With the yearly apple upgrade plans now it’s an extra month it doesn’t seem worth it to give phone back for like £450 might as well sell it

So this is where we all make predictions, right ? Except for the Mini which will sell very very well, the others will be the lowest selling iPhones ever. Not because they’re bad, but in the current economic situation, who needs a super-duper fast 5g phone , especially when most movement is restricted around the world and will be until at least early next year, and most peopke are working/studying from home ? And especially at that price...
Most Apple users will rather upgrade their iPads and Macs.

I suspect you're right. I think the SE will sell a lot of units to people upgrading from the 'classic' 6, 6s, 7 etc models who don't really care or want the new form factors and just want a cheap iPhone to last another 3-4 years. The 12 mini will sell very well to people upgrading from the same models and the X, XS, XR etc who upgrade regularly every 2-3 years and who want the dual cameras and latest model. Of the rest I predict the Pro Max will be the biggest seller as people with the means to splash the cash (or the belief they do) will likely want the best they can get.

So the uk will have bad 5g great
I rather thought that was/would be the case anyway - regardless any actual phones it is the 5G network that might well be bad.

Ripping out Huawei kit is likely to cause 4G problems, let alone its impact on 5G rollout.

Looks like 5G will be the main tent pole feature, as indicated in the invitation (speed).
It's a new iPhone, but not as exciting at this point (depending how Apple present it), especially for me who live in a non-5G country. Not sure where they are heading with LiDar either. More interested in the ceramic layer and hopefully that will solve all the recent complaints of scratches on the screens.

The uk has EE the best network for 5g so how can we not get the faster one
In my country, it appears that around 50% of EE's 5G coverage, possibly more, is actually over water - sea & estuary.

Clicking on their See 5G Plans does nothing of the sort - it jumps to phones.

Having a hard time justifying upgrading from 11 pro.

The 11 Pro from last year?!?!

Yeah... you probably don't need to upgrade... :p

But the good news is... the 11 Pro is still worth a lot of money. So you can offset the cost and you won't have to spend the full $1,000+ this year if you do decide to upgrade.

need a new phone to replace my X, and go for the Mini - but then I have to wait longer. Or, go for the more expensive bigger size. 🤔

Does anyone know if the Apple store allows for returns of iphones? If I buy 1 small and 1 big? Can I return a used iPhone when bought from the Apple Store?
In the UK you have 14 days returns which includes the phones even if used

Yikes. So the UK pricing is likely to be £729 for the 5.4 and £829 for the 6.1 non-Pro phones. That's for 64Gb, a 60Hz display and a big notch. Looks like I'll be staying with the 2020 SE for now.

Found this in the iPhone forum, which if true is exciting...

"In addition, there is a new screen glass technology, Ceramic Shield Front Cover, which is simply ceramic substrate glass, which increases the hardness and resistance to drop."

I know every year they say the glass is stronger and then in real life it doesn't seem to be any more resistant to drops or scratches...could this finally be the year?

There is no mmWave in the UK and I don’t think there are any current release plans. Thats not to say the phone shouldn’t support it so that when it is finally released you can use it. In reality for the next few years sub 6 5G is all that will be available over here

Isn't dolby vision embedded in during a video editing process and dynamically changes the brightness etc based on what the editors choose? Id love video recording with much higher dynamic range and colour but im skeptical on this one. Could be a translation error that actually means all 4 phones can just play dolby vision content.

I'm curious if any have TouchID in the power button like the new iPad Air.

yes no doubt that with the pandemic and masks there needs to be a backup for faceid.

Also I don't like the staggered release rumor but it make sense from a sales point of view,
My theory is that they wanted to release all iphone 12 models early November but with the new AMD cpus and gpus, PS5,Xbox series x being released in that timeframe plus the 2020 US election dumpster fire dominating the media mind share apple didn't want to be swamped,
So staggering the releases bringing some dates forward to avoid the tech and media carnage appears to be a good idea .

Also staggering the dates also avoids the traditional huge queues thus pr disaster if there was an outbreak so that could be another reason..

So 2 extra IUP payments now and then extra payments next year if they launch in September? Price you pay if you want to play I guess...
