If somehow macOS has larger software library than on X86 then maybe. Otherwise, Mac is still just going to be creativity industry’s go-to choice plus a few other niches here and there.Apple is gonna lay waste to Intel and the rest of the PC industry. Hard to see how Apple does NOT double its market share in 3-5 year time

Do you REALLY think software developers can't come up with ways to use all that power? That doesn't make ANY sense !
They've already over-shot their existing market by a wide margin !
The M1 Pro & M1 Max are over-kill for 99.9% of Apple's existing customer base !
I suspect what we're hearing about now is the 911 GT3 version, good for press coverage, but NOT a volume driver !
...second-generation Apple silicon chips using an enhanced version of TSMC's 5nm process, and the chips will apparently contain two dies, which can allow for more cores.
Apple is planning a "much bigger leap" with its third-generation chips, some of which will be manufactured with TSMC's 3nm process and have up to four dies, which the report says could translate into the chips having up to 40 compute cores.
Meanwhile, the report says the next Mac Pro will use a variant of the M1 Max chip with at least two dies, as part of the first generation of Apple silicon chips.
Intel, x86, and Microsoft did not dominate the market because they were always faster or more economical.Apple is gonna lay waste to Intel and the rest of the PC industry. Hard to see how Apple does NOT double its market share in 3-5 year time
I believe the OP was deploying irony for comic effect...Apple would need to try much harder than they are now if this is going to happen.
Amen. I love Apple products but at this point every industry needs chips and can't get them.
The days when Apple delivers a new Mac with user-upgradable RAM are over.Up to 256 GB of unified memory, with most likely the option to add on 1.75 TB of regular memory, so 2 TB in total.
With Intel apparently also planning on using n3 we will see what happensIntel is moving into efficiency cores with I think their upcoming processor but who knows if that will be able to compete with what Apple has already shipped
With the exception of gaming, macOS surpassed Windows a long time ago. C-level, developers, creatives, and scientists all use Mac.If somehow macOS has larger software library than on X86 then maybe. Otherwise, Mac is still just going to be creativity industry’s go-to choice plus a few other niches here and there.
We will see in next year or so.

TSMC Confirms 3nm Delay: What This Means For TSM Stock
TSMC has finally confirmed that the shifted N3 cadence is due to a delay. This reduces TSMC’s competitiveness against Samsung and Intel. Read more here.seekingalpha.com

The better way to look at it is in 5 years or so the baseline supported Mac will be a M1 with 8GB of ram. And the baseline supported PC will be a core i3 with 4GB of ram. If you are a developer, you will then be able to target a potential customer base with more features and expect better performance. Software may not take full advantage of it now, but the possibilities are greatly expanded for the future. That doesn't make ANY sense !

i9, yes. i5 & i7, no. AMD will need to cut prices for the 5600x & 5800x to remain competitive until Zen 3+, possibly Zen 4. Consumers win when both Intel & AMD trade blows.Intel Alder Lake reviews are out today - about as fast as AMD's current chips but use twice the power of AMD, which itself uses at least twice the power of M1s. Intel's HQ should make for a nice museum.
That would be antimatter.Future Macs will also use 1nm with up to 80 cores. Then after that, they move on to -1 nm chips.
"No one will ever need more than 64k of RAM."That doesn't make ANY sense !

It's not that hard to port software from one platform to another anymore. If somehow macOS has larger software library than on X86 then maybe. Otherwise, Mac is still just going to be creativity industry’s go-to choice plus a few other niches here and there.

The Intel architecture is dead. Even Intel is moving to something ARM based. There is too much overhead in supporting the CISC chips. The limiting factor on Apple's M series chips will be the PCIe bridge. If they can build the Mac Pro with PCIe expansion, it will be unstoppable. If not, I can't see them keeping the pro market. It will defiantly be interesting to see just how far they can take their technology, and how long they can stay ahead of the Windows space. Intel is moving into efficiency cores with I think their upcoming processor but who knows if that will be able to compete with what Apple has already shipped.
Linus speculated that their chips would be good enough that there would be one more update of the intel Mac Pro. Though how well Apple is able to scale M1 to a desktop chip will probably dictate what happens there. There is still enough pro software plugins slacking off that Apple Silicon transition though that keeping the intel Mac Pro around a bit longer could be ideal even if it risks rewarding software developers for being late to the game.
M1 Ludicrous SpeedM1 PLAID
It was ages ago and frankly no one really cares. Workstation users buy the 1TB or so with the machine and warranty, customers buy what they need. By the time you need more RAM there is a new CPU and other things you want/need.
A sizable portion of Apple's existing Mac market consists of creative professionals who absolutely want/need the power offered by the M1 Pro/Max. The new MacBook Pros are absolutely overkill for casual users and even most hobbyists (hence the premium price), but that's why the MacBook Air is such a compelling value and will be even more so when it gets updated next year. That doesn't make ANY sense !
