In android they are capable to choose the version they want, the dont like kit-kat, they can go back to another one they like. Adopt iOS7, youre stuck with iOS7, like it or not. Fragmentation is not present in iOS as users have no choice once they upgrade. Android users have their freedom to revert. 'Fragmentation' isnt always a bad thing IMO

It takes a special OS like android to make you boast about fragmentation

But can I reply from the lock screen and will the screen dim after my message is sent? Probably too much to ask... I'll wait for iOS 9.

I have to laugh when these live blogs get snarky over Apple taking some shots at the competition. As if nobody else does it, or never takes shots at Apple.

It's not that they can't take shots ... it's that the shots are so transparently misleading. Comparing adoption percentage of Windows 8 and OSX Mavericks (ignoring difference in installbase, the fact that one was a free upgrade, etc etc etc). The same with Android ... over 50% in China from Android to Apple (because, you know, Apple and Android has been an official choice before).

I would argue that not only is there fragmentation in IOS but it's more confusing.

The same version of IOS does not have the same features across all devices. As you go back in generations of a device running the same version of IOS they lose more and more features. Makes it confusing to support.

Taking that into account you can computer ios7 to andorid 4.4. It makes more sense to compare ios7 to android 4.x

And even worse, Apple calls their own stuff "amazing", something NEVER any competitor would do.. no.....

Historically the problem I have isn't that Apple calsl their own stuff Amazing.

they're allowed to. I call their stuff amazing.

But the Reality distortion field at these keynotes can be quite high with comments like "

'we've invented the best thing ever...'

or

'we've innovated everything in here....'

Despite we know that, everyone in the industry borrows from eachother and builds upon the history of the entire industry.

there's tasteful way of pumping your tires, and distasteful ways.

so far to be honest, except for a couple quips (like the OSx update share v Windows), the RDF hasn't been that bad this keynote.

I think it is a big mistake to dump everything into OS. Just look at the iOS and Android. I Android most features can be updated as apps while Apple has to constantly update iOS in order to fix/improve the functionality of features that generally have nothing to do with OS.

Like Google has its Google Apps. Maybe. But Apple really wants to get in between Google and Apple Customers doing searches.

Mac-iPhone integration and iOS quick replies are the two features I've wanted more than anything else, so I'm quite happy!
