Boy, doesn't everyone realize that only the bad guys wear black? Good guys wear white! We all want to be good guys, don't we? So, don't go down the dark path! :D :) :D

Darth Vader supports your theory; but the Stormtroopers undermine it.

Also I'm sure the KKK think they're the good guys but...

I had the same worry, but the Gap has a lot of Product (RED) stuff that is not red or that has just a hint of red. If this comes to fruition, I expect a black iMac with the word (RED) somewhere on the back.

How about a black iMac with a red Apple logo? or a standard iMac with a red stand. And Im not sure I like the idea of a black MacPro I think it would look too much like a Dell or HP

I don't see how this is saying anything...Apple's product line hasn't been updated in 4 months as far as macs go. It makes sense to do all of them then within the next four. Q2 falls in line with that.

Let me go write a blog with this post and see if I can make it to the front page of macrumors or digg.

C'mon longofest!

I don't care about colors, except maybe black. I have an old 12" PB G4 and I'm holding out until Apple starts putting SSD into their machines. Now that will be sweet. At Macworld next year.....u wait.

Glossy Black

I wouldn't be surprised to see a Black iMac - blossy black is the new colour for consumer devices it seems. Many new TVs have a glossy black finish (like my new 32" Sharp Aquos ;))

I was hoping for updated Mac Minis soon - I refuse to pay $600 for a Core Duo Mini, but I really want one to plug into the afore-mentioned Aquos

Definatly in need of a new update, and a black iMac would just be sick nasty !! :D :D

This goes to show, that the new iMac product updates will happen right after I buy one. :)

I always hoped that I could buy my white iMac, when the black one comes out, ask apple if i can turn in the white one, pay the difference for the black one, and apple can sell my white one for refurbished prices. Everybody wins! :D

The last time the imac used color as a marketing tool, it was a fair success. I'd rather apple focus on improving technology (DVD HD drives, blueray, touch screen, os) that new colors. Black I can sort of see but for other colors go ahead and get a custome color design for your application.

i'm all for new technology in my macs, but i don't want a mac with an hd-dvd or blu-ray drive in it just yet. i'd like to see which format, if any, will win out. i also don't see touch screens being of much use in consumer pc's as the mouse and keyboard combination is already sufficient. what applications could the touch screen really bring? pinch zoom, touch scrolling? these are things i can do without a touch screen. as for black imacs, i'm all for it. maybe instead of the glossy black plastic, it would be the matte black finish like the macbook or anodized black aluminum like the ipod nano. i say we go all out and color the stands, too!

I'm tellin' ya, a super-tiny-teensy-weensy-somewhat cheap MacBook would be kickin'! I am almost drooling already. If it came in colors... :)
Also, if you think about it: There is the Mac Mini, and the iMac. Those are Apple's desktop computers, And then there is Mac Pro for professionados. Why not bridge the (admittedly small) gap with another computer line?
It is just a dream of mine. Oh well.

Ok, I dont want to get flamed so I will start off by saying a have no problem indorsing or supporting pruduct red But, I think a red iMac would burn my eyes. I just dont think solid red would look good with an iMac I cant stand the color ware version.

Same here for both - red and black. Even so I do like the iPods a lot in that colors I wouldn't like iMacs. MacBooks might be something to think about.

A red or black iMac would be rather tasteless, especially in 24". Then again, I already find the black nano tasteless. Looks like a Russian mafia version, like a black BMW or Audi. Just get silver if you're too serious for colours. I'd like to see it anyway, maybe they can pull something off. If Ive's team can reduce the fat look of the iMac some more, as they've already done it in late 2005 with adding iSight and trimming the borders that would be great. Oh, and bring back desktop CPUs. If you could put a G5 in the iMac, why not a proper C2D? But I'm off topic.

An update to the current product line in Q2 is most likely. A coloured iMac maybe not (perhaps black), but given Apple's history of course it's likely the current line of hardware will receive upgrades. I think that's a no brainer or perhaps wishful thinking on my part given I'm getting a new Mac in May/June :D

Isn't this what everyone really wants? :p
