I was just at Best Buy and not only are the Core2 duo's now showing up everywhere but also the GMA3000 which replaces the horrid gma950.

You may have seen the X3000 in desktops, but the 965 chipset does not exist for notebooks yet...

I can't seem to escape CD2's!. First I saw an ad on TV (here in the UK) for 'PC World' cheapo machines with CD2 in them for £400 or something, then later saw an Intel Ad for Core Duo 2.

Seriously considered buying a 24" iMac, don't really know why as i need a laptop! But my money is gonna burn a whole in my pocket soon if Apple don't hurry up and get CD2 Macbook pro's out soon. I'm a student so have plenty of useless things to spend my money on. Beer is very expensive here:eek:

Looking forward to getting my new computer and spending more time on my work and less time getting angry at apple.

I'm just hoping that apple will have sorted out some of the heat issues etc and that is why their Pro machines haven't been updated. There's surely no other excuse.

Does anyone still think that it is possible that they will just release new CD2 MacBook Pro's without making any other changes?

Learn how to brew your own - it's easy, fun, and cheap. Check out this link:

Maybe the cider will finish fermenting around the same time MMBPs are released ;)

It was some HP desktops that I was looking at. 1st GMA 3000 I have seen but still havent seen 1 decent review of what its capable of.

Sure Quiet Here Now.....

Boy, this thread has gone drier than a popcorn fart!

Gotta take this URL link off of "speed dial," and do something more productive with the time I'm spending dreaming, hoping and praying for C2D MBPs!

Tuesday ..... Tuesday ..... Tuesday .....

You know, for people that only need portability on rare occasions there really is a viable way to do this... The iLugger iMac case

:D
lol click the iLugger in action link. it's got a funny photo accompanied by the caption, "Extreme Computing. Guy wreaks his bike while carrying his iLugger containing his iMac. He received a concussion and scraped up his bag, but his iMac was fine." rofl.

See its definitely coming. Or at least the massively ad supported blogs are now...
Article says an announcement could be made as soon as "next week." The article is dated October 21...which is now last week. Which means that an announcement could be any day now! :)

The improvements they listed are nice...and while it mentions a larger HD, nothing about an easy-access HD. Probably just an oversight...

Speculative news are entertaining for me. But I always wonder - why it seems foreign countries get more "inside scoop" about Apple than here in the US where Apple is located? No biggie. Just wondering. :)

Good question...maybe they don't care as much about being so tight-lipped, maybe Apple seems so far away...or maybe somebody's making speculations based on facts (much like we do).

all this buzz

all these rumors, and news... unlike every other tuesday that has passed since the opening of this thread, theres an electricity in the air... it has to be this week :D :D :D :D ....

(of course i said this last week, and the week before that, and the week before that :(, STILL ITS THIS TUESDAY OR WEDNESDAY! )

LOL, MGag is hedging their speculative bets "“Whether the consumer MacBook will be updated to Core 2 Duo this year remains unclear, but possible,” MacGadget reports." They might as well say the same about the MBP!

Bigger hard drive, well that's an easy guess which could be true, most of the major laptop drive makers have 5.4k 160GB perp. drives shipping now, but will Apple offer that as an *option*? They could have offered the Seagate 160GB 5400.3 Momentus as far back as January of this year, but choose not to.

Faster graphics (minor update to x1600, via x1700, yet another easy guess, but no significant changes to higher performance/higher watt consumption GPUs, because that would require more extensive internal cooling changes for the case) no brainer, though Apple could still use the x1600, and not do any changes until Santa Rosa in April of 2007?

Time for a poll?

Which do you think will happen if Merom MBP's are release in the next few weeks:

a) absolutely no changes other than Merom inclusion (I suspect this)

b) minor upgrades included on the MBP17in, but yet to appear in the MBP 15in to GPU, mag latch, FW800 in MBP 15in but no 2k res screen , it's either the new screen res or continuing with the same old res, cause Apple doesn't offer CTO screen res options. (I hope for this, but don't think it will happen)

c) Major hardware upgrades, much faster GPU (again, no options as Apple doesn't offer you multiple choices on GPU's anymore than it does screen res), 2k screen, 1st to ship with Seagate's 7.2k 160GB drive that is supposed to officially be available 1st Q07, 1st to ship with Blu-Ray slot loader as part of top of the line configuration for the MBP17in? (I don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell for this to happen).

d) For the Koolaide crowd of zealots: Santa Rosa/Crestline woo-hoo, 800Mhz DDR2-8GB CTO option on the MBP with extra slots, 2.5GHz Merom...Apple 1st and only manufacturer to get this chip ahead of other laptop giants. 2nd gen 50GB 8x Blu-Ray slot loader, yeah that's the ticket.---time to put the bong down.

Somewhere between these two options.

I'm willing to lug around the 17", now that I can stop carrying around two laptops when I need to use a PC @ certain clients...although that would mean getting a new bag :(

Apple is going to look realy stupid at the Mac-Expo London without C2D portables, and will get alot of questions about why they're not, if they're not released this week.

I expect a significant refresh, as the Yohah MBP's always seemed kind of rushed in a "Yikes!" kind of way. Support for more than 4GB memory (new chipset), the new ATI mobility card that offers similar performance with less heat, and other basic additions such as Dual layer DVD drive, FW 800, Mag latch if it will work through aluminum, possibly a higher rez screen...

dats exactly what I want :)

hope the higher end 15" will come with the 2.33 ghz standard and not as a CTO option, i don't wanna have to pay another couple hundred bucks.

I REALLY hope for a higher resolution screen , plus i'm going to buy Logic Express which is only a measly £89 on the Apple store for NUS. :D
