I would have loved to see a passive aggressive British version full of sarcasm, irony and innuendo.
The funny part is a bunch of the trainers are from the UK.

I’m a qualified statistician. In a random sample of about 30 people and no one uses it, you ask more questions
Wait, how did you get the 30 randomly selected Watch users? What was the pool you picked them from? What method did you use to randomly select the 30?

The question I am asking is: does it have enough ROI to break even if they are thinking of canning it. The hypothesis is that they don’t because an insignificant part of the market bought into it.

Sounds like their market research was ****. We left the age of build it and they will come.

Happy now?
As a statistician you should know that „I know some people“ doesn’t make a random selection.

Oh crikey digging a hole here aren't I.

It's an observation that requires further investigation. It's a completely random sample. Nowhere did I say it was representative. That would require decent experiment design. Or access to Apple's data that they have from users.

I'm sure Apple have already done this and gone "nope, costing more than it's making".

I do wonder if they charged less for it then maybe they would make more money. a bit like Apple Arcade.

and tbh apple one itself, the pricing is almost anti subscriber. I have apple tv, I take the yearly option as it's cheaper. I also take the 200gb iCloud storage. and there's part of me that would pay a bit more for arcade, fitness, music, but it just doesnt make sense. I lose my discount for taking Apple TV yearly, and I either lose my iCloud storage space, or have to take a family account for more money.

As with so much of these fields that Apple is entering, they need to think what can differentiate from other solutions other than "we're Apple, and will win."

For Fitness+, could Apple utilise the cameras in iPhones and iPads (and via continuity camera for Apple TV) to monitor your form and posture and give personalised guidance on how to improve? This would offer something pretty valuable over just watching along with Youtube videos.

No, formal terminology.
Semantics provides the theory of meaning, terminology applies it in practice depending on the nature of the topic.

Once again: What’s the point of your original comment? You’ve already admitted your statement isn’t representative in any way. Then you went on to muse about things that were already clarified in the original post.

I tried it when I got my bowflex spin bike but AF+ was sadly lacking compared to the journey app that bowflex uses... TBH neither really appealed to me so I just dl cycling scenery workouts from YT and go at my own pace.

Like Apple Arcade, Fitness+ suffers from trying to appeal to everyone and thereby appealing to no one. It leans heavily towards entry level calisthenics, with gratingly cheerful instructors and cross promotion of annoying Apple Music pop songs. The forced banter and lame jokes between the instructors is particularly
This!! I unsuscribed and went back to Bodi.com Workouts suit my needs better and the music is way less obstrusive.

i didn't know this existed.

I have my doubts about whether it'd be shut down. Similar to apple arcade; i imagine that while it doesn't make much on its own; it's included in the one bundle and if they take it out they may have to lower the price of the bundle (emphasis on may)

Dang, I love this service. I didn't know I was in a minority. Of course I've imagined some tweaks that would make it better...and I hope that this "review" goes that way rather than scrapping it. IDK what I'd do if they scrapped it. I jumped on it on day 1, so I'd have to really look around and see what the options are.

The service sucks and is not a serious thing. Keelo is my favorite workout app and it is not officially supported anymore. But fitness plus needs to get better

The forced positivity of the instructors… it’s all very cringe.
☝️ 100%, it is one of the primary reasons I use Peloton over Apple Fitness. It is the reason I pay more for Peloton even though AF+ is included in our Apple One Premiere account. I don't need you to be nice to me, I need you to wanna kick my a$$ when I am pushing myself to workout harder. Every once in a while I go back to AF+ to try it again, hasn't changed since launch, always disappointing.

I would be so gutted if they got rid of fitness+. I’ve been an avid user since my first HIIT workout in December of 2020, during that very strange time… the trainers are great and the workout’s have really helped me develop my strength add flexibility

Fitness content is very tough to monetize. Even if you have additional products -- whether it's supplements, bikes, treadmills or wearables -- it doesn't always drive enough content subscriptions and revenue to make that BU a sustainable venture. Plus you're competing with all of the free content on YouTube.

I like it, but I don’t pay for it because I like to socialization of exercise. If I traveled I might use it, but I don’t travel so I just go to the gym with the guys.

I know a hell of a lot of people with Apple Watches who do fitness stuff. None of them use this. I get the feeling there just isn't a market for it at all.
I use an apple watch specifically for fitness tracking and I've never found AF+ to be useful. It's not for 'fitness' people. It's really for people that just want to move a bit more, but there are better free options on YouTube.

The clear opportunity is to offer highly personalized and progressive workout programs in different sports (weight training, yoga, cycling, etc) that use Apple Watch and Health data to help you progress. No more pre recorded video knock offs of what was popular on Peloton in 2020. People want real coaching and guidance to reach fitness goals, not phony motivation from plastic instructors. By all means, offer a beginner track for encouraging Joe Q Public to get off his butt and do some jumping jacks, but that can’t be the entire service if they hope to maintain interest and attract enthusiasts.

Exactly correct Apple needs to be more aggressive on both fronts. They are a trillion dollar company with an install base of hundreds of millions of iPhones they should be apple to put together a cross fit type of functionality for this service that attracts people under 40. These could buy the TV rights to a CrossFit type of event and integrate that into the fitness plus and appleTV. The same for Apple Arcade they need to buy a small studio and bring optimized games to their devices.

For beginner to intermediate workouts, I think it's a good service and inexpensive vs other home options at similar production quality. Love that they have rowing. No Mac/Android/Windows support and the fact that you need an Apple Watch to subscribe, is very limiting to grow a user base. I use it but don't know any others that do - but I also haven't asked them either. So who knows.

Eddie Cue seems to be the problem. He has some decent hits with Apple TV but he's too risk adverse across Apple TV and Apple Arcade it seems.
