Did I miss it?

I must have not been paying attention. So what new hardware products did Apple announce to go with the updated OSs?

Finally.

It is Apple's most massive software release since the introduction of OS X.

Now it needs the serious computer hardware to go with it.

nice step forward, but....
really? no hardware announced? Cue: its a developers conferece response
When is one new piece of hardware going to be announced by timmy? 12/31?

Seriously. Stop whining, appoloa. We get it, android had this before. You sound like a little kid going na na na na poo poo (same with lilo77). Shutup already.

If you don't like it go somewhere else. Nobody is forcing you to read his posts.

open standards

I think Apple is trying to pull a Microsoft on us and it will bite them in the ass just as it did MS.

Ditch OpenGL for ClosedMetal?
Ditch ObjC for a fly-in-the-pan "new" Apple-only language called Swift?

This is bad. Very bad.
Iamthinking.

No iPhone 6...

Yes. Clearly the iPhone 6 has been cancelled. Next iPhone model will be the 7, in 2015, if Apple are even still in business then.

Here is a brief summary of the keynote:

  • The product pipeline is empty
  • Apple can't innovate without Steve
  • Apple is doomed

God (and my post history!) knows I'm far from an Apple fanboy, and i gave them a ton of **** since the 4S, but...
When did their engineers sleep?
Swift, HomeKit, SceneKit, Metal, TouchID API, ...

While I'm definitely not fond of iOS, the new tools they just demo-ed are quite awesome, Continuity seems really handy (Craig's favourite line! :D), the phone call can be incredibly useful from a business (or even personal) point of view, etc.

I take back half of the bad things I've said about Apple :<

So September is the release of all the software and hardware.

At least the devs amongst us have something new, the rest of the apple fans can wait till fall for anything new.

I am just blown away at all the work, time and effort Apple puts into OSX, iOS, now the developers SDK, etc. I think most of this is missed by the general public as the only thing they are looking for is the new gadget they can go buy and don't realize the tremendous things Apple does behind-the-scenes to make all of their products work so great.

*However, I still don't believe Tim Cook quite understands that Apple is missing the Magic of Steve Jobs and his famous "Oh, one more thing..." Even though today was stock full of amazing new features, I think they needed to announce something tangible to keep the excitement going. Guess it will be 4 more months of rumors...
