This could be a good thing, or something that will grow old very fast. I think we need to try it ourselves before really passing judgement. I'm also concerned about it in the long run

If it's anything like iOS. It's a mild enough translucency that doesn't hurt readability and usability and eventually just blends in.

Exactly. It’s about ratio of adoption of a new OS, not totally numbers.

Seems like a simple concept.

Windows isn't free, though. Not a telling comparison at all. If you had to pay for Yosemite with its flat icons, I wouldn't expect a take up anywhere approaching 50%.

Hey Apple, Windows Vista called. It wants its translucency back.

Translucency has existed since 10.0 in OS X, subtle but it was Windows that came in late, and took it to the next level with almost glass like look.

Personally, I like the classic OS X way better.
