I think the SE will live on - they need it for the Indian market - after yesterday's terrible sales report for India, 2% this year? I agree the SE size is beautiful. I really hate those obese Plus iPhone's. To me, they look very very silly. They are huge and vulgar. Not my choice.
Agree. And, hope so. (But hope is eternal, they say.)

My premise:
Given that most people have the mobile phone as their only internet connection, thereby craving for phablet-sized phones, plus are married to WhatsApp for messaging, this may spell death-by-thousand-cuts to an upgrade of the SE line.

Like I said: hope not, because I feel exactly like you.
I am afraid we are now outliers to Cook's Apple.

MBP is at least for me the biggest disappointment of 2018. Basically nothing else than a specs bump. They are unable to come up with a machine everybody will be craving for. How sad. And all this just because of Apple total ignorance.
Why where you expecting anything more then a spec bump 2 years into a new MacBook Pro design

Why would you even have the need to upgrade from iPhone X? The time when people upgraded each year should be long gone as the tech advancements are super tiny compared to the beginning.
So, be realistic and save your money :)
I might upgrade but I'm still undecided as I'm not too crazy about the notch so I might pick up discounted iPhone 8. (my iPhone 6 is starting to show its age :-D )
I’m going to upgrade from an iPhone X to the plus but I also switched to leasing my phones since I usually do an annual upgrade

I don't see much of a reason the keep the SE around. It's such a small percentage of sales, it's not really worth it. Keep the iPhone 8 around for a year at a low cost and that should be enough.

Thank you Apple, please keep giving us huge phones that us people with small hands can't use conveniently. I just love being "forced" to huge phones if I want to have "full featured" iPhone. It's really my favorite thing to do.
Could 4.7" display in smaller package than iPhone 8 not be an option especially when you are crippling the device anyway?
You aren’t entitled to own an iPhone if they don’t offer a product you like you can always buy from a different manufacturer

Might be in the minority here but does anyone else like the bezels on the current iPhone X design? Not the notch but I like the thickness of the side bezels

My guess is that Apple knows (and probably many Apple employees experience first hand) that OLED flickering makes the phone unusable for sensitive individuals. Eye strain. The large LCD model will cover that base and it will be marketed as the "cheaper iPhone" when in reality it's the non flickering iPhone.
"Non Flickering Display" doesn't sound so good in marketing literature and press releases when the flagship models are the flickering ones.

I think it’s a mistake to make the base iPhone so big. A lot of people prefer a smaller form factor. Hopefully they aren’t done with the SE and produce an X-style version of it as well. Just because it’s smaller doesn’t mean they need to sell it for so much less! My wife just flat refuses to get one of these huge devices that are not very accessible for her smaller hands and pockets.

I totally agree! I bought the 6 when it first came out and was completely frustrated by the size and form factor, and switched to the SE the second it came out. I'm a guy with pretty average sized hands and using the 6 one handed was virtually impossible. The Reachability function was useless. I much prefer the feel of the smaller phone, if they offered one with the X specs I'd pay $1k for it.

So the larger iPhone X will look just like a larger iPhone X and the one that uses display tech that requires thicker bezels will have thicker bezels!?/!? OMG!!!!

Basically what I was expecting. Notches look a little smaller on the OLED models, maybe because they are Face ID v2, while the 6.1 is v1? Could make sense to reduce costs a bit.
I don’t see the notch smaller than X, it’s exactly the same, the lcd model notch seems the bigger though;

I still don't understand how a "budget" iPhone will be larger in screen size than the (smaller) high end iPhone
I don't understand what size has to do with cost. The price should depend on the quality of the components, not on the size of the screen. Hopefully this is the first step towards a more sensible strategy where size is only a choice like colour, that doesn't affect the price and most importantly doesn't affect the specs. The same camera and specs should be available on smaller phones, even at the same cost.

Why? same way you can have a big budget car and small premium car? you can have big budget TV and smaller size premium TV. This goes for pretty much any item you can buy, so why is this strange for a cellphone?

So does the 6.1-inch iPhone actually have the same bezel thickeness as the current X? And the more expensive 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch iPhones here are actually slimmer (bezel-wise) than they are currently? This article doesn’t make that clear.

This is true, but I think that fact will be lost on most consumers who will view the 6.1 as the "mid-range" iPhone with the 5.8 as the "low end" and the 6.5 as the high end. In the future, when the entire lineup goes to OLED I image they'll eliminate either the 5.8 or the 6.1.

I don't like the bigger bezels on the LCD 6.1. I wonder if that's why it's 6.1--to make up for the fatter bezels?

The schematics showed thicker bezels too so that probably adds credibility? At a guess I’d say the LCD tech doesn’t allow for such thin margins as can be achieved with oled.

I just don’t understand why features have to be exclusive to a screen size. The 6.1 is the perfect size, yet it’s going to be the least technologically packed. How am I supposed to decide between a phone that doesn’t do what I want, and a phone I can’t hold?!

What is the actual difference in bezel thickness between the LCD screen and the OLED Screens? From the pictures, it's not clear to me that the difference is big enough for the bezels, by themselves, are a deal breaker.
