Not so, properly applied. If you had the computer hooked to your TV and could get a great picture (HD?) then it is not a fad, it is an addition to your system. It would work well with Optical Out for Audio so you could do all your iTunes and DVD through the home system, and a great pic for running on the TV. I hope, as do others, that they will soon run an addition that will allow me to run on my PB.

Front Row has potential, just what is Apple going to do with it is the question.

Speaking of that.... how can I hook my mac up to my tv? I have an old g3 tower and an iBook. The iBook has the tv adapter, but I dont want the resolution to be down in the dumps. The tv is capable of 1080i. I would love to hook Front Row up to it!!!!

ibook will only pump out 1024 x 768 unless you get the screen hack for it lol

not sure about your G3 tower

it works perfect with my sony ericsson k750 and salling clicker.
you can download the script for salling clicker here:
http://www.salling.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2985

you can even open front row with your mobile.
who needs an apple remote, if you already have a cellphone?!!

how do you get your cell phone to work with it? Will it work with any phone? If i dont want to use my cell, where can I get a sallling clicker and how does it work?

yep this will definitely be on the next iLife. without doubt. i reckon! Its such an "i" application. perfect for the home. Apple will start producing a more universal BT remote to work on current PowerBooks etc and magic, they make a killing :D

maybe im getting ahead of myself, but 3 cheers for Apple :)

Got it working, it works great. The iTunes aspect doesn't work for me though.

Open iTunes before you open Front Row, then it works better, but not always. It's buggy, definitely.

have a look at the website of salling clicker at www.salling.com
im sure your device is also supported, there are about 90 devices.
see the list.
you have to buy a copy of salling clicker ($30.00), install it (it will automatically install also on your phone) and install the front row script.
its very easy.

all you need is a supported cellphone, bluetooth on your mac and your ready to go...

I didn't do this installing of frameworks and rebooting either...and it worked fine on both my iBook and iMac. There is only one glitch: it seems that if I leave Front Row and then attempt to come back...if I click "Now Playing" in the "Music" portion...I get an error. I have to go out and stop and start the song from within the iTunes window. That's annoying...

I'm using an ATI Remote Wonder with it...works like a charm. I programmed the "D" button to select the app and "C" to activate...so I'm totally keyboard free now!

Well it was open before.. but I just tried again and it worked this time. It's handy.. It's awesome for going through all my TV shows.

I think it's funny when people say this app is a "fad." We have apple, moving towards a downloadable movie store, we have iTunes, we have air-tunes and this progam provides a link to get the video to our Televisions.

And folks say "It's a fad."

It's vital and I'm thrilled to see it.

Here's to hoping that it will come out as something anyone can buy, for those of us with ethics.

I have that too. I think the version that you need to change framework is much more stable. I don't fancy editing my system files on my computer though, not when I'm doing tons of HW on it. :)

Ok, but how do I get that resolution to the tv??? Will an S-video cable carry that???

Works like a dream. No bugs detected here. But wish I could adjust font size as it's too big to display complete names of files as is. And would also like to be able to choose which of two or more monitors Front Row will appear on. No preferences section. Anyone know if the original has preferences for font size adjustments and display choice? :)

This is quite the public service. Mine runs flawlessly on a dual 2.5 G5. Love it. Thanks to you wonderful hackers out there. Love you. :p

Limewire shows nothing for me. This is frustrating reading this without being able to try it out. I imagine I would hardly ever use it, but I'd still like to mess with it.
