Does this ever actually end up affecting the front facing camera?

On my SG iPhone 6 Plus it's starting to happen, but it's only a very small sliver at the moment. However on my father's silver iPhone 6, it's about half way across. Still doesn't affect photos though.

If it doesn't get any worse I don't really feel like going through the hassle of getting it replaced.

Same problem for me. I've had it for a while but didn't know it was so widespread, will take it to the Apple store and see if they'll replace the screen

So I'm about halfway through my warranty period with my current (5th) iphone 6.

My first one had a big nasty grey blob in the center right of the screen so I sent it back.

The next one had a super dark upper right hand corner and the FT camera moon. Sent it back.

Third one had a perfect camera aligned up and you could see the cool like laser blue reflection thing it does but the screen was super yellow from left to right and had dark blotches in the screen again! It was so distracting had to send it back.

Fourth one came and boom FaceTime camera problem again and screen uniformity problems. Each time I sent the phone in was through mail and I had a senior advisor who was emailing through the process. They ended up sending my pics and phones to engineers higher up on the chain and confirmed my problems. Eventually she sent me a brand new sealed space gray 64 GB i6 like I've had. I was so excited thinking my problems would be solved!

It wasn't. The camera problem was right out of the box. BUT this one had screen uniformity better than all the others (still a faint gray smudge in center right but not terribly noticeable) so I decided to keep it for the time being. I of course immediately send pictures of the camera problem to the senior advisor and she was as shocked as I was. She said I should maybe keep this one since I finally got one with acceptable screen uniformity but I could keep going through the replacement process if I wanted too. I stopped.

Now I'm wondering if it's still a problem directly out of the box or if people are still getting replacements with this issue? Anybody? I am thinking about sending mine in in a few months but I don't want to risk getting back something worse! The hardware quality and assembly this time around have sucked for me! Never had to do this with our 4's 5's or our iPad 4! The 6 has been a nightmare for me! My wife's silver i6 has it too! Thanks for your time!

*long post*

Wow man. You most definitely have had a terrible experience with the 6.

Mine is just barely moved still, but I kinda want to exchange it before the warrant is out.

However, I recently got a few scuffs on one edge because I dropped it. Will this affect Apple's willingness to help me replace it? I hope not, but I also wonder if my camera hasn't moved enough either.

According to other forums I've read covering this subject (camera crescent), Apple will replace the screen.

I didn't get a picture of it but my iP6 front camera moved slightly. I've since got a new/refub from apple being the vibrate switch stopped working. the camera on my new one is fine.

I see. I don't know if that the practice here in Norway, we don't have any Apple Stores. Usually they just send the phones to the Netherlands, and then you get a replacement in return. Oh well, I'm not even sure I want to do anything with the "moon" close to the camera yet.

Stopped into the Apple Store tonight and made a Genius appointment. Unfortunately I was unable to get my phone repaired tonight as it takes approximately an hour and I got there before close.

The process was explained to me as follows:

They have to replace the entire screen, then they run it through some diagnostics to verify everything is ok with the phone. Apparently if the water sensors indicate water damage I will have to pay $299 for a replacement. Hopefully the water sensors are still good as I rarely use the front facing camera and would hate to pay $299 for something that has nothing to do with why I brought my phone in.

It can mess up. My first iPhone 6 did it and I took it in and they replaced the whole front. It has since done it again. Need to make an appointment again.

To provide an update, the Apple Store replaced the screen and my front facing camera is now aligned as normal. Took about 1.5 hours overall. Hopefully this doesn't happen again.

Yeah my experience has sucked so far with the 6 hardwarewise! If the camera has moved at all they will fix it. Sounds like they are replacing the whole screen part nowadays instead of replacing the entire phone. I will surely send mine a week or two before my warranty is out. I have a scratch in my screen too so it will be nice to get rid of that! But who knows what kind of screen uniformity I will get back!! Hopefully there are some quality displays left out there.

Has anyone has this issue and a cracked screen? I'm more than happy to pay for a replacement screen since I dropped it and broke it. However, I had the crescent moon with the FaceTime camera before I dropped it. Anyone had success getting a new screen bc of the camera even though your glass was broken?

Again, not trying to beat the system; just curious.

I noticed mine all of the sudden shifted to the left as well.

I'd like to get it fixed but I am jailbroken and I assume the diagnostics test can/will detect the jailbreak. i'd rather keep my jailbreak then fix the front camera which I hardly use. Even though its shifted it doesn't appear to have affected its function rather just an annoying cosmetic issue.

The big thing for me too that I keep forgetting to mention is the resale value!! I think it will drop if it has this clear defect. But then again it's such a widespread known issue maybe it doesn't matter but I don't want to take a chance.

I know that this thread is old, but I'd thought that I'd put this out there.

My cousin recently dropped his iPhone 6, shattering the screen. He went to the Apple Store expecting to pay to have it fixed, but the Genius noticed the shifted camera and said that, because of the defect, they could replace it under warranty.

It may pay off to not have it fixed.

My iPhone 6 has always had this problem, I've just never gotten a chance to make it to an Apple store because I live so far away from one. However, last night my phone when for a 5 second swim, and I don't think it will survive.

It would be so nice to go to an Apple store, and have them replace my iPhone despite the fact that it doesn't even turn on due to water damage. I just don't want to make the long trip to the Apple store to have them tell me they can't replace a water damaged phone.

What are my chances? I really don't want to buy a new phone.

It's under warranty. Take it to an Apple Store & they'll take care of it. Here's my story:

I too noticed this problem on my 64gb iP6 a few months after purchase. They acknowledged it, & replaced my screen at no cost. After this screen replacement, I've noticed a lot of quirks w/ the device itself. For the most part, I let it go.

A few months later, it started moving again. My strategy was to get this problem fixed asap b/c I was unsure of it happening again, inside or outside of my warranty. Off to the Apple Store again. After inspection this second time, the Genius informed me that they would be replacing my entire device b/c it not only moved again, but they were getting errors from the logic board from replacing the screen the first time.

Brand new device now. This time, there was an unfortunate accident that caused the phone to bend & have No Service. I've had a lot of iPhones, & I think there's no way that phone should've bent from that accident. But anyway, I took it to Apple & paid 300+tax for a brand new one.
NOW, with my THIRD iPhone 6, the damn FF camera is starting to move AGAIN !! I've had it w/ this device & can't wait to trade it in for the 6s under At&t's Next plan. Hopefully they've built an overall better phone this time around

Some advice of you have this issue, get this fixed asap b/c you don't know if it will keep moving to the point where the FF camera is covered by the bezel making it unusable. The one year warranty is expiring within a few weeks now & whether it's a widespread issue or not, I think Apple will stop replacing these once it's up.

If it is on apple care, can they simple replace it? I don't want to "dance" more than an hour in my local mall. I think they can give a refirb one? I have the same problem. Camera is ok, but it time to sell mine soon.

I couldn't agree more with this advice. Get this fixed before your 1 year is up. Make sure you schedule an appointment and not within an hour before they close. Schedule it in the morning or early afternoon time.

They will replace the screen if possible. They will also check for water damage. If there's any water damage they will charge you $299 for a refurb. At least this is what was explained to me.
