current versions for those who do not) of buying a TRULY evironmentally-optimized phone. Yes it will affect your top-line, and underscore the incredible impact on the environment of the "disposable device" culture you have nurtured. But the long-term health of the world and your shareholders depends on this. Of course Tim et. al. will be long gone with their billions/hundreds of millions before this spillover cost gets paid, but perhaps they are rich enough now to put real environmental policy ahead of next quater's EPS. E.g. (do Tim & Lisa J. read articles like this???):

In your eagerness to be snotty to a stranger (what fun!) you didn’t bother to answer my question. How would you address shrinking iPhone packaging – a good thing – while bundling EarPods just for the French –a required thing? And, straining greatly and probably breaking into a sweat, see if you can muster the energy to post the non-snotty version of your answer.

And since apparently you’re a math whiz, tell us which probably uses less packaging: using more packaging only for the French while shrinking it everywhere else in the world, or making one bigger box for everyone.

I wonder why they didn’t just do vouchers. Does France force them to force them on everyone? The only reason I mention vouchers is because not everyone would redeem them, so it seems like it would be less waste than these outer packages. Obviously, I could be very wrong about that.

Reworking the iPhone box for a single country is a massive waste of time and money. Consumer packaging is not cheap and France is an outlier, hence the extra box, which is infinitely more cost effective. Don’t like it, move to France and get them to change the law. Let me know which asylum I should send a Christmas card to after you hit the reality of French politics, or rather, it hits you. Viva la difference!!! LOL!

I wish countries would pass a law requiring fingerprint authentication because of the pandemic mask requirement. Would love to have that Touch ID lock button from the iPad Air on the iPhone as well!

This is a very common myth, to be honest. The chips in your devices are smart enough to cut off power and / or drip feed the remaining percentage to keep your battery at a healthy level. That's why the final 15% usually takes just as long as the initial 70% that went before it.

Which is defeated if you keep the device plugged in all the time.

France has a population of 66M and Apple sells millions of iPhones to the French. If you think a 2T company cannot take the 2 days of work to 1. design a box and 2. give those specs to their cardboard box supplier in order to reduce their produced waste, you are completely out of touch with reality.
