I heard in the past that there was a problem if you tried to mail the phone to a different address than your billing address. I'm at college right now, so has anybody been able to get around this?

I'm wondering about this too. Don't know if I'll be home when it's delivered so I'd like to have it shipped to my mom's house where someone would be home to sign for it. I hope they allow store pick-up for pre-orders so I can just go when it's convenient.

Is all of the online ordering based on PST? Or can I order from Verizon at 12:01 EST?

Thanks.

Yeah you can buy AppleCare+ from the Verizon website. Verizon also has their own insurance which I'm not completely sure if you need but it's not that much.

I hope so. I spoke with a Verizon rep online and they told me that they do not sell it and I would have to buy it from Apple.

The Apple rep says that it has to be purchased with the phone, so if I buy the phone from Verizon I cannot then buy the Apple Care + from Apple.

Apple also told me that I cannot buy 2 iPhones from Apple on a Verizon family plan. This seems very odd. Has anyone done this?

Thanks!

Im switching from ATT to VZW. Im assuming this will be possible during the pre-orde? Anyone who has done this in the past, how did it go?

This will be my first iPhone and my first pre-order online (I am currently a Tmobile customer).

I want to start new service with AT&T and I do not want to port my number. When I preorder, will i need to pick my plan, data, etc during the pre-order process? Or is that something that is done during activation?

Thanks!

I just talked with my AT&T Premier account rep, and she will be ordering the phone for me (and for all of her other customers) at 12:01am PST. If you have a Small Business/Premier account, this is the way to go.

I'm not going to stay up until 3AM EST, but I'll wake up earlier before class to pre-order. I'm pretty excited for the upgrade after letting it settle in for a few days!

And I'm definitely buying through Apple and having it shipped. It's SO much easier and less stressful than the other options.

Anyone know if I'm doing a 4s pre-order from Apple site if there will be an option to pay by Apple gift card?

I'd hate to go into the store and buy a card that doesn't work online for the phone.

Just got an email from AT&T stating that I would be able to keep my unlimited if I upgraded.

Wheh....I emailed them asking

Then again, I understand one rep can say anything.....so I dont take it to heart

Those who are curious could always do a mock order on Apple.com for an iphone4 8GB and get some insight to these questions; that may not have been available earlier but it is now.

As I was playing around I saw that (a) if you add AppleCare+ to your cart but then remove the phone, it deletes AppleCare+ from the cart and (b) it listed my Unlimited plan and didn't ask me to change it to one of the limited plans.

Just be careful not to actually *order* the iphone4 8GB or you might have a devil of a time in a few hours... :D

Wonder if they will waive the upgrade fee if you order directly from Premier? I seem to remember that happening last time. Although, I swore up and down from past experiences with AT&T iPhone launches, I would only order from Apple directly in the future.

Just curious... why do you think they would have removed your unlimited if you are not changing plans at all? Is there a rumor that this is happening?

I just called 1-800-MY-APPLE.. She said that you have to order with the billing address listed with your service provider (e.g., AT&T), but if you call after you place the order, they can change the shipping address.

Maybe someone else can call to confirm? If I can't get it shipped to my current city (don't really want to have to go to my parents' house 1.5 hours away to get it!) then I would rather just wait in line at the Apple Store.

I believe that AT&T will soon boot off all unlimited users if they want to upgrade to new AT&T phones.

I guess they will try it when the next iPhone (next one after 4s) fully uses the next generation AT&T network.

But at some point, they will want people off the unlimited plan, imo

Hey guys,

One thing I noticed about the Apple site, when I went to preorder the 8GB iPhone 4 on Verizon for my partner (he doesn't care about the latest and greatest), their website did not have an option to keep the unlimited data plan. It gave the option to switch to a capped plan, anyone know of a way around this? I plan on ordering my 4S tonight, and I would much rather order through Apple, but not at the expense of my unlimited data.

I checked my line on both Verizon and Apple's website and they both knew I already had unlimited data. On Verizon's website when it asks you to pick data it should just have unlimited as an option and on Apple's website once you put in your phone number it will say you have unlimited on the right side.

I'm still debating preordering from Verizon or Apple. For the iPhone 4 on VZW launch, Apple shipped a day later than Verizon.

Hmmm, I just went and pretended I was upgrading to the 8GB on my line, and it said "no data plan selected" and the only options I had were for the tiered plans (on Apple.com as well as the Apple Store app).

This is the option I get:
Unlimited Email & Web for Smartphones (personal email) - Existing Feature

It seems I can do that on the Verizon site, so I guess I will be ordering mine through Verizon. I pre ordered my iPhone 4 through the Verizon site, and had it a day before their estimated time. Hopefully it goes smoothly this time as well.

I'm debating whether I should pre-order from AT&T or Apple (I'm an AT&T customer since Jan 2010) because I want to order from who I have the best chance of getting it delivered early with.

Can some of you recall the 4 launch last year whether it was Apple orders or AT&T orders that ended up delivering a day or so early? Thanks! :D

I pre-ordered from AT&T and I received my phone the day before launch.
