I think it may be that carriers in other countries have no plans to support mmWave...
Telstra in Australia supports mmwave and already have a device that uses it. So hopefully we get that model in Australia. As I will be upgrading my 11 Pro Max for the new 12 Pro Max and I do have 5G in my area so keen to use it.

The 4x telephoto instead of 2x is interesting, I don't care about the ultra wide but having a 3x or 4x telephoto would help in some scenario.
Not sure a camera improvement is enough to entice me into buying 12 to replace my Xs though. I wonder about the display, if the base model is OLED it would be nice to have a better display on the Pro since there is a huge price difference.
They may differentiate with 5G capabilities, maybe more bands on the Pro, but 5G is not yet a thing here, and since we're going to be mostly at home for the next few months who cares about high speed in mobility?

The one thing that would make me happy is if the entire US lineup supports both Sub-6 and mmWave 5G instead of having to wait longer for mmWave model

I think that would be the case. mmWave seems to be region limited.

Pretty likely, they've done this almost every year in some shape or form.

Even though it will be interesting how this plays out.

Right now it is:
SE 399 (A13)
XR 599 (A12)
11 699 (A13)

If now they have:

SE 399 (A13)

12 5.4 699 (A14)
12 6.1 799 (A14)

They could just drop the price of the 11 to 599, which would be weird, as a 6.1 phone is cheaper than a 5.4 phone, and it seems that cameras stay roughly the same. Or they'll keep the XR and lower it's price by another 50, so XR for 549 then, but it has only a single lens and 2 generations older processor.

Does no mmWave 5G support outside the US imply a hardware variation or is it just disabled through software? It would be extremely annoying for such expensive devices that some keep for years to not be able to support it everywhere.

I'm sad because my carrier, Verizon, seems to be only supporting mmWave 5G.

So no 5G for me... unless I hang out on sidewalks in major cities... :p

The overall lineup is extremely underwhelming compared to last year's models although the increased storage capacities on the base models are very welcome. We're basically having the same (overall) form factor and huge notch for 3 years now...

Apple removed the power adapter and EarPods to save a few dollars. I simply don’t think they’re about to leave expensive and unused antenna hardware on millions of units.

for those wondering: 7P = 7 element lens which allows more light in to the sensor.
Really ?

I thought the extra elements is to help correct chromatic aberration etc that sensors are more susceptible to

This is about making images sharper and less distortions and you have to work harder to maintain light as reductions can occur the more elements you add

Ever since it became clear delays were 100% happening, I made sure to plan ahead of time by purchasing Apple Gift cards to maximize cash back on credit card then have it all ready to go when pre-orders go live

64GB base storage for 2020 phones is a SICK JOKE. I'm sure ya tiny handers will buy up the Mini, but that regular 12 at $100 (14%) up from the 11.. oleds & 1/2 assed 5G aren't that expensive. Interesting to see if the 11 stays on the market at an even more enticing reduced price.

According to the leak, all four iPhone 12 models will have Super Retina XDR displays and a new hardened Ceramic Shield glass screen, and all are capable of shooting Dolby Vision video, offering higher dynamic range. In addition, all phones are said to support 5G, but only the U.S. models of the iPhone 12 lineup will reportedly support the faster mmWave 5G band.

If the dates for the Pro models are correct, a lot of us could look forward to receiving a new iPhone AND a PS5 at the same time🤯
