No, Apple is not screwing you, shecky is happy to buy a MBP today!

i have not bought anything yet.

but i have also not had the wherewithal to continually spout the rhetorical verbal ejaculate of conspiratorial BS about how apple is screwing everyone and forcing them to buy overpriced last-generation hardware. you are right, they have a gun to all our heads as they twist our arms. but by you coming onto a forum and preaching about how evil they are it will surely change their business practices.

they are evil, evil people. really. they are. thanks for the heads up.

i actually think some of your opinions are valid, and you obviously are paying attention to the big picture, and i think the alternate viewpoint you choose to contstantly and neverendingly spout over and over to everyone is a good thing to be aware of.

im just sick of hearing it already. im not interested in debating you, disagreeing with you, or getting into some battle of rhetoric over what you think vs. what everyone else things.

im just tired of hearing it. you keep edging ever closer to just trolling as opposed to just offering a different point of view. thanks for the different point of view, no thanks on the trolling.

What you were experiencing was the entire OS zooming in. It's a great feature of OS X using the compositing nature of the OS graphics capabilities.

It's under the "Mouse" system preference , "Zoom using scroll wheel while holding ^ control".

Of course office can zoom into any document font size with sharpness. That's very ... 1992, and was implemented first on the mac version.

Are you saying you are willing to give up the goodness of OSX because of font scaling artifacts and go back to Windows?

Are you saying you are willing to give up the goodness of OSX because of lack of Core 2 Duo and go back to Windows?

Are you saying you are willing to give up the goodness of OSX because of high prices and go back to Windows?

Are you saying you are willing to give up the goodness of OSX because of limited upgrade paths and go back to Windows?

Are you saying you are willing to give up the goodness of OSX because of poor software compatibility and go back to Windows?

Are you saying you are willing to give up the goodness of OSX because of your lack of desire to beta test Apple's hardware and go back to Windows?

Are you saying you are willing to give up the goodness of OSX because of inability the run Microsoft Access and go back to Windows?

Are you saying you are willing to give up the goodness of OSX because of pathetic game support and go back to Windows?

Are you saying you are willing to give up the goodness of OSX because of zero .NET 2.0 support even through MONO and go back to Windows?

Are you?

Not all the things you mention are important to me (and I'm not going to argue whether your assertions are all correct), but yes, little things like font scaling, RSS (wow -- there are actually entire websites dedicated to problems with Apple hardware!), AirPort slowdowns, lack of native software (9+ months after introduction of Intel Macs), etc. are quite discouraging to me in my quest to go Mac :(

Wow!! has this thread ever been hijacked, I don't think there has been a posting in two pages that relates to the thread topic.

Look at that, I'm contributing to the lack of relevancy

:D

Thanks -- I'll try to see what happens when I change the zoom level using the View/Zoom command. But isn't there a more convenient way of changing the zoom level in the Mac version of Excel?

As to the entire OS zooming in, what's the use if the whole thing looks like you zoom in on a low res jpg?

Here's a little something to get it back on track. I'm sure this was posted on earlier pages, but I've not been back far enough to be sure.

AppleInsider is reporting that a major supplier of MB's and MB Pro's in Europe is totally out of stock and expect to replenish around Oct. 31. Could this be the updated systems?

this must have been done before, somewhere, but has anyone done a Post-Announcemnt Rumor Autopsy™ on previous announcements to analyze if things like the above (which i am sure have happened before) have any real relationship to new product announcements within a week's accuracy?

id be very interested in seeing that analysis. not interested enough to get off my lazy ass and do it, you understand, but interested in reading it for sure. :)

Mac Pro First For Sure Then MacBook Pro When AV Gives Us The Green Light

I thought you weren't buying anyway:confused: just here for moral support.
Well my plan is flexible according to what Apple offers. I am definitely getting the 8-Core Mac Pro first - like the day it becomes available which will be a first for me - unless it isn't until December in which case I will wait for iLife '07 to come with it January 9th.

I guess it's looking like waiting for Leopard and Santa Rosa will have to be the way for the full future proof model according to AV's posts no?

I am extremely tired of seeing this every time I open Safari:

-Johnny Depp/Video iPod
-Aperture 1.5
-"New" iPod Nanos
-Itunes 7
-"New" iMacs

It is very frustrating. Please do something Apple

This is the old mid-line stock option. Seems logical that their stock of these would be going down since it isn't being made anymore.

All the ones still being made are "In Stock" not showing how many are left, this is the same for black MacBook.

They also only have 5 of the top of the line 15" in stock. (2.16 GHz, 1GB ram, 100 GB 5400 SATA)

Will we see a laptop refresh before the end of this year, or will it be with santa rosa next year?
theres really no way to tell. I'm guessing and hoping something santa rosa like will be at mwsf in january. It wont be 100% Santa rosa because then we'd have centrino macs.

I will be happy even if Apple doesn't get the whole santa rosa deal (which includes Intel wireless option) and just get us Crestline. Heck, even Crestline is not important, just no overheating and a hard drive bay with Merom and I am sold.

Why can't they just make the MBP resemble the front grill of the MP? That'd solve the ventilation problems once and for all! Besides it is not a "laptop" so it is not like someone is going to put it on their legs and get the pattern chargrilled onto their skin.

Not true at all. If you had been to the Dec'04 lafcpu.org meeting at the convention center, you'd know that one of the two editors for the TV series "Scrubbs" edits the show from his home on the East coast, while communicating with the other editor who lives on the west coast, doing this on his 17in PB, wearing only a T-shirt and BVD's...Ok, maybe that's TMI, but he said it :p .

Purchasing From Amazon

Never thought about ordering from Amazon.

Does Amazon allow you to configure the MB or the MBP to your specific needs? Any negatives inherit ordering from Amazon?

Should Applecare be purchased at the time of purchasing the system or can/should you wait?

Arg - I'm getting so antsy these days waiting for the Merom MBP. I keep surfing Mac websites and see all these cool apps I could be using if I only had a Mac!

Damn you Apple! Damn you Steve Jobs! And most of all, damn you Windows for being so lame that I'm forced to switch!

1) No customization... and that includes no glossy models...

2) No customization, no student/government/developer/etc. discount... positives would be no tax (assuming Amazon does not collect taxes in the state you reside), they seem to always have at least a $100 rebate on the MBP models, and a 30 day return policy vs Apple's 14 day policy.

3) Yes, you can wait to purchase Applecare up to the expiration of the original 1 yr warranty.
