This article is complete BS. The Compass or Auto-Focus features have not been in ANY 3.0 beta to date. Plus these features require new hardware, new hardware not available in the 3G iPhone. Which he never mentions in the blog post.

Yeah but don't you see, he said the screenshots were already posted a month ago. The images could have been just saved to the iphone and then made to look as if it were from the new iphone. The compass images and such which are not in the 3.0 software like you said, doesn't prove anything regarding the usage of these new features bound to come in the new iphone. This means that the images could be fake.

However, I'm pretty sure even if this is fake, the new iphone will come out in wwdc and will resemble these features.

Almost anything we've seen so far could be a fake. I think they're real because it would not be out of the realm of possibility. We know that there will be a digital compass already. We also know that there will be a new camera and the company that is rumored to be s supplier for the camera has a 3.2MP autofocus lens.

Sure, any of these images could be fake, but the fact that some of the images have been revealed before does not prove that they are fake by any means. The article incorrectly claims that "all these screens were posted months back" -- they were not. The author is more wrong than the people he is criticizing.

So, the new iPhone is a matte version on the left.

I hope not. Looks like a cheap knock-off... but then again all of Apple's designs have been steadily going down the drain over the last few years, so I wouldn't be surprised if this was legit... methinks the Apple designers spent way too much time on Macthemes.net looking at all the dull, flat and grey themes designed by 13 year olds.

I don't think it looks cheap. I think the glossy looks cheaper. It looks like a toy. The matte looks like an adult smartphone.

ive been looking at the pictures all morning trying to decide if they are real of not, but remembering that the iphone has gps cordinate tagging i decided to check some of the cordinate tags for some of the pictures, heres wat i found

the one apparently taken with the new phone contained no geo-tag information

plugging the cordinates into google maps i got this

i think this is conformation enough the pictures were defintely taken in hong kong and were all taken at the same place

Possibility of 2 cameras....

If they still have a camera on the back (apple doubles as a flash) and the current pictures of the case appear to show moved speaker components for a front facing camera... The only thing I can thnk of is that iPhone 3 will be sporting 2 cameras! I'm sure Somone has already guessed this one, but the idea is very hot!

Somebody at Apple is getting fired on Monday. :)

It shouldn't be too difficult for Apple to figure out which employee took a prototype iphone to China.

Ah, very nice, great find :)

None of these are not the new iphone

I do not think none of these 2 iphones are the new one, because it said in the translation "that their is a high likelihood that the final product will differ in looks" it is most likely just a test model.

I sometimes wonder if these rumours are generated by Apple to build interest with its fans.

He said one can only take fuzzy snapshots of it, and not clear shots. 'Cuz it's still not officially released. So, in regards to the fuzzy photos below, I apologize!

This article is such BS. He's ONLY allowed to take fuzzy snap shots? HAHAHA. He takes the fuzzy snap shots so no one will know its the old 3G. Since when is "fuzzy snapshots only" in the NDA's?

Sorry to burst your bubbles, but this is just a guy trying to get hits on his site.

The use of a digital compass...

I know right now we are all talking about the what if's...but the thing that keeps bothering me is everyone is missing the point of a digital compass.

It's not for hiking, although, i am sure you could use it for that.

It is for turn by turn directions, but that's not even half of it...

Augmented reality folks. Live image maps with live graphics over layed.

You know that yellow line that magically appears in football games? Augmented reality.

With a digital compass installed, you will be able to point your iphone's camera at a building, see the building on the screen as well as digital information over layed on the actual image (such as what the buildings name is, address, phone number, the different businesses in the building, etc.)

Turn by turn crappy directions will be outdated. Live real world images with graphics over layed and instant information of any location you point your camera at will be the next wave of cool.

Hiking? Turn by turn? That's yesterday. Welcome to augmented reality capabilities.

Look @ this guys. :)

What's with this post (number 8)? it's just copied text from Engadget, a bit earlier today

I really hope that this will come to live sometime soon. But not this time aroung I think. Still it will be great when it's ready.

Sweet can't wait good bye verizon!

I don't get it. Must be missing something. I have an iPhone so how about fixing lag typing, non responsiveness when clicking a program, keyboard getting stuck for a few seconds when putting in a new email address, the lag when pressing the home button. Meanwhile other devices coming out with netflix accounts and flash not just QuickTime and YouTube streaming that is far, far off from total content available and still no GPS. How some can get excited about a compuss baffles me.

This is all well and good, but the current iPhone obviously takes larger photos(left) than the upcoming one(right).

Whether to upgrade will be quite a debate.

Huh? That's the silliest thing I have ever heard. The pictures are taken from two different phones. The original iPhone is obviously just closer to the speedometer than the new one.

I think someone is promoted, we're all talking about it. These leaks seriously are NOT accidents, trust me.

Totally agree... I've often felt the 3G design (and build) quality dropped slightly from the first gen... I think a matte back on the new iphone is a much classier design than the current glossy one...

It's so that the prototype can't be recognised and so that he can't then be pinpointed as the person who leaked the information. Think about things a little before you post.

so the mystery behind why the photos are fuzzy has been reviled

I wonder if this mysterious guy walks around in dark glasses and a trench coat. Perhaps he goes by a secret code name.

Whoever he is, he's likely sleeping with someone who works in Cupertino. Kevin Rose maybe?

:D

LoL, yea, I'm suprised no one else has posted anything else about that comment.

What camera out there has a "fuzzy" setting? Or better yet, tell me the art of taking just fuzzy pictures!

Sounds like a joke. But I can't deny these pictures COULD be the real deal, just saying that was a silly thing to say. :D

Are you serious?

Oh, and I have to say the matte looks much better than the glossy back

Not that i'd like anyone to get sacked or anything, but if apple did react in some way on monday to this it would be quite cool because it'll confirm the details... But even if it is true, so close to WWDC i don't think they'll react at all!

battery

look at the different battery% levels and time of the different pictures
1.08 24%
1.13 20%
1.17 18%
1.43 10%
if the device was not switch "off" during this demo
the average consumption is 10% for 30 minutes
5 hours of total autonomy????
