it seems the Space Grey is the most susceptible to this issue which is really odd to me. My phone was built in October.

Mine has it, but it hasn't affected the front facing camera.

I had this exact same problem. They just gave me a new one with no questions asked.

Noticed this on my 6+, does this get any worse and block the camera?

I've got both insurance and AppleCare plus, but I don't want to go through the hassle of a replacement unless absolutely necessary.

My 6+ too. I really don't want to go down the route of swapping and then getting loose buttons, dead pixels and possible other hardware faults. If the camera never actually stops working correctly then I suppose living with the half moon is significantly less hassle, especially when the replacement will eventually exhibit the same fault anyway. My 6+ is only four months old and has the problem, so who wants to go swapping every four months until their warranty runs out?

Exactly. If the foam isn't blocking the lens, silly to replace for cosmetic reasons if you're happy with your current screen.

Unless it moves further off over time and at some point starts interfering with photos but might come at a time when you aren't able to get to an Apple store as easily or send it in or something like that.

Started happening to mine as well. Very, very subtle as of now. Hardly see it. Don't care as of now, but if it gets worse I'll go to the Apple Store before my warranty expires. :)

Im booked in for my fourth or fifth Apple Store appointment now. They 'fixed' it the first few times and have given me a refurb phone. Still happening though...

Well, lets hope they at least fix it in the next generation of the iPhone. Mine is very slightly getting worse, but I don't worry to much about it anymore. A friend of mine is experiencing a lot worse case of this problem, and is soon looking to get a new one/refurb.

This has definitely happened to mine as well but the phone is otherwise fine. No point in trading it in over something minor like this.

What really causes it though? Does the screen actually move over time?

I think it is a small circle-thing that is supposed to stay around the front camera - but it is very poorly assembled.
It's not the screen moving.

I had this issue, apparently it is what the camera sits on that moves, some sort of soft pad, mine had almost moved half moon across but still didnt affect the camera. Booked in a genius appointment and they said usually it would be repaired in store with a new screen, but the day i went in (2nd time I have been in, in 6 months, first time for smashed screen) they swapped the handset out due to the screen calibration computer being down.

I think its hit and miss whether they repair or swap out depending on stock, how busy the store is, or if the calibration computer is up (this is a worldwide server used by all apple stores i was told)

Apple store - Cambridge UK

Got mine replaced 2 weeks ago.... and now it's back lol
agh oh well.

I was hoping it wouldn't now that I have an apple watch, the phone shouldn't vibrate as much..but i goes when it wakes me up in the morning it still does and enough to shift the foam over the camera.

That's the only logical explanation i can think of for this happening

I went through 6 space gray 6's over this issue. I decided to get a silver 6 plus brand new from apple, the sim free model. That one has it now too. No sense in getting it replaced over and over. This is just a defect from apple, and will not get fixed in this gen of the iphone. Sad too. Everything else is perfect on my 6+.

I feel like mine was perfect until recently I bought a car mount and when I use it the phone makes jitters all the time (from the car moving)

I have a very little of it showing so I will just deal with it for now.

I finally made an appointment with the genius bar yesterday at the Towson, MD Apple store for this issue, the front facing camera has been misaligned for a while now but I figure I take care of it before my warranty runs out.

They ended up replacing the screen..... twice. The first time after the screen was replaced, I noticed the home button was 'sticky' to the point where it feels loose in the mall parking garage, I immediately went back to the apple store about the issue. Apparently the home button gets replaced in the process of swapping out the screen, so they took the phone again and I had to wait another 2 1/2 hours to put another screen on it. The whole ordeal took 5 hours, not happy it took so long but glad my issue is resolved. I really hope the foam protecting the front facing camera doesn't move again.

I do about 30-50 screen replacements a month. I see this a lot. Such an easy fix. Just mis aligned. Open up display and slide it back in to place and re seal. Mainly see it on hard drops or falls. Sometimes screen doesn't break but camera becomes misaligned from movement or impact.

NOPE this couldnt be more wrong. I have had 8 iphone 6's and 2 6+'s and all have ended up with this issue. And not one, NOT ONE was ever dropped ever. ALways been in lifeproof cases and never mishandled. Maybe this could happen, but I guaranty its not the reason most happens. My local private iphone repair guy said he thinks the foam glue gets hot from the screen being warm, and the camera assembly gets pulled from the camera cable tension. That seems plausible, but the drop thing is bogus. My wifes two phones did the same thing and hers were also never dropped.

{SNIP} I do not work for Apple.. With that said there is not much that holds the camera assembly secure in the 5 or 6 so it wouldn't take much to shift around inside. Maybe you should take a look sometime so you actually know something rather then just guessing on what "you think".
