I'm really excited. If we buy now can we get a free upgrade to iLife '07 or is it too early?

I think it's tomorrow but i'm out of the house at University from 9a.m, then to work until 9p.m so i won't be in the house until nighttime!!! I'll be thinking about MBP's all day , and if i get in and theyre not upgraded i'll bloody well die!:D :p If only there was a WAP site on my phone where i could check. lol . . . sad , i know.

Oh , when they are upgraded, will someone kindly go through each update? ; for example 'the graphics card is now x16006779 which means better graphics with less power" , stuff like that. Wonder will battery life improve.

I can see it coming!!! MBP C2D, everything else upgraded :D

I'll bet against that happening, unless you mean very small/minor upgrade tweaks. Apple will not have an ATI or NV GPU upgrade that consumes less power, yet has significantly higher performance, all the higher performing GPU's generate lots more heat, and Apple will not do a case/mb redisign to handle that much excess heat. Modest GPU upgrade in performance at best.

Higher screen res? maybe, but I don't expect it, Apple is historically a laggard in this regard. 2k res on a MBP maybe, but no way on a 15MBP.

No new chipsets (Crestline is not shipping this year, put your bongs down :p ).

Apple simply could not get Intel to supply them with enough of the lower yield, higher Mhz Merom chips; after Apple decided to use them in the iMac 1st, end of story. When Intel has shipped them enough to have an updated MBP, then they will ship, that's all there is to the delay.

Time to start the waiting game for Santa Rosa, spring - H1 2007; after all the moaning & groaning threads on how the Napa/Merom update sucks, subside.

Apple is going to look realy stupid at the Mac-Expo London without C2D portables, and will get alot of questions about why they're not, if they're not released this week.

iMac C2D was refreshed the week before photkina (however its spelled) no?

MBP C2D week before expo? That could be nice.

Yes by why iMac before MBP? MBP is more of a Pro computer. I doubt many parents are thinking lets get my kids a MP or MBP for christmas... I would think the iMac would have been the ideal refresh during the holiday season...

Wow, we really are slowing down here....

Remember, another tuesday is coming up very quickly! :D

Tuesday

Tuesday is rapidly approaching. However, for some of us, the time and space continum is slightly different than the rest. Tuesday will come and some of us will sit in front of our computers waiting in anticipation for that Apple store to go down and "be right back". We will feel like little children waiting in line for Disneyland, waiting to cross that magical gate.

What?!

:)

Just don't stay up all night waiting. (I want to be the first person to order the damned thing).

Becasue they didn't have to worry about heat issues, and could just stick it in. Portables require a bit more thought (and time).

I just clicked on a link to Circuit City with the ipod family including the new shuffle. When i looked at the pre-order for the shuffle, it says the release date is 11/10. Do you think this is just conservative or the actual date apple is releasing them? It would be a Friday.

I have a question, what is the current chipset? and couldn't apple use the 945 PM chipset? that would give 4gb ram support.

Surely there HAS to be a resolution upgrade?!...when was the last one...last year? Alot of people talking on this forum are stating other manufacturers are shipping with higher res. screens , surely the MBP which Apple bills as one of the best and most professional notebooks on the market must have this.

MacExpo?? Piffle

Mac-Expo.. it's just a mac-mall for 4 days.. why do Apple care what some shoppers and kids on half term break think!

Apple already is using that chipset, but as AppliedVisual has pointed out, those 4 GB include the RAM heap, EFI/BIOS and video RAM. So, although other manufacturers sell systems with this chipset with 4 GB physical RAM, the chipset can't actually address all of the RAM...

Alright guys, so here are all the recent articles that I have found regarding the possibility of new Macbook Pro's this week or next. (Sorry in advance, I didn't know how to make the links all nice...)

Check out the last two articles...could it finally happen, THIS Tuesday?

I know that I am greatly awaiting these releases, and I'm gonna be up early tomorrow morning checking the Apple Store. I hope that this isn't like the past 10 Tuesdays though...I know that it is a 50/50 chance.

Here's to tomorrow ladies and gentlemen. I hope to celebrate with you guys at this time tomorrow :D

30" Dell Is Now $1279.20 • Holy Molly! Paid $1349 Last Week

I can live with soon. The dell monitor 30" is 1299 right now!! sweet... Will the MBP run the dell monitor well? I know the 17" has the dual DVI but I was just curious if i'd see lag and what not.

Also does the 30" have component and composite video imputs?

Sorry not to get off topic
Holy Molly now it's $1279. They just lowered the list to $1599 from $1799 last week. Any chance we can get a price adjustment?

We paid $1349 last week. That's another $75.60 less including tax. Man I could of had an iPod Shuffle for that. :(

Yes all the MacBook Pros will drive the 30" Dell just fine. Mobile Pro Macs have been Dual-Link DVI Since the last PowerBook G4s a year ago.

No the 30" has no video imputs. For that you want the 2407WFP 24" 1920x1200 now only $679.15. Together they make a great pair for a stock single Card PowerMac or Mac Pro.

You are NOT off topic. This is all relevant to our waiting game. :p

i am actually just about ready to make a decision on the 2407WFP to go with my soon to be purchased merom 17" MBP. i just want to make sure it will run games under bootcamp well and do some more research regarding color accuracy, etc.

eveything i am reading says its pretty good but not perfect, but i am not about to spend the money on an Eizo so i can live with pretty good.

Dell 2407WFP Is Great @ Only $679.20

I think it's great. Color looks perfect to me. I watch HDTV on it all the time with an EyeTV 500 Tuner and EyeTV2 software.

You have total control over the color on it. There is a RGB adjustment dialog box in it.

i am also considering the Sony SDM-P234 which is a little more expensive but is an S-IPS display and supposedly has a much higher quality image + color accuracy. while games are fun and all this is primarily used for my design work so that stuff is a heck of a lot more important than USB ports and card readers.

hmmmmmmmmmmmm

but back to the topic at hand, i sure as heck hope we see the new machines tomorrow :)

Yeah, but this Sony model is based on the previous generation Sony/Samsung LCD panel -- the equivalent panel to what was in the Dell 2405W that the Dell 2407 replaced. Now it's not an Apples to Apples comparison as we're looking at the 23" panel vs. the 24" panel, but both come from teh same manufacture facility. The 23" model has a little bit different specs other than the slightly higher pixel density... Overall, not much difference. I've never seen them side by side though, but have seen both with my own eyes. ...Try to see them both for yourself it you can, but I doubt you'll think the Sony is worth the extra money... IMNSHO. ;)

Me too, but the voices in my head are saying it will be wednesday.
