Because all Wall Street cares about is new hardware. To them that's all Apple is - a company that makes gadgets people buy, and Apple didn't announce any new fancy gadgets today. Of course what they don't get is what Apple announced today will be huge for hardware in the fall and beyond. And a lot of the stuff they announced today could some users who left back to iOS. Especially with 3rd party keyboards, inter-app communication and interactive notifications.

Well for one, since no hardware runs Apple software other than Apple hardware, hardware is pretty important to Apple....and Wall Street. Everything shown today is "free" and so the question is, how much of what was on show today would make you buy Apple as apposed to keeping or prolonging the life of the gear you already have; I fall in the latter category. I guess that is why Wall Street "cares"

Because Windows 7 has it in the Aero Glass desktop style. All that translucency looks just like Win 7 did/does. Copy cat Apple.

And what is with those flat icons in the dock. I like my reflective shiny dock. What is it with their obsession with "flat". People buy Retina displays to display high resolution high-color images. Not these plain looking, two-three color icons. UGLY!!!

win 7 aero was ugly and took up space. i think apple is going with the flatter look to save on memory. this should make for a better smoother experience al around. it looks pretty b/c of os x or ios tech and ui design.

Hmm, you must be easily "confused" or don't have a good memory. I'm personally excited to find out more about what's in store for Mac OS X and iOS, but it wasn't unreasonable for people to think we might have seen new hardware at WWDC.

Here are a couple links:

From 2012: WWDC 2012: Apple announces new MacBook Pro, starting at $2199

From 2013: Apple introduces new MacBook Air models at WWDC 2013

They announced new MBA models a few weeks ago, so I guess that is out. If they had saved that announcement till today, you and everyone else would be wondering why they waited.

quick question if anyone caught it.

OSx 10.10.

all that integration with the iPhone. I really like it built into the OS.

but, will it require an iOS8 iPhone? what about Android, Windows phone, Blackberry?

You have absolutely NO IDEA what you're talking about, PERIOD. OS X came first with translucency. The very first OS X and several versions afterwards. THEN, Microsoft brought out Vista copying Apple. Please get your facts straight.

No kidding, I'm at work and it's going to be hard to not give in. Even if I have it playing in the background, I'm still going to be too distracted...must resist.

I couldn't help myself. I project that usually takes me 30 mins took 2 hrs today...damn you WWDC!

You live in a dream world where Steve Jobs was a customer is always right kind of person. He was the kind of person that was sure to release as much information as possible about a problem to the customer. Get real.

I am sorry you are having trouble. I had a 2010 MBP that was affected and they fixed it without an issue. Have you tried to call in and get someone to authroize the repair. Geniuses are not always that smart...

i have this dubious feeling that 10.10 will no longer support MBP's w/ the Nividia GT330m dGPU. So, yours might be "fixed" now but you won't be able to use 10.10 "Yosemite" if my prediction is right.

I will let you know later today.

No really it's not but I see you just want to be argumentative.

Have a nice a day.

What are you talking about? You said that the problem is solved if you only download from the play store. That's not true, because malware had been available in the play store before.

I don't get your angle. Are you just in denial that android has a malware problem?

Again, just because you havent been affected by it doesnt mean it doesnt exist.

Lol yeah it's a crazy idea isn't it?
"Wall Street" aka apple shareholders/owners want management to release good products and sell their shares of the company when they lose faith.

Shocking.

I really need to upgrade my MacBook Pro and I know the minute I click purchase they will announce something. My late 2010 MacBook Pro just can't handle CS6.

If you got one heavily discounted at places like Amazon, there's barely £100-150 difference between the 2Ghz i7 15" Retina and the 2.4Ghz i5 13" model. Even if they did update the Macbook Pro within months, there's usually just a token CPU power bump (2ghz 2013 model is equivalent to 2.3Ghz 2012 model etc...) and you'd be comparing a system you spent £1200 or so on to something replacing it at a full retail price of £1699.

Just so ugly - and I bet they'll be no way to customise it as well! How have we devolved to toy OSs?

Well maybe since 2 major OS companies think a "Toy OS" reaches the masses better then maybe it's you that's gotten too old. :D

On another, don't create a case that hasn't happened, such as you saying we won't be able to customize it.

10:48 am "That's like ancient history."
10:48 am 1/3 of Android users are running a version from four years ago.
10:48 am 9% on KitKat.
10:48 am "This is in stark contrast to Android."
10:47 am 89% of install base are running iOS 7.

Good job catching up to an ancient OS that's 4 years old!
