Friday's Pre-order

I ordered my iPhone 4 within minutes of ATT's site going live with the preorders (I believe it was around 1am Pacific). I ordered another iPhone 4 through ATT for my girlfriend early the next morning. I believe the preorders were sold out by the afternoon though.

Got both of the phones the day before the official release. I plan to stay up late Thursday to preorder the 4S

But sales were halted at least once during the day, due the the AT&T verification system crash.
 
This will be the first time preordering an iPhone for me. Do we anticipate that Apple and/or carriers will be specific on the time/timezone the online preordering will start? I'm only finding websites show the 7th, but not any time and just want to make sure I get in early. TIA
 
Another question....

I sold my 3GS yesterday and am going phoneless until I receive the 4S. Will there be aby issues with this since I currently dont have an active phone?

Is your account still active? Do you want to port your existing number to the 4S? I think the account has to still be active
 
What date would it be delivered? Would it arrive ON the 14th or shipped on the 14th?

You just took your SIM out, you didn't change anything with your account. Your account is definitely still active.

Having no SIM is the same as turning the phone off, or not having reception.
 
Using AMEX gift card for online pre-order?

I'm hoping to purchase the phone either via the Apple online store or the Verizon website, and will be using an American Express gift card ($200) to purchase the phone. Is this going to cause problems for me?

What about tax? The card might get rejected if it doesn't have enough for the $199 + tax.

Normally it would just tender the 200 to the card and require you to finish the transaction with another form of payment...?

Actually, I found an answer to my question online:

Any gift card issued by a credit card company can be used as a method of payment on the Apple Online Store. During checkout, if you are paying with a gift card issued by a credit card company, you can combine it with one credit card.

That being said, these are unusual circumstances. Any advice?
 
For those of you in the UK who are hoping to pre order online, it starts at 07:01 AM!

I pre ordered an iPhone 4 last year successfully and picked it up at the store. I'm going to try pre order again online on the 7th and have the phone shipped to me instead this time. Hopefully it wont be as chaotic as last year! If I can't get one then, as a last resort, I'll be camping outside my local Apple store on the 14th.

I really hope I get the iPhone on the 14th. I'm using a Nokia 3310 at the moment haha.

oh yea I remember that. it sucked I was in the airport pre-ordering

I second that.. ATT veri is the only problem spot. I hope they made it better. It's gunna be HP all over again haha
 
What should I do if I'm leaving my parents' family plan on T-Mobile and going to ATT? Also want to keep same number. Thanks
 
Best Buy iPhone 4 experience

FWIW--Last year I pre-ordered at my local Best Buy by paying $50 up front (gift card applied to phone). Picked it up on Launch morning with no issues. I went that route for their insurance, which I did use once to replace my phone.

I found out about their program through a forum, and I was in and out (no line) when it kicked off at my local store. Disclaimer: NOT a BB fanboy in the least.
