Serious question (because I don't know the answer): do any of those services allow you to make/receive calls at your computer, via your mobile phone line?

I dont think so. I believe they use VOIP. But when/if I make calls from my laptop using the google chat web browser plug-in they go out and it has my caller ID on it.

Is it a big positive to have the calls originate from your cellular connection? I think the industry is moving away from cellular calls and moving towards using VOIP over data to save money on Cellular plans with fewer minutes.

Nope he's right. If you watched the whole 2hrs and came away with NOTHING then the problem lies with YOU. But hey, feel free to keep telling yourself what you want. The rest of the world will be busy marching on with their lives.

Yet, you felt the need to tell me this. Not even living up to your own word...

Perhaps to do with Broadwell chips being delayed? I don't really see Apple announcing Mac updates like that then people are left waiting for months. The iPhone and iPad are always updated later on in the year. We will see the new Macs hopefully Q4 2014 which is fine by me, my rMBP is only half a year old and my iPhone is just a little bit older than that.

Honestly, the only reason why I care is because I'm in the market for a rMBP. I know that Broadwell isn't out yet, but there are speed-bumped Haswell chips that they could put in, as they did with the MacBook Airs. Oh well. I'm going to wait until the back to school promotion begins and buy the current model.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO.

Auto-suggest is a horrible distraction.

Coming back to iPhone from Android, that was actually one of the things I liked, none of those annoying suggestions always popping up. I like the simple, clean keyboard of iOS. The only change I would add is differentiate between upper case and lowercase better. When I look at the shift button I have no clue which one is which and the letters on the keys are always capitals.

iOS Messages = WhatsApp and SnapChat, except not as successful.

Apple should just buy BlackBerry for the BBM and then take BBM and replace iMessages with it.

I'm officially excited!
Yes, it's so refreshing to see that Apple, via their actions, have admitted Samsung got it right and inspired Apple to follow.

That it took Apple a mind numbing number of years to comprehend their failures, they've finally set them right, a milestone of great awakening for Apple.

They now have a relevant Android style notification system and highly functional swiping keyboards to choose from. No longer crippled by having to hammer on glass, a crude input method, Apple has seen that gliding across the keys is lighting fast, ergonomically healthy and easy.

Proof positive that despite their vitriolic law suits, desperate attempts for revenge and an all out effort to ban Samsung products, Apple has returned to competitive form thanks to Samsung.

Trust me, I have yet to 100% utilise my i7 chip in mine. It's hugely capable. Just go for it if you need it now. :D

The only thing I was baffled about is the new Photos App on the Mac. Why would it take until next year for them to release that? How could it not be ready by fall? How complex of an application could it be?

not sure.

my "logic" tells me that, if the photos is delayed as long as 10.10, then likely it's heavily integrated into the core code of the operating system in some way, rather than just an Application that sits on top.

I think it’s because that’s how long it will take Apple to acquire, integrate and re-package Pixelmator :D

We are not evaluating friends here.

Under Steve Jobs, apple came up with the iMacs, MBP, iPhone, iPad etc...
I will take that over the Cook listening to people.

What I am saying is both traits are good to have. Sometimes you have to be bullheaded but sometimes listening makes sense.

Hmm, you must be easily "confused" or don't have a good memory. I'm personally excited to find out more about what's in store for Mac OS X and iOS, but it wasn't unreasonable for people to think we might have seen new hardware at WWDC.

Here are a couple links:

From 2012: WWDC 2012: Apple announces new MacBook Pro, starting at $2199

From 2013: Apple introduces new MacBook Air models at WWDC 2013

And 2011, WWDC no new hardware! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/apple/8558989/Apple-WWDC-2011-as-it-happened.html

I don't think that you can make calls on Yosemite without an iOS device

Uh, I'm pretty sure you knew what I meant since it was demonstrated today. Come on. Let's not play with each other. And you still can't do that on any Windows machine with your cell phone.

I'd be okay if Apple bought Pixelmator. It's actually a great app. Haven't had any Adobe installed on my Macs in years since Pixelmator.

Can anyone check if the full screen calling photos are really back? They showed it during the demos, and it's presented as full screen on their site here:
overview_mac_ios_hero.png

One user reported that he still has the circle calling pictures. Maybe you just have to add it a different way, straight from the iPhone, or sync it with the Facebook app. Please could a developer tell me if the full screen caller pictures are really back?

Do you guys think we will see payment innovation from apple?

Any updates on the Apple TV?

Any hardware (e.g. iWatch) to feed data into the new health book platform?

I agree. This was an amazing keynote. The software they showed was really incredible and I can't wait to use it.

What's hardware without great software. :D

I am just blown away at all the work, time and effort Apple puts into OSX, iOS, now the developers SDK, etc. I think most of this is missed by the general public as the only thing they are looking for is the new gadget they can go buy and don't realize the tremendous things Apple does behind-the-scenes to make all of their products work so great.

Oh yeah, it’s a fantastic app. I picked it up for $14.95 a couple of years ago, and have been surprised at the continuous free updates (even through a couple of major versions).

humdrum keynote. nothing spectacular for the end user.

only thing great was swift, but only developers will get excited over that.

YOUR POST, EPIC FAIL.
This was a SOFTWARE developer conference for developers to make SOFTWARE for the forthcoming hardware. You came to the wrong place if you expected otherwise. Sometimes Apple reveals new hardware but the two hours they put into today was filled with very good info on new software that was very much needed.

Relax bro. It is quite common for them to release hardware at WWDC.

New hardware is also very much needed.

LOL. I believe you're confusing Samsung with Android, two very different things. I see no touch-wiz borrowings here, and touch-wiz is nothing to brag about!

I think you should first read up on Samsung's history if copying other company's intellectual property over the years. Not just Apple's, but everyone. It is their MO..... They are not really that creative.

It was rare for apple to be to the market first even with jobs. Apple is so successful because they make great products and fix the mistakes that others made.

Then how come all the Apple fanboys point fingers at other company for copying Apple when it's the other way around?

Really?

Use your mobile from your computer, finally a way to share data between apps on iOS. These are things that an end user will find very useful.
