I don’t think Kang’s camera info is quite spot on, unless there’s lidar + 4 lenses, and based on so many leaks, that’s not probable. He’s saying it’ll have two longer lenses and a wide lens, ie no ultrawide. If by wide lens, he actually means ultrawide, then that would mean no 1x lens. I’m thinking there’s an ultrawide 0.5x, the 1x lens with a larger sensor, and either a 4x or 5x lens, but perhaps no 2x or 2.5x.

All 3 cameras being different between regular Pro and Max would be a departure from their current strategy. 2x and 4x lenses on normal Pro, 2.5x and 5x on Max? If the Max has a nearly 50% bigger sensor, that should make for a pretty big difference, and it can’t use the same 7-element lens and f/1.6 aperture in the same footprint.

I’m really hoping we’ll see that larger sensor though, 5x lens, and Dolby Vision 10-bit video and 4K 120... that would be nuts.

You think? To me, it sounds like some gadget no one is really going to use on a daily basis. I see no major game-changing usage. But maybe I'm wrong. We'll see.
I see Apple developing apps based on AR which will translate to Apple Glass. Imagine walking down the street and when you look at a restaurant, AR will pop up with a menu. I think it's unlimited what it will be able to provide in terms of instant information.

Trust me, this is one of these situations where I’m hoping that Prosser is absolutely wrong.
But if he’s not, Apple, what the hell are you doing?
First, you introduce the Apple Watch SE at an extra $79 then was predicted? That thing should have been $199. That’s the magic price point, remember? Phil Schiller and Steve Jobs used to talk about that all the time. $199 is the magic price point, not $279. even $299 would’ve sounded better psychologically. Come on now.
Then, just to add insult to injury, you take away the ceramic option for the Apple Watch. Yeah, it was quite expensive, and very much not popular. But I know people who actually liked it.
Then, you take your iPad Air, basically turn it into an iPad Pro, and upped the price. Apple has always tried to keep that $499 price. They have rarely moved away from it. But now its 599? What is going on. also, it is October. Where is it. Where is the iPad Air. You already have your next event scheduled, all the products from your previous event should be out by now.
Then, you have had an Apple TV ready for over a year according to rumors. But you’re still selling the old Apple TV HD from 2015, even though you know that it’s completely outdated. introduce a new model, or at least discontinue the HD. That’s just bad for customers, they don’t know that they’re buying a five-year-old product.
And now, you have two of your most exciting products in a long time, the AirPods studio, and the air tags. And you’re going to have the entire Internet attention next Tuesday. And what do you choose to do?
Delay the air tags another six months, even though all signs point to them already being ready, and Price gouge The AirPods Studio. The rumor has been that they would be $349. Where the hell is this $599 coming from, and why would anyone spend $600 on Apple headphones?
Seriously, I get that it’s a weird year and all, but what type of crack is Apple on.

get over yourself. When a product is released, and is more expensive than a rumor, that is the fault of the people believing the rumor not Apple. Apple has zero obligation to price their products based on what some random Twitter user thinks it should be.

Also, I’d rather them release products when they are ready, not when the internet wants them to be ready

Do wonder if the iPhone 12 Pro will have the glass back making a return, which was last used in the XS series. Not much of a fan with the 11 Pro material. Clearly there won’t be a press event to get hands-on. So will have to wait a little longer for the review units to find out when they arrive in their homes.
The 11 and 11 Pro are both glass backs.
If you are referring to the 11Pro’s mat finish, it’s still glass

I hope Apple pays someone to read this forum. With the loss your business from the lack of a USB-C port added to the three people who refuse to buy anything without a 120Hz display, their bottom line stands to take a whopping 0.0000000000000001% hit.

Tim will have his head on the chopping block before you can say, “The most valuable company in the world.” 🤣
You're vastly underestimating the people who care about basic functionality and consistency across their devices. The majority of tech users in the Apple ecosystem would absolutely prefer that their iPads, Macs, and iPhones all have the same connector. That's just a fact. It outright makes zero sense for all of those products to have a unified connector except for the iPhone. Having Lightning on one device is inconvenient and frustrating for everyone.

Don't forget all the accessories that have lightning. One cable that can charge my phone, my iPad, my Airpods Pro, my keyboard, and mouse is very convenient.

Kind of funny that the iPhone 12 'Mini' has a 5.4-inch screen. I remember way back when the first Galaxy Note came out with a 5.3-inch screen, how many people here lambasted it as "holding a tablet to your face". How times have changed.

Well the bezel reductions since then has made the dimensions much smaller, it’s not really a fair comparison.

But let's not forget that the original Galaxy Note had large top and bottom bezels which added to its overall size in the hand... and its screen was a different aspect ratio too.

So you can't just look at the screen size in inches to make the comparison.

I think the original Galaxy Note will still look like a tablet on your face... :p

This guy has literally already watched the Apple Event video due to release on Oct 13rd/14th, the same thing he has done for the September Event, so the likelihood is above 95%.

IMHO, I think the 12 (6.1) will be a great choice for an average iPhone buyer.

Am I alone here where I thought recent iPhone is less beautiful compare to the old ones: its multiple physical lenses and bigger (too many size variation)?

This is precisely the problem with Lightning, though. It means you need an extra cable for all those accessories and your phone. I should be able to use the same cable for all my Apple devices. All new iPad models have USB-C, and all MacBooks have had USB-C since 2016. The only devices left with Lightning are iPhones and random accessories. They all need USB-C, and they need it now. Sick of this bullshiz.

Currently, my only Apple device is my iPhone. Two USB-C devices (Surface and Xiaomi earpods). Everything else is USB-A/micro.

It won't initially make much difference to me whether the 12 gets USB-C or not as I already have several Lightning cables. But logic is very firmly in the direction of USB-C. If I get an iPad, which would be an Air or Pro, that would definitely push towards USB-C.

Doesn't unacceptable mean the opposite to getting one?! 😂
Look, I've got an important reason to possibly get one... If any of the tech shills on Youtube tell us how amazing it is, I'll just have to get it.

Actually all depends on the size of the first Apple Silicon Mac. If it's 13 or above then I'll grab that and forego the phone.

Does no mmWave 5G support outside the US imply a hardware variation or is it just disabled through software? It would be extremely annoying for such expensive devices that some keep for years to not be able to support it everywhere.

The overall lineup is extremely underwhelming compared to last year's models although the increased storage capacities on the base models are very welcome. We're basically having the same (overall) form factor and huge notch for 3 years now...
got to be different hardware sku/model because the mmWave module does cost extra $$.

Of course they will. It will be sold in many countries who doesn't even have a 5G network.

I’m sure the phones can be on non-5G plans, and that carriers without 5G would let you use another plan, but my question is if the likes of Verizon, ATT, T-Mobile, etc. will arbitrarily force us into 5G plans to have a plan on their network. If I recall there was some forced push to 4G with a past iPhone (4 I think)

Even if my carrier supports 5G, I just have no interest in paying more per month and where I’m at 4G-LTE is getting better service anyways.

Don’t get applecare then?

Much better phones for a lot less money. Apple putting out the most expensive iPhones in the middle of a worldwide pandemic are being very foolish. Their greed and arrogance have overcome them and they will find out their hard way they have made a foolish decision.
