Budget 6.1” lower cost display,no 3d touch layer, not the same camera with the oled ones probably, aluminum frame instead of stainless steel,3gb ram instead of 4...
So,anybody more questions?

Thank you Apple, please keep giving us huge phones that us people with small hands can't use conveniently. I just love being "forced" to huge phones if I want to have "full featured" iPhone. It's really my favorite thing to do.
Could 4.7" display in smaller package than iPhone 8 not be an option especially when you are crippling the device anyway?

I really hope that the entire lineup does not go for the notch, I prefer the notchless design. I’m sure that I would get used to it but I’m just not ready yet.

Agreed. And not only that, I'm not ready to give up on TouchID. If it ain't broke...

Daydreaming dreamers dream dreams.

1) All these daydreams of an LCD iPhone that looks like the OLED iPhone. Not happening. The bezels would have to be much bigger than that, and it may be thicker.

2) Why all these rumors of 5.8/6.1/6.5 iPhones? I'm going to laugh my head off at all you people when Apple does something entirely different than this.

I think it’s a mistake to make the base iPhone so big. A lot of people prefer a smaller form factor. Hopefully they aren’t done with the SE and produce an X-style version of it as well. Just because it’s smaller doesn’t mean they need to sell it for so much less! My wife just flat refuses to get one of these huge devices that are not very accessible for her smaller hands and pockets.
Dude, I feel your pain, as well (RE: SE as a preferred form-factor.)

But, looking at Cook's Apple, I believe that the goose is now well-cooked and the SE line going forward is as dead as a Thanksgiving turkey.

So true. It's just not possible to do that with LCD. I believe that some people are going to be disappointed as when placed next to the X, the difference will be very very noticeable. We shall see. Jony is a genius, so let's see what he does. Mind you, he did that damn 5C in an unapologetic plastic didn't he which really did apologise!

I've seen a 2 carat diamond that was cheaper than a 1 carat diamond. At the same store (each costing the same as ten iPhones). The 1 carat was best colour, best cut, and absolutely faultless.

Even cheaper if you get a shy carat.

Looks pretty disappointing for 2018. Will probably upgrade MBP instead and keep using iphone X.
Of course you will keep using the iPhone X. As I'll do. And I'm pretty sure Apple expects that, too. Why the hell should a person even consider updating from iPhone X after less than one year (free or extremely low priced upgrades programs not considered here)?

Basically what I was expecting. Notches look a little smaller on the OLED models, maybe because they are Face ID v2, while the 6.1 is v1? Could make sense to reduce costs a bit.

I think the SE will live on - they need it for the Indian market - after yesterday's terrible sales report for India, 2% this year? I agree the SE size is beautiful. I really hate those obese Plus iPhone's. To me, they look very very silly. They are huge and vulgar. Not my choice.

It actually is possible now, though not cheap to get that kind of panel. Obviously the bezels have to be thicker than oled, though.

Huge speed increase (biggest in years), 32gb ram (which was one of the biggest complaints for years), possibly fixed keyboard, etc.

Was certainly more than anyone who follows Apple actually expected this year. Tough to call it a disappointment when the definition of disappointment is “not living up to expectations.”

Don't worry: had this not been released then they'd have been complaining that the 13" doesn't have a quad-core option, the 15" doesn't have a hex-core option, 32GB RAM isn't available, and they're still selling the same keyboard.

Some people are never satisfied and just love to complain.

This is going to be a tough decision this year. I really like the physical size of the iPX (relative to its effective display area), but I think about the same tech in 6.5" package and how stunning that will look ... I guess for me, it might come down to some other compelling improvement(s) in the iPX+, I originally went Plus not only because of the display, but the OIS in the RFC - however, the X has it already, maybe some other new camera tech, difference in RAM, etc. I occasionally bust out my iP6S+ and think, nah, I don't want to carry something this size again ... unless ... :D

I still don't understand why an iPhone X is still hailed as having an edge-to-edge display, when it doesn't actually have an edge-to-edge display.

Same thing can be said about the fake 5.8", 6.1" and 6.5" sizes which are more like 5.3", 5.6" and 6.1" when accounting for the notch.

The hand fatigue I experienced when using a 8 plus for one minute after using the X was crazy..wish the 6.1 was OLED and minus 3D Touch I know Apple did this to have a bigger difference between the 5.8 and 6.5 display(which will explain the cost I’m sure) I don’t think I can go back to an iPhone that’s the size of a plus..but damnit I want that screen size lol

The hand fatigue I experienced....

This is true, but I think that fact will be lost on most consumers who will view the 6.1 as the "mid-range" iPhone with the 5.8 as the "low end" and the 6.5 as the high end. In the future, when the entire lineup goes to OLED I image they'll eliminate either the 5.8 or the 6.1.

I don't like the bigger bezels on the LCD 6.1. I wonder if that's why it's 6.1--to make up for the fatter bezels?
A little bit of perspective is needed here, don't you think? No one is going to view the LCD phone as the mid range because it will have the low end price. That will bring clarity pdq. :D Plus, people have been buying stuff for a long time and Apple's marketing will leave no ambiguity regarding the phone hierarchy. They're pretty good at marketing.

Anyone coming from an iPhone 8 or less can only look at the bezels on the 6.1 as thinner... waaaaaay thinner. The difference between thee LCD bezels and the OLED bezels is minimal. So to say bigger and fatter bezels is technically accurate, it's a bit hyperbolic considering past LCD iPhone bezels and the actual differences from the OLED bezels.

Which is entirely understandable, considering that Apple has been reserving higher-end features for the biggest phone for years. It would be disingenuous for anyone here to fault the average consumer, or people posting earlier in this thread, for assuming the big one would be the best one.

My iphone se looks better, they have put John Ive to Campus prisons and they let Marketing guys design "full screen" phones. Would never buy them. Can't tolerate ugliness.
Been using the iPhone X since launch day and look forward to buying the plus. I guess it’s a good thing not all people like the same stuff
