I don't think any of the above posters understand the OP's problem fully, possibly due to the lack of explanation on his side. He isn't saying that the entire camera module has moved, but simply the sensor + lens has shifted slightly within the enclosure. You can see this because in the Hi-res image he uploaded a few posts ago there is clearly a crescent-shaped gap between the side of the cut-out and his lens. The alignment isn't perfect as it is on most phones, probably due to a manufacturing defect or impact.

Hope that clears things up for you guys.

But he's also not shooting the picture from dead center either, so of course its going to look off center if your not taking the pic from exactly straight above it. Its all about perspective.

The second picture looks pretty centered to me. If anything, the OP might be taking the picture from too far to the left, which would, by your reasoning, cause this "crescent" to appear on the other side than it actually appears on.

Well, also the lighting source looks like it is coming from the left, highlighting the inside edge of the right side, making look off center, too.

you better photo is worse than the first one, I do not see any issues, esspecially since you said it takes good photos

Y'all are incorrect. I've seen this happen first hand. The crescent shape line progressively gets worse as time goes on. It starts with the line being barely noticeable, but as the weeks pass, the crescent gets larger and larger until the 1/4 lens is covered. It has nothing to do with lighting or the angle at which the photo was taken. Something is shifting under the glass.

My 6 is exactly the same. The screen can also be visibly popped by applying pressure on the bottom corner. Sent it off to AppleCare and they apparently couldn't find the issue, even though it can be easily reproduced. Going to have to wait till I can make a trip to the store to get it fixed

Hi all,

I had the exact same issue on my black 6.

I'm on my third phone after issues with my launch day phone and it's replacement. Other than the crescent shape on the FaceTime camera, this one is perfect.

I didn't want to risk returning for another replacement which could have a different issue again... So I got brave an opened up the iphone.

In hindsight, I should have taken pics along the way, but using ifixit's guide, it was easy.

The issue is caused not by the camera itself moving. There is a thin, soft, adhesive ring around the lens which cushions it against the front glass.

It is this ring that had moved off-centre to the lens, making itself visible. The weird part is that the ring is made of very dark grey foam, but turns light grey under pressure.

A quick and careful push back into place and all is good again with my iPhone.

Hope this helps those who are brave enough to give it a go... For everyone else... Get your replacement from Apple. For £600+ the thing should be perfect!

Actually if you look above the phone you'll clearly see that the light source is in fact coming from the right. The most luminous part of the screen is the top right and gradually turns darker going towards the left.

I had the exact same problem on my iPhone 6 space grey 128. I took it to apple and they replaced the phone. The genius said he had not seen that problem yet. I was trying to remember if it came out of the box that way and I think it did.

I was looking at my iPhone 6 today and I realised that the front facing camera had moved to the left. I never saw or heard something like that. It's so strange because I never dropped my phone so far.

Even if the camera has moved, it did not affect the pictures I take. In other words, Ito can still take good front facing photos.

Should I take the phone to the Apple Store?? Would they exchange it for another one? Is it worth it?

I think you are being tricked by the effect of your lighting. I doubt your camera is moving.

The same thing happened to my iPhone 6 128gb and it was replaced at the Apple Store last Saturday.

I know, crappy photo quality. But you can see nevertheless. I took a photo, and then rotated the phone 180degrees so you know the lighting angle had nothing to do with it.

Looks like I have this but it's way too much of an anal-retentive issue to consider replacing it, especially given that the camera/photos aren't affected at all. I always thought it was just the lighting all this time.

Funny things happens and it is true as we gets complain like camera moves for iPhone 6. I think if the user have such issue they need to take it the nearby Apple Store, they will fix it hopefully.

Like it's been said. It's nit the camera but the foam grommet. I have this on my iPad 3's front camera.

Went to the Apple Store today, they told me that I should get a replacement (just need to take a Genius Bar appointment)

I know the pictures are really bad, it's just that he camera won't focus when I'm this close to the phone.... I have attempted taking another picture which has think is better...it's probably just as bad but I can't do better than this..

Did it actually move or was it always there out of the box and people didn't notice, especially given that the camera/picture taking isn't affected? I'd think the camera is locked in place.

I think the camera is mounted to the circuit board, isn't it? Not much chance of the board moving as there is not a lot of spare room in the case. No matter, Apple will replace if it is a problem. Just remember that your replacement can have "issues", too!

Someone mentioned that it's the foam grommet that has moved, not the camera. This makes a lot more sense.
