This is true, at least OSX is customizable, for now anyway. When they finally merge iOS and OSX I fear we may lose that ability though.

True, but that doesn't make the facts less true. The integrated business model allows Apple to make OS X free and it delivers.

This could be a good thing, or something that will grow old very fast. I think we need to try it ourselves before really passing judgement. I'm also concerned about it in the long run

Things like this have zero effect on productivity anyways so why would anyone care much about it?
